@@RetroCore It would be nice to compare Emulec and Batocera. The latest Beta of Batocera has the RG351P out of beta (sounds weird I know). The last stable version of Batocera had the RG351P in beta. So if you can install the Batocera 29 r3. Certain games will run better on one OS than the other. Batocera you can play games over the internet with random people which is fun. Batocera has two partitions. One is the boot and you can just copy and paste the files for a new version or downgrade without affecting the saves,roms,config thats all on the other partition. Of course you can upgrade within the software. All saves are located in saves folder (each console gets its own sub folder). Boot time is just a few seconds. I haven't tried emulec yet but it could make for an interesting video promoting two good OSes. Retropie in so many significant areas is worse than Batocera and the other OSes out there (ease of backing up saves, upgrading downgrading, boot time, etc)

I'm glad that they smoothed out the performance issues for the most part, now if this thing just had a 480p screen as opposed to whatever res this is I'd be a happy camper. But is everybody knows these guys put out iterations left and right so I'll just wait until they put out one with this configuration and a better screen.

@@mattsephton That's weird. Regarding how I was told that the 350 has a higher resolution. The only difference is I can work the 351 way easier than the 350. Right out of the box it works. The350 barely let me play 2 games. In my opinion, the 351 is WAY better. Peace!

I think I like the RG350M screen more, for its higher resolution. That allows for some great scalers / effects like the superb dot-matrix scaler in the later Gambatte Gameboy emulator. I really hope the M version will have that higher resolution screen as well and then I might be tempted. Shame about the missing HDMI though too. Thanks for another great review Mark!

Thanks for the comments. About the menu button, there is no reason at all why they can't implement a dedicated menu button. I guess they're too lazy to configure the software to use one.

looks really good, but I'm still waiting for a console that can play Dreamcast games, PSP and PS2 games among others (Saturn, PS1, MegaDrive, N64, Super Nintendo.) So far I'm already covered for Gameboy games (Advance, colors, Nes) thanks to this Rev Plus I bought last year. I know it's gonna be a while for someone to make a console to play PS2 games, it's just there's so many rare ones that may never get a re release or port to other systems like Dirge of Ceberus or The Bouncer.

I’ve got both and I can honestly say the rp2 is a little disappointing compared to the 351. The build is better and so is the interface. The rp2 I thought was Cool being able to download over WiFi but the truth is that most games are in Chinese on it. Rg351 all the way.

Amazing device! plays ps1 great many dreamcast and psp run well as well. On psp a handful needs frame skip but is playable a few games won't run and its more the emulation than the device. The psp has great options to tweak settings frame skipping bugs out fps counter it shows like 15 fps but its way smoother. Frame skip to 1 fixes most games stutters. Best thing is GBA games it has its native aspect and x2 the res they look great! Set other systems to 4:3 but on gba set it back to 3:2. Going to buy another I enjoy my sons soo much lol

QUESTION: You guys in the comments, I need your opinions. Is it worth the screen resolution downgrade to have the Emulation Station interface, screen savers, sleep mode and mixed DS, N64, PSP and Dreamcast emulation? I'm debating between getting the 351P or the 350P this year... If Anbernic hadn't cheaped out on the 351 screen, I would've been sold on it in a heartbeat. Any answers you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated!I' P.S. Before any of you guys mention the potential of a 351M coming out with a better screen, I wouldn't want that, as nice as it sounds for two reasons. Because I'm getting a handheld this year, not next year. Also, metal systems are definitely out of my budget.

Both! This system does have higher specs but it is early days on the firmware. Give it a while and I can see this being really good.

The RG350 line are GCW Zero clones using the MIPS based J4770 SoC. The RG351 is a ODroid Go Advance clone using the ARM based RK3326 SoC. In both cases the Anbernic product is considered a better version of the original, but Anbernic in both cases is effectively producing a handheld with someone else's board design and community maintained Linux OS. The only relationship between the two designs is that Anbernic is putting them in similar cases.

It's crazy these devices compared to the gpd xd is chalk and cheese I prefer the rg the buttons have better quality feel it doesn't seem to heat up also not forgetting the terrible hinges on the screen shutter glad I got the rg350 stand out device with no performance issues at all mostly use it for retro fps games like doom duke 3d and star wars dark forces.

It costs 80 dollars and can barely run psp at 1x at 30 FPS. Meanwhile a modern phone can run up to 8x without breaking a sweat. Instead of carrying two things with me I carry one that does it all. While yes a phone is expensive, a majority of people have one. Even a phone 2 years old could cream this thing. GameCube, Wii, and 3DS games as well.

Yes, there's a little touch pen graphic that can be called up. This is moved around with the right analogue stick and the A button acts as a touch.

I still believe buying a second hand Vita is the best option at the moment due to it running emulators, a big home brew scene and a hacked store where you can download all the hundreds of retail games like Uncharted and Resident Evil for free. Plus it has a screen you can actually see not a tiny one like on this device.

That's a very good question. The emulator used for Mega Drive games can indeed play Mega CD games so I guess it's just a case of installing the Mega CD Bios files and setting up the emulator via Retroarch.

There must be a standard script for these RG351 reviews, as the games that reviewers test are only the ones that run well (Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure, etc.) For the PSP, Jax and Daxter (or the other 3D platformers) are slideshows, for the N64, Pilot Wings runs horribly, and for the Dreamcast, Space Channel 5 and 4 Wheel Trucker are unplayable. I bought one of these on the strength of prior reviewers on other channels only to find that most PSP, N64, and Dreamcast 3D games have framerate and/or sound issues. If you stick to 2D games, then you will be OK, but more complex games have issues. The hardware on these cheaper Chinese handhelds are ALMOST there, so maybe the next revision. They ARE solid for PS One games and below.

Whereas 350m does not ... For me, the ideal scenario would be if 351p cos handle HDMI going out of its OTG port... I wonder if that's possible ...

@@RetroCore If you ever need something a little more demanding for PSP emulation testing, I recommend the Midnight Club games in career mode. I get slowdown in both games on my system, which runs most other games perfectly. Strangely, they seem to work a little better in older versions of PPSSPP. Also, the Pursuit Force games run slowly for me unless I set the Bezier/Spline quality to medium.

It can but how well I couldn't say. I've not tried them. They will play though. The PlayStation games will work perfectly.

Que versión de Emuelec tienes? Mis juegos no corren bien como en tu video... Psp y Dreamcast va muy lento. Pero en tu video si corren mucho mejor....será que actualizaron algo? What version of Emuelec do you have? My games do not run as well as in your video ... Psp and Dreamcast are very slow. But in your video if they run much better ... could they have updated something?
