In this episode Rob and Avis head out away from the city lights and set up a snowy camp mid-week in the Ram 3500 Four Wheel Camper Overland Explorer Flatbed build to view the Geminids meteor shower. The Geminids have been called the King of Meteor Showers. We can't speak to how true that statement is, but it was definitely the best meteor shower we have ever been witness to at this point in our lives.

Awesome video as usual. Yes, there is a meteor shower in August called Perseid. Perhaps that one will give you more opportunity to lay out and watch it from the blanket.

Nice rig. We ordered the hawk slide in camper for our Chevy 2500 I was wondering what PSI did you drop down to when you started your off road portion of the road. Thanks.

Thx! That’s great on the FWC you have in order. I’m sure you can’t wait to get it. On this trip we were running anything technical and just aired down to smooth out the washboards. Normal PSI is around 65/80 F/R and I took them down to 37/45 F/R. But if we are running more technical trail I will run them as low as 20/25 F/R. For comparison to whatever you are thinking of running we are on Nitto Mud Grapplers and our rig is about 11,500lbs when fully wet / packed out for a trip all in with us in it.

How does the Four Wheel Camper do in the cold? Does the heater suffice or do you still dress accordingly inside the camper. Also, do you level the rig to sleep and what are you using to do so.

We’ve camped in it as low as -5 and not had any issues. You can keep it in the 60’s without much trouble in temps that low so long as you keep the heat on. But in those kind of temps you go through propane quick. Could probably make it about 3 days at the most before you’d need more propane. But in warmer temps the propane lasts a much longer time. Yes we level the camper. The truck has pitch and roll gages in the off road pages so I use those to see if we are level. If we aren’t I usually just use rocks I find around camp. Although the truck does have the factory airbags in the rear which will also do some leveling on their own.

Hi one more question, and I’ve looked at your videos and did not see it. How do you handle your gray water/sink water disposal?

@@vagabondvans6571 we have a collapsing jugs that I pull out and run the hose into when grey water collection is required. I think I got them off of Amazon. I keep them in on of the tray boxes.
