A "No One Understands Haikyuu" video would be so amazing. The manga has recently ended, and I can safely say that no anime in existence made me go through the same kind of emotional rollercoaster as this show about kids who play volleyball. Hands down the best character writing in shounen, most Haikyuu fans won't even be able to tell you who their favorite is, because there are so many amazing characters. People really don't get just how great this show is.

Haikyuu is one of the best stories I know, regardless of the genre or the medium. It made me understand why people play sports; even if I'll never be one of them, now I genuinely respect them. I'd love for every kid to see this - to see how instead of enemies and impossibilities, they can think in terms of incentives and growth. The second you said Haikyuu I started legit screaming "YES, YES" at my screen. While your reasoning for the rest of the series that you put on your list wasn't entirely presented I felt like (which makes sense due to the length of the video, you can't go on a deep dive for all of them), Haikyuu being the king of modern shonen just clicked, the second you said it. Probably the one modern series that fundamentally is just the embodiment of the shonen genre, makes you feel the blood pumping through your veins in sync with every single character on the court. Truly one of the most beautiful and inspiring anime of all time.

I’m rereading the manga on Haikyuu, I’ve realized that the show is set back in 2013 it’s funny because I graduated high school in 2013, so when I see the seniors or third years I see myself and how ours journeys come to an end and a new beginning comes forward. I played volleyball too so I sympathize with the characters after a lost it’s like there’s a emptiness in our hearts. It took me rereading the manga to appreciate it and same the other shounen series.

What I love about haikyuu is that as the series progresses there is still a focus on the side characters. Hinata and kageyama are the mcs and we still see their development, but unlike other shonen where the side characters are thrown away to focus on the Mc, haikyuu still puts a focus on characters like oikawa, bokuto and Miya

I have been watching sports anime since I was young, and I enjoy them, I just don't care about volleyball. Only after I discover your channel and hear your thoughts about it that I finally became interested in the series. I got in with high expectations since everyone raves about it, and my goodness, it surpasses any expectations I have. It is undoubtedly my most favourite series of all time. When Haikyuu's last chapter was out, I waited, counting every second, for the chapter to come out, overwhelmed with emotions. Really, thank you for making that one video that includes the rivalry between Hinata and Ushijima.

Honestly? My king of Shounen is Assassination Classroom. That show is solid gold. I'm going to edit this to make my point a bit clearer. The main reason Assassination Classroom is my favorite is because it hit me like not many stories had before. My first anime was Naruto, and while Naruto hit me hard, it hit me like all other stories had before. I loved it, but it was predictable. Then Assassination Classroom came into my life and made me see the world in a different way. Watching it, I felt actively jealous of class 3-E for having Koro-Sensei as a teacher. Watching class 1-A with Aizawa, or watching team 7 with Kakashi, I didn't get that feeling. Assassination Classroom threw me for so many loops. from Nagisa's talent as an assassin to Irina's crush on Karasuma, I predicted almost nothing. All the characters grew on me so quickly, too. Okajima was my least favorite at the beginning. I thought "Oh, he's just like Mineta." But no. He turned out to be a great character! One of my favorites in 3-E. But above all the amazing characters and unpredictability, the thing that made me love this show was the humor. Oh, the humor. I have never laughed so hard than I have watching Assassination Classroom. Even in the most heart wrenching moments, the show finds a way to make you laugh! The jokes are even better in the English dub, too. If you haven't watched it or watched it in dub, I would recommend the English version purely out of comedy value (and the fact that the dub is honestly really well done.). Tldr; Assassination Classroom is my favorite Shounen anime for a lot of reasons.

I'm so glad you mentioned Assassination Classroom. I feel like people are kind of forgetting about about it even though it was amazing and super entertaining. And the Promised Neverland absolutely has the most engaging start I've encountered in anime/manga period. I remember watching Magi some years ago and then coming back to it. It makes me so sad it never got to be one of those big shounen anime even though it deserved it. I enjoyed its more serious themes. But I agree Haikyuu!! is the King. Not just because I've developed an uncurable addiction to it, but also because it's the most inspiring piece of fiction I've ever read/watched from start to finish. I've never seen anything written so satisfyingly, from characters development (Oikawa is an incredible, very human character that is so relatable. Tsukishima is just slightly more relatable to me, though and has the best character development imo) to plot development (even though the plot's so simple.) The anime elevates the manga with how it's directed. The music, animation, and camera angles are god-tier. Although the story is super slow, the pay off is amazing. It captures the best of shounen. I really recommend reading the manga now that it's finished. It ended perfectly imo.

The characters are more relatable and easier to sympathize with. And the emotion shown whether they're on or off the court definitely gives goosebumps.
