Thanks Matt, I went with the Tn36 Limited based on this review a year ago! It simply does everything well enough and like you said, it's all about the sustainable usable output. Many of super high output flashlights can't sustain their maximum for very long these ones included. But man, what the tn36 can run stable at blows away every other flashlight at camp! I even ordered the Samsung 35E for more capacity and it's fantastic!

How long are you getting on High (8000)? In Matt's review, he said the light was 120F at 10 minutes. 115F is usually regarded as the "too hot to hold" threshold. Curious as to what you are getting.
@Optiblue4 жыл бұрын
@@thatplat1 From high I dial it down by a 1 second ish hold. It should be at around 6k lumens and for me it's the magical point. The heat build up is still present but it can still be comfortably held after 30 minutes while still producing a wall of light. My brother ran it lower while tied to a tree for a camp flood light that that ran for hours just luke warm. There are other lights this size with more LEDS, but more means greater heat production. With 3 XHP70.2, this size is perfect for maintaining the temp.

Jesus Christ, I had a chance to buy the X80-uV on eBay the other night for under $100. It has 20 of the most powerful nichia UV leds 365nm ever made, and it had 4 xhp 50s in case you needed actual white light to get out of the woods or something. I really could’ve use the hell out of that light but I missed the bid and it went for under $100. I’ll be kicking myself forever. I really need a powerful UV light, and I’ve pretty much reached the limits of what’s possible to buy or build reasonably. And that light would’ve really made my day!

Like these reviews. Most of these flashlights are way overkill for everyday use. A good 1000 lumens $20 flashlight is good enough for 98% of what the average person would need a flashlight for. That said, it's interesting to see the different flashlights. Now I don't need to go out and wonder what the differences are. TN36 seems like a good entry level super-flashlight.
@himanologanor40936 жыл бұрын
You can easily push this to 24000 Lumens with some tweaking. One Cree XHP70 can give 8k lumens at 12 Amps, but you must keep the ITC temperature sensor. Also you must use 40 Amps vaping cells cause of the 3 LEDs will draw 36 Amps. Making that driver handle 36 Amps will be lille challenging. budgetlightforum.com/node/57715

The heat is like the Mother Board on a PC, too much heat will have a negative impact on the LED. Question: At what point does the Human Eye losses vision. (500, 800, 1000, 3000 Lumen?) We keep increasing Lumen Output which creates more heat, at what point the eye stops vision)

Ben Braceletspurple have you guys tried with a wet napkin to see how long ? I was trying to think how to boost the duration from normal things you may have on you. I had one an experience to walk a 15 min on a dark trail to get home after we are stuck at cafe because a tstorm. I thought great. My wife didn’t think so great. So I ran my d4 pretty high for her comfort but not the comfort of my hand hahah So i was thinking in an emergency situation , how can we increase duration or comfort. I was thinking wrapping the head with a napkin and just run water on the napkin. It’s ok and you can get more minutes. The best way is actually to carry multiple lights and just rotate between the 2 as they get unbearable to hold. So 2 is 1??
@benbraceletspurple91086 жыл бұрын
@@WillEDC the d4 is great. It has a tactical mode letting you push past the normal thermal limits. In a risky situation you can use it that way. I can do a review for you some time soon and post my estimate with a wet bandana. In real emergency you can just use the 4k lumens and just turbo it when necessary. Also the 8k mode seems to have a timer but I'm not sure I'll do more tests. It is very hard to tell when the GT steps down. Your eyes just don't catch it, even in surrounding standard background light. Except turbo max which jumps down quick and gets it's hottest. In real life as I said I don't run around with 8k or even 4k lumens. Except very dire circumstances when I will use a thrower anyway.
@WillEDC6 жыл бұрын
Ben Braceletspurple that’s true. As you get into the higher lumens it’s harder to discern even between 1000’s of lumens.

Hello, keep pushing High Lu-mens, too much power higher heat destroys the LED/Power Source. What is the Usable Visible light. You want an all around flash light: Mag-lite LED. The more you justify the IC Controlled Lights (Luxeon) these new light have a great potential. Some Law Enforcement Agencies use them, such as Surefire, Streamlight, O'Light, Fenix, Nitecore. It's just an updated version of the original TN36. I assume they didn't want to give it an entirely new number designation. The original uses XHP70 and has stepped brightness levels with 7300 lumens max. This newer version has 70.2 emitters, uses a new ramping style user interface and has 11,000 lumen max.

After you get the Emisar D4 (4,300 lumens), you can look into the Nitecore tm03 (2700lumens), and acebeam L30 (?2000-3000??) for slightly larger. The Klarus xt11 x is also over 3000 lumens. All these are somewhat small and ridiculous in output.

The Emisar D4S is also out now www.nealsgadgets.com/products/emisar-d4s-26650-4300lm-high-power-led-flashlight?aff=4 If you want a charging port too the closest thing I can think of off the top of my head is Astrolux S43, but the output is more like 2000 lumen.
