The little Coast G20 is a fantastic little light for the money, but the perfection of the circle of light is a little unsettling if you're used to some spill... as in ANY spill, since that light has absolutely none. I can't say I've ever seen another light that does that. For $10 one could do way worse if all that is desired is an inexpensive EDC flashlight. I also have the little 2xAAA Husky in the side pocket of one of my tool bags. It makes light if I need it so it does what it's supposed to do. I also like the rubber around the head. It makes for a tough little light.

Doing a real service here. I have to admit, when I'm in Home Depot or Lowe's I'm often tempted to try out some of these just for the hell of it. One problem with getting beyond a certain point in any of these hobbies, whether it's flashlights or knives or anything else is that when you've done all this research, accumulated all this knowledge and have a bunch of higher end or at least higher performance items, the magic of going into a store and getting excited about these kinds of items the way you would as a kid is gone. This kind of thing recaptures some of that. Also actually impressed that doing this didn't cost far more. Around the same price as one X9R.

I know nothing about flashlights except “press button, light, some brighter and cast farther than others” so it’s great to find a channel that can help me with good flashlights. I do recommend the Rayovac Penlight tho, for 3 bucks it’s surprisingly bright with an aluminum body and AAA battery with good throw

The amount of effort you put in your videos is really amazing in this day and age, usually KZbinrs put the least amount of effort with the most amount of clickbait on a sponsored video. All to shill a certain product they've used for 30 minutes prior and sent to them for free. It's really refreshing, reminds me of the "old days" a decade ago on here where all the content was something a person wanted to share, not for money, not because a sponsor sent them something just because.

I used to love maglites back then when there where no led flashlights. I even modded one for 10W halogen, what a beam! ..and what a usability with rechargable NiCd batteries! No competition with todays 30-40W led beams that are the hottest I have now. No lithium batteries back then either. Even the 1000-2000 lumen edc light is from another planet than those were. Cannot but wonder why maglights are still available. Maglites make a tool sometimes. Good aluminum tube is great for twisting stuff, like it was back then. Perhaps much more than moders light lights.

I bought the Coast HX5 as a temporary EDC light two years ago, but I have not yet found something better to replace it for the price. It's decently bright with a simple on/off tail switch, and the adjustable beam is a plus. Some people will tell you that the Coast buttons will wear out over time and cause the kight to flicker, but every time my HX5 has started to do that, replacing the batteries fixed the problem. It's an amazing little light for $20.

Really a fantastic review. Creative, funny, educational. Really impressive. You asked at the end what flashlight we, the viewers, would prefer. Well.. there were a few lights that I remembered from when I was young. Long time ago. Those lights are still my favorites. Ok, no lumens whatsoever, no nice beam, all ok: still my favorites. Ok, now I have all kinds, from Nitecore, Lumintop, Klarus, Sofirn Olight and many more. But still those old school lights with that bulky, huge, enormous battery. I had a few of those. All gone by now. And there in the States one can still buy them. I love that a lot!
@QuestionXV5 жыл бұрын
I would recommend against the defiant if you use Tenergy 4Ah C cells (NiMH). The system draws way too much current from them and will fry the LEDs. Mine started smoking. As far as which lights I would buy, anything Maglite except that triple AAA one. All of the classics I would get and most I have.

Nice. Thanks again! I like the torches with a crisp round focusing beam where you illuminate only what you want and for example could be used by a Nurse to illuminate and observe for movement of the body of a sleeping person without shining on their eyes! The more powerful focusing torches are really great on farms, and I think, for the price and easy availability, two you pointed out would be worth taking outside! My guess. It's to protect the switch, it would be more difficult to damage a recessed tail switch when the "Indestructible, Guaranteed forever" light is used as a hammer. The main reason people I know buy a large flashlight is because they want a flashlight that is hard to lose and hard to break.

Personally, I like 2xAA flashlights. Enough voltage for 100+ lumens, easily the most readily available battery, longer-lasting than equivalent 2xAAA lights and still slip-in-the-pocket compactness. I picked up the Defiant 2-pack (11 bucks) and they certainly do the job of providing outside light when walking dogs at night. There is definitely a cool spot vs warmer white overspill. Given that your recommendation in that category was 6xAA, what's your recommendation for a traditional 2xAA without going over ~$20/flashlight?

Honestly the husky lights are pretty decent in general. They are overbuilt to hell, bright enough for most people, uses regular batteries, found in a chain store, and are not crazy expensive.
