I think this turned out as close to perfect as they could ever hope for! Geoff's arrangement is awesome, Rick and Renette absolutely killed the makeup and prosthetics (pun intended), I think J was the perfect choice for this arrangement, and everybody's performances were top notch! Kathy was perfectly creepy as the floor zombie, and Greta handled the stunts like a pro 😂

It's unequivocal; we all KNOW Geoff loved performing the narration. He's un-deaded Vincent Price. Needing to watch it several times to catch it all is a feature; not a flaw. VoicePlay is putting out awesome content. And doing it all as independent artists. Unbelievable level of dedication.

They had this on the shelf for a few years... wanting to get it right plus... it is iconic and they needed to pay homage plus make it their own... of course they also needed to shorten it AND do it acapella! They are amazing - and most certainly the Kings of Halloween 😉. Luckily no VP members were harmed during production 😄 - well we hope... 🧟‍♂️🧟‍♂️. Great reaction - thanks! One of the neat little touches I got a kick out of was right after Eli’s first line the background vocals drop off mid-word on ‘paralyzed’ as Cesar freezes into position with one hand up. A small pun on the word.

Makeup was, of course, by Rick Underwood and Renette Feren. The "zombie infection" was Rick's idea. Yes, that's Kathy Castellucci as the zombie that bites Layne. It was her idea, during setup for the shoot, to have Layne kick "her" away. The doll Layne kicks, resembling Kathy's character (thanks to Rick Underwood's magic) is from Spirit Halloween and they call her Greta the Gruesome (she's Little Greta and Kathy is Big Greta). There's a bone cracking sound when Geoff rises as a zombie (sorta sounds like my back in the morning LOL). Layne and carrots is a running VoicePlay joke so it's always fun to pick up little homages to the Carrot Lord.

The earlier makeup was scary enough but the last round was amazing! In fact, Geoff gave the makeup artist, Rick Underwood, co-credit for the creative concept. I think Eli might have been able to pull off the narration, his side gig is voice acting. But nothing could match Geoff! The only thing I saw in the captions was in the narration. Instead of "your neighborhood" Geoff said "y'alls neighborhood". A tip of the hat to the southern drawl he sometimes uses.

You know, I initially thought the same thing about "y'all" but I looked up the lyrics from Michael Jackson's performance online. If the lyrics there were correct, the original MJ lyrics included "y'all." I was surprised.

What a great reaction, and it was so fun to watch your eyes just light up when Geoff started narrating. It’s hard to pick out a favorite part because there are so many. One thing that nobody’s ever mentioned is J singing at the door. I think it’s so clever of him to sing it as if he’s terrified. It is such a great counterpoint to Geoff’s narration and the threat and impending doom that the guys are portraying.

Their makeup artist Rick Underwood suggested to Geoff about doing the "Zombie Infection". Geoff liked it so he rearranged the video to this. Yes. That was Kathy on the floor. The doll is Greta the Gruesome. Rick did her face to match Kathy's. Geoff has did 12 narrations on his channel. All but a couple are spooky. Most are Edgar Allen Poe. They all are fantastic and amazing.
