"The Beat Goes On" (Sonny & Cher and The Wrecking Crew). "Switchin' To Glide" -- a sunny day at your favourite amusement park with your gals and pals. Late 1970s/early 1980s Power Pop from Canada! This one STILL clicks and throws sparks! It does my old ticker good to see/hear younger folks getting into this older sound! Thanks, Jamel!!!

The song was huge in Canada, it was kind of the weekend anthem, filled up the dance floor at clubs all over. They were a pretty good band, but only got the hit with this song. You should try Big Sugar, another under rated Canadian band, I suggest Diggin a Hole or Turn the Lights on for starters, but they did some amazing blues too.

One of my favourite lines ever: "Nothing matters but the weekend from a Tuesday point of view." Truer words were never spoken. Also the shout out to Toronto. And up until recently the line "Me and Zero request you in the Mercedes." I thought it was a clever way of saying just you and me alone. Zero, as in no one else. Then I find out Zero is the name of the band member. lol

Jamal, thanks for reacting to these Canadian bands. We have so much more to offer music wise than people realize. Here is a small list of pop/rockin' bands that may catch your attention: 1) Teenage Head - Let's Shake 2) Streetheart - One More Time (GordonYYZ). (This band had numerous Canadian hit songs). 3) Red Rider - 1) Breaking Curfew 2) Light In The Tunnel/Human Race (This band also had many hit songs). 4) April Wine - 1) Say Hello 2) Enough Is Enough 3) Love Has Remembered Me 4) This Could Be The Right One (April Wine really had lots of Canadian hit songs to list them all. Check song names on their greatest hits CD's etc.) 5) Orphan - Miracle (A Winnipeg, Manitoba band with nice pop rock song).

@@kdpflush Not to mention "I'll Find Another (Who Can Do It Right)," "Where Is This Love" and "Here's The World For You." Or Rock and Hyde's "Dirty Water." Great Canadian band that fits in perfectly with other classic Canadian bands from the 70's/80's such as: Red Rider, Headpins, Streetheart, Trooper, Harlequin, Chilliwack, April Wine, Rough Trade (from which they stole the wonderful Carole Pope for the rollicking "Never Said I Loved You) ...the list just goes on and on. Having graduated high school in 1985 I'm happy that I lived, dreamed, and grew up on Canadian 80's rock and roll. THE BEST ROCK AND ROCK ERA EVER!!! ps - and yes "Eyes Of A Stranger" is my fav Payola$ song, and is a staple on every "slow and smooth" playlist...but I have the cassette and CD if you prefer to listen the old school way. The opening is pure magic!
