The Kingston Trio tribute band "The New Frontiers"

I think this group isThe New Frontiers and it recorded at somewhere in '70.
but this group may be EAST which is succession group of the New Frontiers.

The New Frontiers sing The Kingston Trio featuring Aman Ryusuke Seto. Aman was my next-door neighbor in Gardena in 73 before I moved to Tokyo. He's an acoustic guitar master player, sings like John Stewart, grew up playing with superstar singer songwriter Yuming Matsutoya (Arai Yumi). A great friend. Back story - these guys broke up over 30 years ago and re-grouped around 2014 to record this tribute. The New Frontiers are Aman Ryusuke Seto, Chuei Yoshikawa and Gen Morita. Chuei is an acclaimed folk and jazz guitarist, Gen lives in Hawaii, plays and farms. Aman lives near Mt Fuji still plays / records has great solo career. After the original New Frontiers broke up Aman composed all original material and formed group called East.

Great to know this Cliff. I'm an avid KT fan (age 78) and saw the original guys live. This is the BEST recreation I have ever heard. Simply amazing how authentically they recreate the sound. What a gift to us old KT fans.

The best iteration of the Trio since the originals broke up in about '68. For years Bob Shane let his voice go from too much smoking. These guys capture the tone and vitality of the original Stewart Trio. Simply great!

My Dad told me he was the biggest Kingston Trio fan in Canada. He just saw this group from Japan and told me: "This gotta be the best Kingston Trio tribute band I've heard anywhere. Including Canada & the U.S.A." TERRIFIC

Speaking from the year '23, at age 70. I watched the NBC Sneak Preview of 'Star Trek,' in September of '66 and immediately thought of 'The New Frontier.' What an age!

These guys really have the old Kingston Trio songs worked out to a tee. They are really true to the old versions and I think they really do accomplish what they set out to do. I think Bob Shane would be proud of these guys.

Look for them on YT. The original lineup had Dave Guard instead of John Stewart. Slightly Different vibe, but amazing.

I've been a hardcore Trio fan for 55 years! These guys suit me just fine. The fact that they're Japanese is positively mind blowing. Apparently this was recorded in the 1970's - I only wish such a group were performing today. Thanks for this soundtrack!!!!

Great, these artist are really good. By capturing the Trio, they not only pay tribute to them, but to the folk music and to the American people. I salute this fine group, hope they are still having fun somewhere and entertaining audiences.

These guys are amazing!!! I saw the Original Kingston Trio with Dave Guard once and then saw the Kingston Trio with John Stewart 36 times. I absolutely adored them. I can hear Dave's, Bob's and John's voice and a bit of Nick's in this group! How wonderful. I love the side remarks they make to each other, as The Trio used to do to each other on stage. this tribute band is really good, they capture the escence of the kingston trio i was introduced to kingson trio music when pbs aired a documentary back in 2006 called The Kingston Trio Story: Wherever We May Go, it is wonderful , folk music is such a delight , then of course aside from the music cd appearances of kingston trio, the second appearance of the kingston trio music on tv was the European christmas markets special , which is fun

Who ARE these guys?! They are great!! This is the only video I can find of them! They really just about outdo the original Kingston Trio themselves with the sheer quality of their renditions. So what I gather is that they are actually JAPANESE! Upon closer inspection, listening to their explanations to the audience, and from other comments I can see they probably are, yet nobody seems to know about what they are up to since this video was made perhaps some 30-40 years ago! the mystery deepens... Can someone fill me in and give an update about these great guys in the 21st Century 2020?

These guys really are wonderful. I have every Kingston Trio album, or did, and these guys will get a listen often. I saw The Kingston Trio Live towards the end of the original members passing. Bob was there , George was there and a guy from the Brothers Four. These guys are better than the concert I went to.

Although they do sounds phenomenal, I feel like it is more quality of recording than performance. Because I agree these do sounds much better than most if not all the originals. Recording of the Kingston Trio sadly are not kept in good condition and just don't sound crisp.
