@BigSky12 жыл бұрын
The only things I can think of are that Paul Simon was dressed in a woman’s smock on the cover of Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme. Ray may have said ‘drug’ rather than ‘drag’ which could also loosley refer to ‘Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme’

I'm pretty sure by "drag" in this instance he means "bummer" because Simon and Garfunkel were putting out songs with some gloomy subjects at that time. Sounds of Silence was released in January that year so it was pretty fresh.

@@sashasilberbauer-bray802 sorry about a long message. Would be interesting to find out how well the singles did in Europa. In my sombre view, the KINKS were never massive in France, although they rocked La Mutualite hall and set the place ablaze in ‘65, A LIVE recording of that evening subsist. I feel the band was a massive influence on some French artists but failed to reach mass interest. TV being the main vessel for pop culture, I remember Cilla Black, Petulant Clark (in French), maybe Sandy Shaw or Dusty Springfield. Later on British artists were challenged by Eurovisionists, italian disco queens and the tediously boring French variety. And on that last note, the French were anglophiles, Brits rocked the globe, shame nowadays not that many kids can converse in English, let along hum Petula Clark’s tunes anymore.
