Continue to part 3/4 here: bit.ly/KKK-Part-3
In Memphis's Forrest Park, there's a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest, one of the most infamous and powerful racists in American history. Lately it's been at the center of the city's often shaky race relations. In part 2, we learn how the history of the Ku Klux Klan and General Forrest relate to Memphis today.

@@KathymacMac they were not committing treason they had the right to succeed from the union especially as the northern government was taxing the southern states extremely bad and getting rich off them it was taxation without representation and many people in the south felt betrayed by the northern government and the state's used there constitutional rights to leave the union so the north and old abe started the war Abraham Lincoln actually committed treason during the war by creating the green back paper money was illegal and he sold out to the bank's and broke the law to make paper money to pay the troops. I am black. I agree that you cant erase history, but you cant move on if you're constantly reminded of past trauma. lands & people have changed. history is to be taught in school due to the fact that it is past. all cultures have one! in America, blacks have suffered the worst treatment. racism has existed & will exist until hate deceases. it will exist as long as there is sin. to display hate & will to destroy a race is terroristic. is that legal? knowing they can do anything at any time? you can voice an opinion without dressing up in ski masks. they are raging for war. they want to see drama. they want chaos & hostility. its kept in the south, because in other areas, whites would go against them as well. the south is a prejudice place to live! This is the reason why & it also shows how racism is definitely not dead. Mom said kill them with kindness & ignore them. Then watch the results!!!

Tamikosha Hunter What about the indians, maya, aztec or the inca? People that were all destroyed. And all the races were slaves, not just blacks. It's just that people learn way more about the oppression against blacks then any other races. Also renaming a park that was dedicated to a general is disrespectful no matter who you are, General Forrest was a leader of an army fighting against a regime that was going to place new laws and taxes towards plantation owners and ruin the economy in the south, this is the reason why the south still has so much anger against the north. They took away their livelihood and started pushing in new laws restricting their freedom
@tamikoshahunter1744
@tamikoshahunter1744 9 жыл бұрын
I stated all cultures have a past. Blacks are targeted & ridiculed. I can't speak for other cultures, I speak for my own. We don't need to be taught about oppression against blacks, we experience it. KKK isn't an "army". It's a cult that opposes equality. Southerners don't hate northerners. Many gov't officials in the south, object to many laws that support black liberty. I saw a white man in court who was caught with an illegal gun. He got 5yrs. probation. My son got caught with 2 bags of weed. He had no record, he was a juvenile, and they gave him 2yrs. to serve.

Hello, good morning What Would Jesus Do? May God bless everyone reading this message. If you want to live holy and be holy then Jesus is right for you. All he asks is that you talk to him each day. Jesus does not take he is always there when you need him and want him. He forgives seven times seven hundred and seventy times a day. That is a lot ! Our fathers prayer is one of the best prayers to start out with. Thankyou for reading this message may God bless you.

Nah. The proof you speak of is not scientific proof. Once they can accurately prove that the man's Tomb is THE 'Jesus Christ's tomb, we cannot say either way. It could've belonged to anyone named Jesus which you should know is not a rare or uncommon name. There is no DNA evidence or any other scientific evidence that shows a connection to anyone of immense power or reputation. I would suggest not accepting everything at face value but your capitalization of 'He' and 'His' leads me to believe you already buy into what a random book tells you so whatever.
@EsaChinita
@EsaChinita 7 жыл бұрын
Simon O'neill I guess you're right... I suppose the Hebrews, Muslims, and Christians of back in the day all made an agreement to tell stories of a man named Jesus Christ, and they also must've agreed to not get along with each other afterwards. I bet they even try to hold secret meetings so that the world doesn't know they're in kahuts... Yes, I think this is the case here...

What's the song that's playing the first minute of the video? It sounds super chill, like an old 4-tay song or something.

true. It was named after him due to his ridiculously amazing military feats. History is history, you can choose to admire and learn from it, or you can hide from it in denial or whatever other excuse you wish to give.

I'm from California and I thought I knew how bad racism was in the south. I still don't know. And so what if he's not the "founder", he still played a significant role in the clan yes?

NO when you get rid of our history of OUR scars then they become complacent and forgetful of our struggle which spits in the face of our ancestors who suffered so that we may never forget where we came from

"Blacks are more scared of ghost than other people" I can confirm this. I was washing my hands and fixing my hair in the bathroom at work one day about to leave work at 11 p.m and this black guy came in didn't even look at me and went straight to pee. I thought this was weird. I kept on fixing my hair and looking at the mirror in silence. He suddenly said "Damn you scared me. I thought you were a ghost." Shit was hilarious.

In Chicago alone, which is where i am from, neighborhoods that were named after historically important African American figures--some containing statues--like Ida B Wells and so on have been torn down despite the fact that they were already commissioned to be land monuments with strict laws prohibiting the exact tampering which they were subjugated to.

All the proponents for keeping the statue (except the kKk) were logical and well spoken. They were clear and persuasive in why the name of the park should not be changed. Those who wanted the park changed just kept complaining 'we have been hated against for decades..........'. Their argument is illogical and invalid.
