There doesn't seem to be any consistency to the color of player and enemy projectiles, which probably fuels the difficulty in figuring out what is what during the chaos

I originally found the true final boss was too hard as well, but turns out card selection matters a TON for it. There is one weapon and two other cards that make it far easier. I'm not exactly a fan that you need the weapon and at least one of the two other cards to make that fight feel sane, but at least they gave some kind of tool to not make it complete BS.

@@lordhvemarcy6183 Just downloaded the game again and checked my endgame save. This is what I have equipped which I believe is right. I'll note the armor in particular is huge because it is a form of increasing health to take stress off the fight. Also the Ghost guns because the seeking bullets mean you can worry less about aiming. 2x Ghost Gun, Card explosion (card cycle plus damage), 2x hand cannon, Ethereal Armor, 2x War Spirit, Triple Seeking Swords

0:24 Nice to hear somebody else acknowledge the difficulty in using corner HUD elements in busy, fast-paced games like these. I can focus on the character in the middle and the things trying to murder them, or the icons in the corner, but my eyes can only be directly pointed at one or the other. And when you're dodging like three things per second, that doesn't leave much opportunity to check those corner icons.

1:00 At some point, it should be reconsidered if a game is a Metroidvania or not. I remember when people were trying to sell me Owlboy as a Metroidvania. Fucking Pokemon games are less linear than Owlboy.

don't understand the "deck bulding" feature in games . Cards is something to make playing possible in real life. In games you don't need cards , just have a "loadout" or Inventory / caracter slots to place spells ect.
@clochard4074
@clochard4074 2 жыл бұрын
A deck of card has something an inventory doesn't have, and that's randomness. I don't think this game has randomness in the equipment so "cards" is mostly a stylistic choice, but deck building is a valid challenge in a videogame. Sure, you choose the cards in the deck but you don't know in what order you will pick them, so you have to be rather careful.
@Alloveck
@Alloveck 2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. Cards make sense in physical real life, where a sword card is far more doable than an actual sword for lots of reasons, and monster/spell cards are the only option for monsters and spells or other totally made-up things at all. Choosing to represent things as cards in games, on the other hand, seems completely unnecessary. There's no need for that conceptual limitation at all when the game can give my character an actual (in-game) sword just as easily as a sword card. I will make an exception for video game versions of real life card games though. Playing them online allows for much, much easier long distance card game playing than would otherwise be possible with physical cards, and cards aren't an unnecessary downgrade when it's a digital version of a game that was designed for physical cards in the first place. So that use of cards in video games does make sense.
@NateJones10
@NateJones10 Жыл бұрын
Deck building does have a strategic aspect. If you can just pick your powers, then you always have those abilities. But it becomes a puzzle if you have to pick a certain number of cards, and how many of each card, plus those options are limited by your card inventory. Say you have a minimum of 10 cards in a deck, then a card you have 1 of vs a card you have 3 of is a third as likely to show itself. Depending on how cards are drawing and used, a powerful single card becomes a risky strategy to rely on. Do you choose cards that synergize with each other and give you relible powers? Or, do you throw in your single cards and go for whatever comes up? Mind you, if the game doesn't build these kind of customizing choices in then it doesn't do much other than randomize your abilities. But a strong deck building mechanic with interesting build options can add alot to a game that might not normally use cards.

Lol agreed. And this is why elden ring, dark souls, etc Can kiss my ass! I do not understand why people enjoy dying 100 times in one spot... I understand the "accomplishment" concept and rewards... but these games just go fucking overboard. Not to mention having to return to the place you died to recollect your loot or experience is the worst idea for games of this difficulty! that's my rant 😂

@@aic8326ik this comment is old but I'll tell you why. People who are good at things needs things exclusively for them. For example at a ski hill you don't ask the hill to pave down moguls and obstacles so everyone has access to the run, you go do the easy run or the medium run and if you decide you like the sport (game genre) then you get good enough to do it. Just because you play videogames does not mean you are entitled to play every videogame.

Kinda wish the journalist mentioned the audio. The trailer ponied up for its own vocal tune, which begs the question as to whether this game lends particular attention to music, or pulled a Samurai Maiden and only splurged audio on the trailer. Considering Knight Witch seems to deliver on visuals, I have more confidence it delivers on audio, but these sorts of deets are particularly significant info when considering whether or not to put time/money into yet another game of the inflated and iterative genre of twinstick shmups. We need them deets! Otherwise, good review. Whatever the case, the game is clearly worth the $20 admission, visuals alone. When a game looks this high quality at such a low price, it's more of a decision of time investment.

How are the mouse controls? Are they standard dogshite console port quality, where, for example, crosshair is locked at fixed distance to the player, and your cursor is hidden, making it impossible to predict where you will be aiming, or is it a rare good one, where you can actually aim with your cursor?
