I like the adverse effects of the Korund Armor. The other level 5 Armors (gen 4 and Redut) have gotten substantially cheaper.. I bought a bunch of Gen4 HMK’s at 110k roubles a few days after korund dropped, but the prices rose again.

Great guide Jesse! In my head the Korund is almost a meme, not because it zeros fast or falls under the other misconceptions, but it’s under 10kg and covers full torso. All of that and it’s 99k fresh, and then to repair it fully from 0 from Mechanic who is the most expensive is only 18k Roubles. What makes it funny to me is if you die, it’s most likely zeroed, so you’ll get this back from insurance more times than you won’t, more times than any class 4 cause it’s a 12 slot. Even fresh thats lees than 10k roubles per slot, so you’re best off not taking it out of a raid unless you know you can ditch your gear and wear the 0d Korund out and live. This rarely happens so if you read this far take this advice: don’t go buying more than 2 of these. I am good with one, and then if I die I get it back the next day. Insurance and inventory management is very important in Tarkov so buying 3 or 4 might force you to sell to Ragman or Fence where you won’t get any value for what you actually have

@@miniHAWKTTV Right now you are mostly going to run against 40+ pen ammo, so a tier4 armor is pretty useless and this is the solution for newer players who do not have a lot of money, blocking 4 40+ pen shots is better than blocking 7 30+, since you are not going to encounter them as much

This is an excellent video. I was just talking about how this is my favorite class 5 armor mostly because it provides near similar protecting as a gazelle, actually repairs near fully, and cost nothing to repair unlike other class 5 which cost upwards of a new armor. Also no one almost no one takes this armor off of you.

How is the ability to repair the Korund? A great feature of the Killa armor is that you lose almost no durability points while repairing, compared to other types of armors that lose a lot of points.

i've done over 100 raids with this armor at this point and i can say that it does very very well for me. I used to just run lv 4 armor because i like to have bang for buck kind of stuff, but started using this armor. I run the same stuff every raid so this is the only thing has changed for me. Despite the total amount spent for kit going up. I've still been making money from doing nothing but pvp and scav boss hunting. For some weeks now i play duo and we go customs scav boss hunting. Hitting the new scav boss area, going to gas then leaving. We don't loot boxes or anything and we've made money doing this. So i think its super worth it and that is coming from someone that doesn't really think armor helps to much. Which is part of the reason i can justify using this. While i don't think armor helps a whole lot in general, this doesn't really break bank for me at least and still gives me that bare minimum protection that everyone should strive. So if you're a bang for buck kind of person this armor is the creme de la creme for me and i don't really see that changing anytime soon. I do run better armor from time to time, but its only if i get it off of pvp then i just wear it most the time.

The reason I don't use it is the speed debuff. I also prefer thorax only armor. I think it's a great piece for lower level or poorer players but I have plenty of money to pay the premium for tactec/gihzel or however you spell it. I don't have to worry as much about dura as well which is a nicer thing, especially with the tactec or similar which repair really well.

I freaking love this armor so god damn much. It is available from Level 3 Prapor, costs just over 100k, and it repairs so damn well and almost for free. Literally zero'd it repairs back to like 42 durability. It's damn good.

Pen chance is based on % of max durability. So 75% of max durability, 50%, etc. The total durability is how much armor damage it can take. AP-20 might not pen, but it takes a larger chunk out of that armor's durability, which means the next shot has a higher pen %. Of course, there's also _effective_ durability, which is based on the material. So even a higher class armor will break faster than a lower class armor with more effective durability.

In my opinion the tier 5 armored rigs are a better deal. With barters they can be had for well under 200k (sometimes way cheaper), and they have better stats (both armor-wise and for player-debuffs). For the extra ~50k vs the Korund and a rig, I'll go with the armored rigs unless my barters are used up.

Ok so in a nutshell: Korund you're going to survive one burst (from high fire rate LVL 4 ammo) to the chest but have no armor for the rest of the raid BUT you get a cheap and high-quality repair so you can take the same armor next raid and get similar results. Higher durability LVL 5 armor (such as GEN4) you're going to survive more bursts/sprays in that raid, however, it's going to be much less effective when you repair it for the next raid (absorb fewer shots before it's zeroed or can be penetrated by lower pen rounds). AKA Less sustainability, more expensive, more effective in one raid, less over multiple raids. [TL;DR] Buy korund for a cheaper more cost-effective armor that's useable over multiple raids, buy heavier level 5s (like GEN4) if you want a (likely) one-time use armor that's good for one (or two) longer raid. (Honestly, if you want an armor that's good for a long raid buy LVL 6).

When you move the Korund durability down to 39 in the app it is showing 39/45 as if it is damaged. Does 39/39 reflect the same as 39/45 to the ballistics system or does it look at all of the values a percent. For example, a 45/45 Korund having the same initial pen chance from a 39/39 or does a repaired 39/39 preform the same as an unrepaired 39/45?

Whats unfortunate is that this far into wipe, as a lvl 32, is that armor is only for low level players and for scavs. If you are fighting most people that are 20+, they are using 995, 7.62 bp, 5.45 ignolick etc. So as you said, it ignores armor. This information is useful early in a wipe, and against scavs and budget runs. But this far into wipe, it's an ammo meta. Run to resort or customs and just keep going in as a hatchling and jot down what bullets you die you to, odds are, is the armor ignoring bullets. It's just unfortunate

9x19 pst gzh (I wanted to choose a weaker round that few players are running) will zero a korund armor in 12 shots. My M1 rig, which is 40-50k cheaper and doubles as a chest rig, gives it a 20% chance to go through at 12 shots. Any ammo that will threaten a class 4 armor will also do significant work against this korund in just a few shots. AP 6.3 leaves this thing at 18 durability after just 3 hits. My point is that this armor is only better than most class 4 armors for the first 2-4 shots it takes in a raid depending on the ammo used. It's almost impossible to get good value from this thing after 1 engagement from another PMC.

The best part of korund armor is that no one takes it. I've had one for 5 raids, I'm waiting for it to come back from it's sixth. No one is going to lug out a zerod korund, and korunds are strong enough that they zero before you die.

Nice to have the chance for tanking one or two shots but with all those laser beam weapons with a high rate of fire you get hit by several round within a second and there is no armor left. Let's say someone shoots with a p90 with ss190 at you then you could get hit by 15 bullets within a second and you only need 3-5 hits to get killed in that Korund from ss190 ammo, that are 0.33 seconds. If someone is single tapping you it might work but against all those full auto no recoil weapons with high pen? And the Korund costs 112k at Prapor 200-300k at the flea market.

Korund is a no-brainer for me. Having a higher tier class armor over a high durability one has saved me more often than the latter. Level 4 at this point in the wipe is borderline useless imo since almost everyone is running 40+ pen ammo. Level 5 and 6 are the only thing that will actually save you from most opponents in pvp.

Yo . There’s gotta be something wrong here . I downloaded the app and did the tests and basically ... by the tests the 6b5-16-86 Uley CLASS 3! Armor can tank 8-9 shots of 55a1.......but the Slick armor being class 6 can only tank 6-7 shots..... is the armor class not being accounted in this app because that doesnt add up. Why spend 400k when u cpuld spend 46k for more shots .... How does the Armor class # affect what the durability actually means . Because in these tests the favored class 4 6b3TM can only tank 4-5 shots of 55a1... I’m so confused what

1 armor hp is definitely not equal to 1 pen. For example, M80 has 13% to penetrate on the first hit on a 45 dura Korund versus 50% on a 25 dura Korund
