Pretty impressive you getting your work done in those conditions. Great tractor and attachments too.

I looked at a fx40 today and thought it wouldn’t be much good for me but after watching your video I’m quite impressed!

nice i have a fx 40 on a john Deere 3025 been a bit disappointed in it but your vid has impressed me . I am going to contact the factory and see what they can do for me mine would not even begun to winch that tree i would of had to cut it in half . The 3025 is about the same horse power but a 1000 pounds heavier then the B2601

Thanks for the comment! I had an issue with the rope and pulley system in the first day of using the winch, once I tightened it up, the winch pulled better. My rope stretched in the first few pulls, so I moved the stop knot up a few inches. I hope that helps.

Great video. Nice tractor. They seem to be popular. Iron wood seems to be great firewood I believe. I don’t think there is any of it here in PEI, Canada. Have a great day.

Thank you very much for the great comment! I have seen Ironwood (Hop Hornbeam) in New Brunswick, it's too bad that there isn't any on the island.

Thanks for video, live in eastern ont also. Do you think additional chains on the front tires would be useful. Usage case is very similar in addition to snow blowing.Would like to use in my bush in winter but have fear of getting stuck.
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
I think front chains would definitely help. The places these little tractors can go is very impressive even with just rear chains.

Looks that this tiny tractor do the job but in my opinion not strong enough, it is better maybe to have a bigger model. Thank you for the review!

Thank you very much for the comment and watching! This little workhorse of a tractor spends most of its days within 50 feet of the house, I just wanted to demonstrate the capabilities of the unit. I have professional operated skidders for a living in the past,which would definitely better suit logging in the woods, but I would assume more people have compact tractors.

A forestry winch is such an awesome work saver in the woods with a grapple, I have a Tajfun EVG45A on my TYM T474.
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
It sounds like you have an awesome setup as well. I really appreciate the way the winch speeds up the process. As you can see in the video without frozen trails days ahead of time, skidding is hard in the deep snow. Thanks again for the kind words. Have a great day.

If that's Iron wood I would keep every piece. That stuff is like Gold. On a Cold winters night it will keep you warmer then Ash.

I agree with you 💯. Ironwood is my favorite firewood, I'll take it over Maple or Oak.

I just bought the same winch. Would you mind sharing the mods you made to your quick hitch? Also have you had any issues using the quick hitch? FX85 and above manuals indicate the winches are not quick hitch compatible, but FX40 doesn't say that. Thanks for great video.
@timschison52Ай бұрын
Hi there, the space between the two bottom three point pins are the right width for the quick hitch but I had to use the floating top link for the top one. It works well. I will make sure and put it in a video in the future. I hope that helps.
@roberthoag5156Ай бұрын
@@timschison52 Yes, I have the floating top link for my Quick Hitch. I'm assuming that I will need to drill a hole or modify it somehow and that I will have to bolt the floating top link so it does not float? Thank you for response and help.

Great looking setup. I have a B2601 from Huckabone's also. What brand of tires chains are you using?
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
I use trygg diamond ice chains. They work well and I ordered them through Benson Auto Parts here in Eganville.

When you were stuck in the snow, It didn't appear the front tires were attempting to turn. Did you NOT have the front wheel drive engaged? Or, does the front drive have a slip of some sort? Would the diff lock have made a difference in all four tires having power to them? THanks for the video, I enjoyed it alot!
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. The tractor was definitely in 4 wheel drive at the time of the spinning in the video. There are differentials in both the front and rear axles of the Kubota B2601. The front is open and the reason you can't see the left tire spinning is because the right one was. The rear wheels on the other hand have a differential lock engaged by a foot pedal on the left side of the floorboard. I hope that clears it up. Thanks again for watching.

Where did you get your chains ?
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
I purchased them through my local Benson Auto store. Trygg chains are made in Sweden and they sourced them from Chaine select out of Drummondville Quebec, Canada. I hope that helps. They will require your tire size and the type of pattern you desire. I chose the Diamond ice chain and they work very well and are extremely durable. I hope that helps.

Thanks for posting this. I'm currently spending an unhealthy amount of time watching tractor videos. I'll be purchasing a Kubota with rear blower, loader and grapple in the next few months. The B2601 would probably do everything I need but I could probably fit an l2501 in the budget. Looks like you have experience with both of them. I'll be doing similar projects as you, less the backhoe. Is the B2601 superior in the bush because of its small size, more maneuverable? Or, as they say bigger is always better making the L2501 a better choice if one can afford it? My bush and snow conditions look similar to yours. I'm probably 80km west of you. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@timschison52 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out! It all depends on your application. The B2601 is perfect around the house and for getting into tight spots. I have a Mid Mount Mower on it as well. That being said, if you don't plan on using it for tight areas the L2501 is a quite a bit beefier for handling heavier loads. So if you are strictly using it in the bush then the L2501 would be my pick with the larger blower. It also has a larger displacement engine with more torque. If you are using it around the house and planning on mowing then the B2601 would be the choice. I will do a video shortly comparing the both if that helps.
@clemhopper33 Жыл бұрын
@@timschison52 Thanks! No need for a mid pot. Tightest spots would be bush trails. I'm drawn to the bigger displacement, lower rpm and weight of the L. I also expect it would be a more stable machine on uneven ground, with loaded R4 tires and wheel spacers. I'd watch your comparison of the two if you do one. Your latest video has me thinking i need a winch. Please don't show any new kit. Glad to hear you had a good experience in Cobden.

Here's another video for you if your interested, I use a Massey 1723 w/ backhoe, in the bush. Using the backhoe, instead of a winch, is a different approach I think more people should consider. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYmbaah-oJ6piKs

@uglyapple ,thanks for watching. I look forward to your video. For the last 2 years I have been using the backhoe as well for skidding until I purchased the winch. Great minds think alike 👍
