'Bazooka' was almost a radical departure from their other lead singles. Yet its catchy tune attracted many new fans and million views. IMHO 'Like It Hot' (and the whole EP) is GWSN back to their true nature, with an even darker concept. The members were more involved with the artistic process too.

I think right now the wave music is basically run by the GWSN Members themselves. They have songwriters (Seoryoung and Lena) they have videographers (Soso and Minju) and they have choreographers (Miya, Seokyoung, Anne). The lack of promotions right now is really concerning, they're on their second week of promotions but we still don't have any behind the scenes or music video making. Yeah, and they literally just gave Groos a views challenge on VLive from Miya and Seokyoung, it's like seeing a promotion pitch meeting on live stream😭

This makes me sad but also inspired because if they can pull it off, that’s hella inspiring and takes self producing idols to the next level
@mehdiirfani13 жыл бұрын
This is just a joke, right? If yes, ignore my comment. But if you serious, I mean... what? Seoryoung and Lena are not songwriters, they are lyrists. Hopefully in the future, yes, but now, not yet. After Jungsu Han leave Kiwi, now GWSN has a new producer, SWIN LEE. SWIN LEE also composed most of the mini-album songs just like Stupid Squad in the past. GWSN choreograph Total Eclipse (Black Out) dance, but they still have other people choreograph most of their dances. For this album, most of the dances will be choreographed by MINJU and SAEROM (IG: @72.6_ & @sae_rom87). I still don't know who directed this, but BAZOOKA! [Director’s Cut] Special Edition is just a fun video, not an actual K-pop MV. So no, GWSN not run by the members themselves.

GWSN are my top ult group and I'm extremely passionate about them. This comeback with both Like It Hot and the whole album has been amazing! It's been difficult waiting over a year for new music from them but they definitely delivered something very special with this album! Having Soso back just makes everything so much better as well, I missed her so much. Thanks for reacting to the MV and I'm happy you liked the song. I'm definitely looking forward to your reaction to the album.
@buttholefarthole3 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with what you mean with the song. Bazooka was super catchy and nice, but it caught me off guard with how different it was from their previous releases. Sonically, Like it Hot may not be as interesting as their PITN series, but I think they’re in the midst of returning to their style and concept from before which is amazing!! This new album as a whole feels and sounds like classic GWSN while going a bit darker in concept, but not in a way where it feels foreign to them either. I think the reason for this is because Miles is a subsidiary of Kiwi Pop, while The Wave is actually Kiwi Pop, just rebranded I believe? So they returned to whoever they used to work with I guess?
@yue10843 жыл бұрын
it seems like the wave ent. is actually a reformed kiwi ent, while miles ent. was possibly the same company but under a different leadership bazooka was definitely an outlier in their discography and would've become their new sound if miles was able to manage them properly and give them a comeback, but now we're back to their original image based on the return of the artistic direction but not the financial backing and industry influence from their debut days, i suspect someone important from the original kiwi management left and miles was a strange transition period considering all this, it's reassuring they're back as gwsn but i'm still worried for their future and whether or not they'll be able to survive until they get their big break. support like it hot y'all!

I’ve been following GWSN since I saw them perform Puzzle Moon at MAMA. Ever since then I got addicted to their cosmic sound. @blumontage3 жыл бұрын
I've been worried about them too, and usually these small companies are so shady, the way they handled Soso's hiatus was just so weird I totally thought she was not gonna come back. The only reason I knew they were not gonna disband soon was bc they are very active on their KZbin channel like they make so much content and I don't think their company wants to give up on them. Lots of groups have been disbanded and I always worry but I think they can survive for a while. I don't like this tittle track, I was more of a Bazooka fan but the rest of the album is really good, that's gwsn style, they never disappoint with the b-sides. Also, I saw on Twitter that they recently got their biggest album sales so that's good! I wish that they can give us good music for a very long time 💗

I’ll explain what seemed to happen with The Wave Music. Kiwi Media Group owned Kiwi Pop with the world renowned CEO Kim HyungSeok. But they went bankrupt and were bought by Bandco. The new CEO, who learned just under CEO Kim, Jungsu before leaving the company changed the name of Kiwi Pop to Miles Ent he only was the main head for 1 comeback Bazooka but managed beforehand as well. Kiwi Media changed into Ascendio and became a film only company. This is where the problems started, even the girls admitted they had to do a lot to make their group survive. The update is that I think after this point because of financial records: Ascendio blew up $15 billion made in a year, but was a film only company. They created The Wave Music original to keep GWSN alone (but then sold or let them off on their own making them a small company on their own which I’m not sure about...) with a new CEO named Steve. This was the man who you probably spoke with? This is probably why they are relying a lot on fans. :/ I just want to help them as much as I can. So really, thank you. Thank you all for supporting them in any little way.

I always look forward to your GWSN reactions, I love seeing how passionate you are about them. and I agree, this is definitely one of their best comebacks yet, especially coming out from bazooka, I can see how the girls are flourishing and growing. Like you, I know they can make it, I know they can have a long lasting, impactful career if only they company give them the tools, I can see how talented they are and how much they work everyday. I feel reasured of their presence this comeback but I also feel the looming shadow of disbandment, like, they are already 3 years old, and I know the company doesn't care how much I love them , they only care about numbers, I pray everyday that the general public notices them and they can become super famous. Also, I think you're gonna love their b-sides, especially "I can't breathe" that song goes HARD! Also, I believe you mixed up Minju and Soso, Soso had almost no lines this time :(

As much as it seems that The Wave Music is doing a better job I'm still worried for the girls as they're missing a lot of key things artists should have in present day kpop. They still don't have a Tiktok which we have all seen can do wonders for any group nor have they done other promotions of the song like variety shows or even like a relay dance. I really hope I may be wrong and that they're working on it but if not I'm really afraid for their future.

A lot said here is exactly how I felt last year! I personally LOVED the keys, it's one of my favorite kpop albums (then again all gwsn's are lol) but bazooka was a massive disappointment to me. Easily my least favorite title track. And like you said, it isn't because it's a bad song or music video--- it's a decent music video and an arguably great song (one of the top retro tracks last year behind apink and gfriend) but it was a poor gwsn song. I'd have loved it from rocketpunch, cherrybullet, or any girl group that at that point was known for catchy mainstream bops. But from gwsn it was a massive let down as indeed they have a signature style in their title tracks and an expected level of creativity that was just not there at all. (btw cherrybullet is 1000% leading the alt-bop scene this year with love so sweet). Like it hot, while not perfect, made me so happy when I first heard it because it showed the company absolutely was aware of what makes gwsn special and are attempting to find their way to retain it and make their music more approachable to stay afloat. It's honestly the best sound scape transition I've ever seen and I'm just so glad to see them be able to keep their identity in the transition, as most companies just ditch it all together since it wasn't profitable. The album itself furthers this as I feel like they really doubled down on their artistic side, that even with new producers and trying out new genres they refused to stop experimenting and delivering high quality b-sides you weren't going to get from any other girl group. Overall I'm extremely impressed with gwsn this cb and excited for their future. I'm especially happy about the fact a ton of people are appreciating them this era and buying the album!

I agree a lot with you. GWSN is the first girl group that I support with passion and dedication. They captivate me, they made me see them as something so delicate but powerful, even with that half magical touch that they have. I don't think they have bad jobs, only some better than others and although The Keys have songs like Heavy cloud but no rain (one that I love) but also is my least favorite album but I love them, they are so talented, charismatic, they are diamonds and at one point I also feared for their separation but aghhh I'm so glad for this comeback, I felt the magic again. And the entire choreography is GLORIOUS, one of the central points of GWSN I think is its choreography, it is not ridiculously difficult with aerial steps but they have an elegance, dynamism and not to mention the movement of hands, that are their signature, I always notice that flash of vogue in their presentations and AHHH I LOVE THEM, I hope the world stops sleeping in them because these girls are pure gold

On a personal level I rank their title tracks as 1) Pinky Star 2) Red Sun 3) Like it Hot 4) Bazooka 5) Puzzle Moon but on an non biased level the ranking would be 1) Pinky Star 2) Puzzle Moon 3) Red Sun 4) Like it Hot 5)Bazooka

The album is pure fire, check it out, it's called The Other Side of the Moon. I like all the songs off it, Burn is really something special.

Their debut, Full Moon, was my iconic favorite… until Bazooka, which I found to be a total bop❣️ I think the repeat of that title word along with the choreo, especially Anne’s fierce performance and look sold it for me. I pretty much like the music of Like It Hot… but the repeat of that phrase doesn’t work for me. Some other repeat phrase would have been better. Btw, I can say the same thing about other repeat words in other artist songs that also don’t strike me well… as an only English speaker. That said, I still like these GWSN girls and how hard they’ve worked to get where they are❣️

Personally, I think they should have relied on bazooka’s instrumental more! I think the voices are too much in the song but I love to hear them sing so I’m okay! 😂😂 I think with a disco house song, they really need to have an instrumental portion like Love Hangover! I was also wondering if the jump cuts were suppose to be a part of the concept. Miya’s was the Keys, Anne’s is TOSOTM bc of reflection, I wonder who’s next! And the lighting- I think it’s their 3 colors theme, Gold black and white! Which is genius if on purpose.

That’s so interesting that management reached out to reactor(s) upon the change of companies! I don’t know how this kind of stuff works in the music industry - do you think their ~creators at Kiwi could still have some reasonable control? Like, ensuring their “safety” but not having the funds to keep them on? Random thought... I wish RBW could pick them up. Their groups always have the appropriate MV tone and production for their music and voices. ONEUS doesn’t look or sound like ONEWE, nor like MAMAMOO, etc. etc. So that would be ideal for GWSN. But this is of course a silly irrelevant dream. :)
