Yes and it was during a concert where Hoshi made a mistake. All the members pointed it out. So rather than get down himself Hoshi said, “this is the first time I am living this life.” Meaning in a way every moment we encounter is new for us, so of course I’m gonna make mistakes. Woozi was so inspired by that self-loving attitude and wrote this song.

I feel like each of them represents the struggles of young adults today: Jeonghan - Someone who's afraid about the reality of life. Joshua - Someone who struggles with his work life. Woozi - Someone who's anxious about going outside. Dokyeom - Someone who's doubting his abilities to pursue a career. Seungkwan - Someone who's anxious about picking up the phone. I watched this mv first without subtitles, but when I watched it again with subtitles, I cried a lot. The lyrics literally interpret what I'm going through right now. And now, I'm crying again.

In the first scene of Jeonghan, he sees the sentence “forever is a lie” - but he does not like it, because he wants to believe that there’s something never change. So he starts to use glasses to make his view foggy, even though he already has a perfect eyesight that does not need glasses. He did not want to see things changing with his eyes. He ran away from the world by not seeing things properly, shading facts, and just avoided things that disturbs him. Jeonghan’s tiny issue is in line with other members, including DK, who wanted to run away from the reality that he’s in (vague future). P.s., In Korea, when you call someone a rock it means that the one is stupid, knowing nothing and dumb. Judging by the situation that DK’s in-studying for the governmetal officer bar exams (one of the popular “job”s in S.Korea and many ppl wants to be govn officer when they don’t have a clear vision of their own cuz govn officers tend not to be fired easily and you can work till you retire)-he is tired of his failures and lost confidence of himself so he thinks himself as idiot. He wrote down his “장래 희망 (desired job)(*the term itself can be directly translated into future hope, but the term is typically used as the meaning of desired job and it’s not romantic haha😂)” as a rock.

Woozi as a writer , is so attentive to daily interactions. When Hoshi mispoke inappropriately during a tour and was told off by the members, his reply was “ I’m sorry, this is my first time living this life, that’s why.“ 😅 Even mistakes can be used to something fruitful.

I was actually quite surprised "office meerkat" wasn't a more common meme because most Koreans got the reference right away. (I time to time feel like one too😂) Also the fact that Joshua is an assistant manager makes more sense because AM is the most pressuing position ever since you are stuck in the middle, has to do the most hands-on work but you are not yet qualified to be a team leader. "I just want to be a rock and do nothing in the future." Is a popular joke/phrase among Korean students and young adults (and even adults in their 30s) these days. Because you don't know what you really want to do and become yet but the world demands to make up your mind on your future as soon as possible. So you go on to study, prepare for exams and stuff without any solid goals. Which makes the end result nothing but a severe burn-out and deep lethargy. And that's when the idea of wanting to be a rock and doing nothing comes in. It is kind of sad but I think it is more universally common than office meerkat🤔

Someone else made this comment about DK: "DOKYEOM is a young adult who seems to be struggling and coping with stress in his studies and life in general. While this is relatable everywhere else, I feel like it's especially true in South Korea where they put value in studying and grades so much that a lot would say, 'Grades aren't everything'. His way of coping is to have a pet rock (who even won a trophy ). On his exam paper (apparently like an MBTI one taken when you apply for jobs), he even wrote Dol (rock) instead of the answer In one scene at the T(iny)ISSUE CLUB, he himself was the rock which what he also probably feels at times, that he is a Dol Meori (rock head) or someone whose head doesn't absorb anything/someone who isn't bright. Incidentally, I came across a video which claims that young people in SoKor now take rocks as pets to cope with stress since rocks are easier to take care of. I'm not sure tho how true this is but the video did include a clip of Jeonghan and his own pet rock, Doljjong, so some say JH was the one who started this trend Towards the end, we see DK throwing his pet rock away with Jeonghan, probably to symbolize him breaking out of his mindset that he'd never do good with his studies."

My interpretation of Jeonghan part is that he is scared to face the reality/future, so even if he could read the board ("forever is a lie"), he on purpose choice bad prescription making his own present difficult trying to avoid reality, and avoiding others help too, the doctor and the club members, until he take off the glasses and finally open to them.

i just want to enjoy the reaction but here i am, crying my bawls out again over the MV😭 anw, as for DK, just like Jeonghan, he also has a pet rock, and i've read that recently south koreans have pet rocks to deal with loneliness and burnout... at behind the scene, DK said that he wrote "rock" as his dream job because actually he doesn't want to apply for a job at the moment, to do nothing, just spacing out like a rock... but how can we do that, at that age and have no job???pressure from parents and family, others will look down to us...eventhough maybe we're actually in the middle of trying to figure out what we want to do in life...no, at that age, we should already have the answer~

Glad to see your reaction! Great as always! Here are my thoughts on the MV: Here are some of my thoughts--mixed in with thoughts of others I've found--regarding the video. Joshua ("Shua") has been likened to a meerkat by fans so it fits; and I guess he's wondered if he was lovingly called that or not, only to find he has a SHUA KAT fan club. Someone else explained it like this: "JOSHUA is an office worker who is like a meerkat, cause he seems to be looking at everyone, monitoring them. Turns out, in the note with the umbrella, it said Joshua Daeri-nim (Assistant Manager Joshua) meaning he must be at least a position higher than most of those around him. The reason why he's looking around is either cause he's a supervisor to them or he's anxious of what others might think about him, if he's doing a good job. He seems to be stressed about it that he even dreams about it, falling asleep in his car. Unknowingly, his colleagues actually support him, even having a Shua-kat Club. The note on the umbrella said 'Asst. Manager Joshua, thank you for lending me your umbrella' and we see him at the MV's beginning, how he's rained on. He also found a flyer with his photo that said 'We love how you look at us. Keep looking around like a meerkat and we will support you whatsoever, Shua-kat!'. Seems he himself didn't know that he's actually doing great in his job being an assistant manager." POLAROID CAPTION: 'With the Shua-kat Club' Woozi has said many times he HATES shopping, so he has groceries and food delivered; he even said in the behind the scenes video that the MV character actually fit him really well. So I think it's precious that when he finally overcomes his social anxiety to go shopping for himself, he thanks the helpful grandmother (a tip of the hat to his own grandmother who inspired the Vocal team's first song "20", as well as to Carats since it's the official flower of Carats) by giving her a bouquet of chamomiles. Chamomiles also represent calm and healing. POLAROID CAPTION: 'My friend who brought me out into the world' DK's pet rock's name is Dodol. He "adopted" a rock after Jeonghan got HIS pet rock named Doljjong. They take turns sharing pictures and updates on Weverse about their rocks, since the rocks keep them company. Perhaps DK is setting Dodol free...a way of releasing an inanimate rock and opening himself up to relationship with humans. (??) I think his line "I want to be by myself, but I don't want to be alone" as he keeps Dodol by his side is the story. (For the record, Jeonghan said THEIR pet rocks weren't thrown, though DK said Dodol WAS in the video with him...but it isn't his picture with the trophy. It was someone else's. So no pet rocks were harmed in the filming of this MV!) POLAROID CAPTION: 'With Dolkyeong, who won first place in the idling contest' Seungkwan LOVES his phone and has said he wouldn't be able to live without it. The caller on the phone reads "Unknown Caller" in Korean by the way. I also can't help but wonder if it's a little tribute to Moonbin who doesn't call him anymore; and one of the last videos we saw of Seungkwan and Moonbin together were them riding bikes...?? As for the goldfish, many are theorizing that it represents a distraction...something to snap him out of his funk and go outside. POLAROID CAPTION: 'I hope the day will come when my noisy alarm is less annoying" Jeonghan has said he doesn't like getting older as his eyesight is getting a little bad. That's one interpretation. Another is that as he matures, he realizes he doesn't need glasses to see the truth..."Forever Is A Lie"...and as he enters the T[iny]Issue Club with glasses on, his POV sees them as their characters (goldfish, pet rock, phone screen, etc.), and they then come into clear view as the members when the glasses are fully off. It's possible his sadness has to do with his soon enlisting...meaning this happy time in Seventeen's life won't last forever. Of course, Seventeen will ALWAYS live forever in our hearts; and the interruptions while members serve out their time will end and they'll regroup. Yet it will never be like it is now once the members temporarily separate. POLAROID CAPTION: 'Look directly at it, without glasses' So each member brought their fears, concerns, anxieties and heartaches to the Tiny Issue Club, or TIssue Club where they were able to talk things out, gain support and find REAL friends. There is absolutely NO reason to believe it will "never be like it is now" like it's a death. a finality. There was change between 2015 and 2024 and will be more between 2024 and 2032 and each era and timeline were, are, and will be precious. Wanting things to stay absolutely the same is denial for growth, too. Nobody should want that for Seventeen. It must be upsetting for them to see fans viewing their future so negatively like you and twit-tok stans are doing just because of enlistments. it's not going to be the end. other boygroups have proven that for years already so...
