This song was composed and lyrics written by Kim Dohoon (RBW CEO) and Solar herself. Song has her own story, she worked really hard on this and poured her whole soul. She participated in creating choreo as well as Galen Hooks, just look her up, she works with top tier western artists. The choreo with a matchstick is like she lights it from her heel, she said it's her favourite move. Solar decided and planned her solo a lot by herself just the way she wanted. The reason why she chose a bald moment at some point of her MV is that she wanted to debut and show her honest self. Her bare nature, her sincerity. Many of the staff didn't support that pretty extreme for a female idol concept but CEO agreed and believed in her. It's her way to show her true self. He always supported the girls, since day one they did what they wanted and had fun growing as artists, he guided them but they were free to choose concepts and genres. MAMAMOO became MAMAMOO because of this support I believe. Solar herself explains the song as her anthem to be all passionate in life, her hunger for challenges and new things. She won't hesitate to try and nothing will stop her. Something like that.

What's even funnier is that her mother is also somewhat of a troll. Friends of her mother would ask her (Mother Kim) if her daughter really cut her hair (bald). Her mother would tell them "I don't know, I haven't seen it yet" (teaser at the time). Yong asked her mother "Why didn't you just ask me?" to which her mother said "Because I already knew it was fake, I saw your Solarsido (episode)."

Imagine starting as a trainee being told you're not pretty enough to rely on looks and then almost 10 years later you're seen as one of the most beautiful female idol in the industry. She can embrace it and show it off all she wants. I would be running in the streets naked and getting arrested by the police. This entire MV reminded me of the time Moonbyul said Solar likes to dance naked in front of the mirror. It really feels like a "made by me" song and MV, both in the sense that it's relatable to her but also because there's striking elements of surprise and never-seen-before stuff which is what she (and Mamamoo) is always striving for. There's not a lot of artists on this planet who can create the anticipation of unexpectation; by that I mean that what people are expecting is to see something they didn't expect. It's a unique talent that very few people can pull off. HIP was exactly that, Wheein had that in her MV, Moonbyul pulled it off perfectly with Eclipse, and Solar does it again right there. I've heard a lot of rumors about a Hwasa solo coming in the next few months, this sounds like a very RBW thing to crank things up like that and finish the round of solo's with Hwasa mind blowing us all.

They weren't call not pretty enough to rely on it I think. i noticed that too. if you look at solar's casual outfits before they got really big (somewhere pre-2016), she would dress in a more girl-next-door cutie look, but then after she working out more like pole dancing and palates to get over her back issues (during 2017), she gained so much confidence to be more open about her body and isn't afraid to be herself, like she wears more crop tops that shows her abs, she does the concept she likes, she ripped her shirt in a concert because she thought "if male idols can do it then so can i". she's so inspiring and empowering.

So I like that it was in there. Also did anyone watch Farscape? These gloves are for real straight outta Farscape. When I saw a teaser picture I thought...Farscape director? Lol. For those wondering Farscape was a scyfy show from the late 90s created by Brian Henson(the Jim Henson co and son of Jim Henson) and Rockne O’Bannon. It was a great show if you’re into that sorta thing. Which has nothing to do with the theme of her video but they had very cutting edge costuming on the show.

SHE JUST WON HER 1ST WINNNN ♥♥♥ I love your review on Spit it out, I was really curious about what you had to say about it!!!! ^_^ It was indeed wash gloves in the MV! This is just my opinion but what I see from this MV is also Solar addressing her views to the current state of her society. It feels to me that this MV relates to the k-feminism movement that is starting to be popular in S. Korea (purple color for women's rights, the gloves that used to symbolize women at home doing the chores, the carts on fire for the consumerism, bald Solar to defy the beauty standards). It makes me feel good and I find her very brave for standing up for her ideas (in Solarsido she said they didn't want her to go bald in the MV at first but she stood up anyway). Really that is an excellent debut solo single :) I wish she gains confidence out of it and sings all she wants to sing! ♥

As always, I enjoy your insights! You touched on a key topic: individual style. Mamamoo's music has been consistently varied so that they cannot be boxed into one category, but you can definitely say that each time their strong presence and free spirits show loud and clear, which are enduring motifs regardless of how each member chooses to express their individual styles. Mamamoo does what Mamamoo wants, and here Solar does exactly that. This MV shows so much of herself: high energy and fun, colorful and bright, sexy and cute, elegant yet quirky, confident yet vulnerable. She was likely expected to belt out high notes with her signature power vocals, but instead we get soft, whispery, sultry lines, which I think created a much more powerful effect, contrasting with all the energy and vibrancy and all the fire-fire-fire.

Yeah ! I listened to the song in different stages. On first listen and musically, I’m on the same page with you. Recently finally got a breakdown of the lyrics which could help represent a lot of strength power and culture turn, for traditional Korean culture. Traditionally it’s the men telling women what to do, they’re in charge, they dominate, they have the control. I kind of feel she’s making a statement for women, especially in Korean society, saying she does what she wants, call my name, spit it out, giving the orders. Another creative revolution by Mamamoo, their CEO and RBW. Its so cool they are supported to create such messages in their work. Helping to create equality. So the lyrics are more what finally got me versus the song style / vibe. What ate your thoughts? 💛

This song is produced by Kim Dohoon (RBW CEO, that always write songs for MAMAMOO) and Solar! Yeah they produced it together. That's why actually it still has MAMAMOO's style in it but also Solar's character at the same time. Hwasa's TWIT also produced by Kim Dohoon with other producer, while Hwasa takes part in the lyrics. Moonbyul's Eclipse is produced by Lee Husang and Seo Youngbae (RBW Producers, there's some other people too that take part) but Kim Dohoon also take part in composing and in the lyrics, and Moonbyul write the lyrics too. While for Wheein case, Goodbye was produced by Jungkey, and EASY was produced by Park Woosang (RBW producer). I think that's the reason why Moonbyul and Wheein's solo songs are a bit different from MAMAMOO's style. But actually people that produced Eclipse and EASY are producers that also usually produce MAMAMOO's b-side tracks. While Kim Dohoon mostly produces the title tracks. ☺️☺️

Solar❤ What do you think about H&D? They released pre-debut song MV 'Unfamiliar' which is a B-side ont the album then they released they're MVs of double title tracks 'Soul' & 'Goodnight'. They seem connected.
