I found myself agreeing with everything you said about why YG is YG. Especially the part where each individual in YG's group are oozing with their own color and when they are in their group, it blends so well. I've been a YG Stan for more than 10 years, in fact BIGBANG brought me to KPOP. So I can relate to everything you said about YG Artists. Even in such a big group like Treasure, I can see their individual style shines through. But maybe that just because I've been watching them for so long. Treasure Map really helps us to learn more about their personality. Now that I see it, it's a great strategy for YG to show their variety side first before debuting, as people need to get used to each member to appreciate their individual presence more. ikon is Hanbinpop their music is heavily influence by him. Treasure's music is very close to BP for the past two years. Clearly YG is aiming for the western market. The amount of english lyrics says it all. The after result is evident. They are doing good internationally. The thing about this strategy, the moment they blow up in the global scene. Korean market will automatically fall into trap. Why did YG chose the western market? Because Korea isn't open yet for anything from the company since all the issues. I’m going to be honest. The chorus is probably my least favorite part, BUT I still find it very catchy and I like it a lot. The reason why I became a YG stan is because their music is different from mainstream kpop, different in a very good way. I know they are trying to venture out from what they've been doing since and they're starting it with Treasure, but I hope YG would never lose that music signature or character or whatever you call it. I hope they keep making unique, beautiful, easy to listen to kpop but not so kpop music, and not try hard to go with what trends nowadays. They arent copying yg. Groups are just going with the trend and some are trying to make it to the western market, so they follow the tastes there. Which ygs taste corresponds with. But you cant deny that blackpink and treasure are different from previous yg groups. Though its a bit too early to know for treasure, dunno if they go pop or hip hop. Also bruh, theres no recent releases from yg to even recommend you some. And rather than love scenario, i think come to me by treasure is out of the box (for yg, since their style was more chill,hip hop, or angst in the past).

If you notice, this "free creative control" for treasure at least is much better than before. As a performer I agree with YG that he did not focused on dancing. Y? Because in the first place they are singer and they will promote their song not their dancing ability so it should be singing and rapping ability. Choreography is kinda like decoration or an appetizer to the song. And I loved how YG focused on their ability as a singer and as a rapper than being brand as part of the lip sync community.

So like, I get how you can hear this song and not think of it as a typical YG-sounding song, and I had the same opinion at first, up until the outro after Hyunsuk goes, "shhh...treasure." That 'ooooohhhh na na na na' full group chant really reminded me of iKON's musical style...made me think that maybe B.I. had a hand in writing the song when I first heard it... but ultimately I think you're right; TREASURE is unlike any former YG debut... and the knife-cut choreography is just so damn impressive, and the song structure is so well done that it makes the song feel like it's over 4 minutes long, when the total run time is 3:17... it's unique and captivating, and the group is just oozing with talent... I have high hopes for the future of this group

There's actually 2 leaders for Treasure which is also new to YG. One of the Leader is Hyunsuk which is the one you mentioned that your favorite rapper. And the other is Jihoon which is part of the vocals - the one with pink hair💎

I’ve been struggling to find songs that hit me right away, and this was one of them. I think the little audio clips that were teased before had me thinking it was not going to be vocally focused, so I was wholly shocked when Yedam opened the song just slaying. I think they do a good job of making the dance breaks more interesting to listen to by adding small bits of vocals into them.

personally i rlly love the song, i respect others opinions ofc but in my case the chorus is actually the reason why i love this so much, i’ve been repeating the drop in my head since the teaser for this drop. tho i understand how the drop could feel “underwhelming” compare to the rest of the song, and it definitely throws u off, but that’s why it stands out for me, the sound is still very yg but it’s different from other artists from yg. plus like PD said this group is for sure a lot more performance base compare to their seniors so that’s rlly exciting, i mean they’re literally the future of yg hahah so overall i think it’s a very well rounded debut

Treasure has 2 leaders: Jihoon and Hyunsuk, because they were supposed to be two separeted groups (Treasure and Magnum,Hyunsuk being leader from Treasure and Jihoon from Magnum) but when Yoonbin left and YG decided to debut them as one, both of them stayed as leaders. your first impression of boy and treasure is everything what I wanted to say. When I heard the song at first, it didn't register at first but after listening to it for a few times and watching the MV and live performances, I was shocked & surprised to say the least. like woah this is the first time YG has a typical boygroup. Not in a bad way, I actually like it bcs treasure still have their style and a bit of YG influence. But in terms of choreo though, woaH WOW. like almost all of the other groups under YG doesn't do much dancing, like its usually very chill and swag meanwhile treasure is doing the absolute most and I LOVE IT. Not only that, YG idols image and their vibe are usually really cool and intimidating but treasure are the polar opposites. their members are all cuties and softies

Ruth Marie Nope. YG even let Winner and iKON produced and composed their own songs since WIN (WinKon’s survival show). And that’s the reason why AKMU choose YG over SM and JYP after Kpop Star because YG give them freedom to create music. All YG boy groups are self produce idol since day one.

I think that Blackpink are more "idol" like group than iKON cause they focus in dancing more than iKON do, also iKON choreographies are so simple compared to BP ones. Adding the fact that iKON write produce and even make choreographies themselves while Blackpink almost never participated in making songs and I find that a so "idol" like thing.

hmm i feel like ikon is pretty similar to other idol groups, considering how they all take part in producing their music + i feel that they have a lot of idol content like they appear on a lot of shows and have their own shows and stuff. they have a lot of promotional stuff and members have freedom. i think they've been to issac too. blackpink on the other hand despite how they mighty seem like an idol group, they are really different from the other groups, like how their choreo is always effortless lol and get so much shit for being easy. they also have really little content for music and tv shows. cant say they are much of artists either since they don't produce their own music 😔, but if you know you know, they are capable of doing so if they were allowed. still find it so strange how bp has gained so much success. moving on, if categorised, they would belong in the same category as 2ne1 n bigbang.

U can clearly see that i said "almost never" here i'm talking about the released songs YG rarely let them participate (I also said that comparing to iKON cause you can check that EVERY SINGLE SONG of iKON is made by them or they participated in making it). Blackping definitely know how to make songs themselves and they definitely have a lot of songs made by themselves (in YG ent, composing and writing songs is like homeworks for the trainees so everyone in YG knows how to do that)... What i was trying to say is that i think YG wants them to look more idol like by not letting them participating to make their own songs unlike their seniors. And you said the same thing by saying being idol means dancing rapping singing and not producing songs. But u also understood it as if i was saying they dont compose cause they don't know how...
