The song has grown onto me since my first listen. It's a lot calmer, so some were disappointed. After a few listens as usual I learned to love it. Sometimes the raps (as much as I love the girls) are just placed at the end just because. So I was glad that it didn't feel forced and just flowed with the rest of the song. Love that they didn't force Momo to do the "voice". She sounds great as usual, but still. Yes fans agree that this felt more like a Japanese release and/or should've been one with Perfect World as the Korean release instead. I like that formation at the start reminds me of The Feels starting formation with Chae in the middle and whatnot. Momo looked amazing with this red hair especially her solo scenes. Sana silver lilac hair is so pretty, she looks like a Barbie doll. The unit songs are so good especially Momo unit song Hello despite it not being everyone's fav 🥲 including her. Glad they are all able to participate this comeback OT9. Need to go a concert once it's safe in every way. The red and black outfits look so good especially how the heart designs were incorporated into the outfits. Not related to Twice, but NCT 2021 is COMINGGGGGGGGG.

"Still, there’s so much to love here. The bridge is another highlight, moving from bubbly rap to a harmony-rich build to an unexpected chant-along bonus hook without batting an eye (do some of those vocal ad-libs remind anyone else of the American Idol theme song?). Scientist is as assured and effortless as the girls themselves, and marks another notch in a discography that’s just getting stronger by the year." from TheBiasList Even though this is probably the calmest TWICE title track to date, honestly, if not because of TWICE's hard work and hard earned experience, this song is super simple and there's not too much "wow". But I guess it's because we're all used to KPOP bringing WHAT, OH. moments IN EVERY TITLE TRACK, we forgot how to react to much more simple and calmer songs. But because of TWICE's charisma just oozing out of every verse, this song sold me in an instant. TWICE's deep groovy voices is just so addicting I keep coming back to this song. I just love that TWICE is in their state of careers that they're assured that they can release a more comfortable song like this that showcases all of their strengths in a not "in your face" type of way but in a very sweet and heartfelt manner.

For me, Twice has always been a group on the periphery of my music taste. I liked their debut song a lot and then their next titles tracks weren't my taste as much, until fancy, feel special and the feels. I loved Scientist since the first listen, it surprised me in a good way, I loved the fact that some members seemed more comfortable with the vocal range of the song and it let them shine. This will defenitly will turn me from a casual listener to a more invested one; the song made me want to listen to their album for the first time and oh boy what I've missing. Overall, I really admire Twice bc they´ve have transitioned from their early years to adulthood very smoothly and it makes me excited to see what's next for them (as you said, they're not done). The only downside for me is that I wish there was more Jeongyeon in their title tracks, I know she's not in her best place atm, but this has always something I wished there was more of since I listened them from the first time bc I love her voice tone.
@exessen16843 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with your Jeongyeon opinion. Her voice is so unique and really stands out. She does have some bsides where she gets more but its a shame that she's never really highlighted in their title tracks (Yes Or Yes is kinda the only exception). It REALLY sucks that JYP shut down the opportunity for Cry For Me to be a title track. Jeongyeon had 2 choruses and really stood out in that song.. But then again she was on hiatus anyway then. Just bad timing all around :( Whatever happens next year with their contract I just hope Jeongyeon gets to do what she wants to do with no pressure and with the support from those around her

I'm so happy you liked it. I felt the EXACT same way as you, literally every single thing you pointed I commented about. This divided a lot of onces opinions, but I REALLY love it and it just gets better as more as you listen to it. AND THE ALBUM... PERFECTION. definitely AOTY for me.

They saved that half of the chorus into the entire 10/10 album :)

I completely agree with your more realized version of their older songs assessment. I'm new to Twice and have been going through their discography over the past couple of days. To be honest, their first couple of albums didn't really catch me with sounds like this. However, this song seems more full. It's probably a combination of those matured, more experienced vocal styles and newer age music production to compliment them. I do agree with everyone else that this song still feels a little flat compared to the other releases this year. It was a safe pick for a title track. Pretty sure we're all on that same page. However, in a vacuum, I love this song. It's bouncy, catchy, and not so bubbly it's obnoxious or anything. From what I've listened to of Twice thus far, they've always been good about pulling off the bubbly concepts in refreshing ways. Been enjoying my journey into their progression and growth. Thanks for the reactions!

There was something so refreshing about this song! I didn't adore it on first listen but found myself coming back for more again and again. I really enjoy that they let each of the members shine in this one, and let them do something different too like the lower tone Momo bridge and chorus Sana. I love the trajectory they're on! The one-two hit of I Cant Stop Me and Cry for Me is still my favorite, but I thoroughly enjoy listening to Scientist and the MV is captivating

YES EXACTLY, a mature progression of their cute songs of the past. Idk why everyone is saying what they are but this title track is a straight bop. So catchy right away and the low register is so soothing (cmon momo) Literally, the chorus is stuck in my head right away. Yeah the other songs on the album could have been GREAT title tracks too (i love Last Waltz) but there’s something about Scientist I love just as much! Thanks PD! (P.S the set reminded me of the doctor who tardis lmao)
