@@matthieusix3201 Um... This song is from somewhere between 1988 and 1990, depending on the source. A quick google search will bring that up. It's hard to tell on the live version, but there's also more modern characteristics to this song as well. Mike Badger, who started the La's, was born in 1962 as well, so it's impossible for this song to have been from the 60's.

@@countyfacts6920 ok dude but the comment from @ TDC NINJA means that the song has a 60's sound and feeling, but NOT That the song is from the sixties. this guys knows like everyone else that the la's is a 80-90's band. But their root sound gives their the credibility of a sixties band

When Letterman was on NBC with Late Night with David Letterman, it was show policy that musical guests, even big name acts, performed with the house band, usually at the expense of regular members of the group, likely due to cost concerns. Thus only Mavers and Power were on hand.

Did they just take the oportunity to record it live with the correct instrument? Or the most iconic one, perhaps he let on that he had one.....Were they aiming for the 60's/Rick tie in in the US. Real pop is due for a comeback. If the 50th anniversary remix of Abbey Road can sail as high as it deserves to, then the right kind of melodic, pure pop will tug once again at the heartstrings.
