In 1986, MJ didn't play most of the season due to a broken foot, came back in the playoffs, and dropped 63 points on the greatest Celtics roster ever assembled. Sure, Lebron is old. But he has AD who is 7th in MVP odds. He himself is 9th. He has DLo, a former and borderline current Allstar. He's playing a Nuggets team who has 1 MVP and zero Allstars, former or current (apart from bench man DeAndre Jordan from 8 years ago). Jamal Murray is the only Allstar-caliber player on the Nuggets. Maybe you can argue Aaron Gordon or KCP should make All-Defensive. But that's it. Plus, MJ was in his 2nd and 3rd season (didn't even get to play his 2nd season). In addition, MJ had to play BO5s whereas Lebron gets BO7s now, meaning he gets 4 chances to stop a sweep instead of 3. Still not enough help though, I guess.

But I don't think he realized he had made all those Finals because he was playing against a consistently weaker Eastern Conference. Love it. All the media talks about are the lakers in this series, brief mentions about the superior team, it’s not what the lakers aren’t doing but instead what Denver is. They’re starting off each game slowly and missing shots, 2nd half comes and it’s like they play with urgency and make adjustments that swing the game heavily in their favor. When Denver decides to show up, it’s over for pretty much anyone.

The Nuggets basically have a team of off-brand versions of former all-star players built around an all-time great. I don’t mean that disparagingly, I just mean if you wanted to to a player-comp for each of their starting 5, you’d have like 75% of prime Blake Griffin in Gordon, a sized-up 75% of prime Kyrie in Jamal Murray, 85% of prime Klay Thompson in Porter Jr, KCP is a solid role-player, and then you have a Larry Bird-Kevin McHale fusion in Jokic.
