I'm not sure what you're thinking of for a classic style fog light but something like the old Series 1 pork pie or D lamp could look nice as a combination of fog and number plate, assuming it's below the 1200mm limit. The Golf side repeaters look nice in their own right, I think for this something round with a chrome surround would fit the style better. There's one on a parts side being sold as part L6480A. I've always been a fan of this style as it looks like something from an old control panel.

Yeah those lamps are pretty cool. Would probably fit a used pair though otherwise a bit too shiney!

Do the windows not have slide locks?

They do, just not fitted yet. Hardly seems worth it with a canvas roof though
