Largemouth bass are not known for going for cut bait. They also are not generally scavengers unless they're hungry.

You might want to feed Gilbert some insect larvae so he can get some calcium for his growth. Larvae make up an important part of their natural diet when they are that small.

I found it very interesting that the bass didn't like the buffalo fish. Usually they'll eat anything... Have u thought about adding a low energy heater or would that not be healthy for the Gar to be around
