Nice video! In the Netherlands we are not allowed to place these traps because the government says mag pies and jack daws are not a pest bird. But we have so many of this corvids in our towns and villages!! In may we have around 80 or more nesting jack daws in the trees in our village!! We are not even allowed to disturb nests. Its all getting out of hand!

Oepss, I forgot to mention foxes and rats!!! Several citys have huge rat problems nowadays..................back to the dark ages!

Hartley Hare hi, I’ve got a fair bit of experience with culling pests. What are you trying to kill with the triple strength warfarin ? Personally I’d never used broken glass or needles, for me that’d be to much hassle to go to.

Hartley Hare strangely a few weeks ago, there was 5 magpies fighting in the road I managed to run over and kill 3 of them at the same time.. what are the chances of that !! Actually I was going to say mix warfarin with meaty cat food. Seems you’ve already thought of that. How about ground up paracetamol mixed with mince meat, or meaty cat food out of a tin. Put the concoction up on a high roof or something. So no cats can get it. I’m an animal lover too, love song birds. I’m in Uk so can’t come and do it unfortunately.

Hartley Hare Yes sleeping tablets would be good to. Personally I wouldn’t use the needles and the glass. Keep trying. What other food source do the magpies have, is someone else feeding them good food. Perhaps try again in winter when there natural food supply is running short.

Here in Canada, we do not require a license for these traps as magpies are regarded as aggressive pests and are disposed of once caught.

True, they are especially a nuisance in Edmonton - magpie capital of Canada. Day in day out... NYAK NYAKNYAKNYAKNYAKNYAK. I can't walk outside during the day without hearing them squaking off within ear shot, or closer - no exaggeration. My neighbors are tired of their noisy nyaking too.

stuff your sport, the birds have every right to live their lives as free as you do. if i ever come across a trap i will release the bird/s and the trap will never be used again. birds are not a pest but hunters are.

Dion Fitzgerald - It's not a "sport", you liberal flake. It's pest control. Where there are lots of magpies there are virtually no songbirds. They wipe them out by eating their eggs. But being a liberal you wouldn't know that because you don't care to study the problem. Also, your despicable English sparrows were introduced to the States and they also drive songbirds out of their nests, and sometimes outright kill them, especially tree swallows. I shoot every magpie, sparrow and starling I see. If you don't like it, tough.
