Guitar players, make sure you massage, stretch and strengthen your fingers a lot so you don't get trigger finger which will quite possibly end your guitar playing. It's very hard to recover from and if you can, it can come back, so beware to take care of your tendons! Do yourself a huge favor and do a search on what trigger finger is.

This is great stuff! I'm a bit over a year into learning and know a dozen or so songs playing with chords, but this is the one I'm going to get the riff down on.

I really appreciate your lessons. Something that would really help is that when you do the riff part is sticking the notes up for us to see. That way I could practice it by pausing it and not having to replay it over and over again. also it would help to see what you are actually doing since its hard to see where your fingers are sometime. Your lessons are super great though thanks!

Cadd9 sounds nice in the intro and verse instead of C

One of the greatest one-hit wonders ever. But it's strictly speaking an 80's song. It was released as a single in '88, '89 and re-released in '90 before it finally gained the success it deserved.

Brilliant lesson! I don't know if anyone else pointed this out, but a few touches I always include are: 1) Right as each C comes back around to G, I throw in a brief D/F# (edit: 200230); 2) My preferred way to do the D transition after the mute is to play it as a C shape two frets up (x54030). I've always enjoyed the dissonance of that chord; and 3) After the Middle 8, when the energy kinda turns up a notch, I think you'll find that each G and C pass through a D chord. In other words: G D C D G D C D, etc... Once again though, well-instructed here, and thanks for lending your talents!

Andy, I think the open strings in standard tuning are a chord -- like an E add something -- (you have your basic triad E, G,B, then an A and the D) .... Oh, another great video BTW!

Andy, I have learned a lot from your videos and am grateful to you..unfortunately my guitar just got trashed by hurricane Ian. So no practice for awhile.i do however still watch..I will one day get a new guitar and be back at it..saving this video as I love this song..

I would say that in the verse it is G, D, C and back to D briefly before going back to G.
@SuperJ3332 жыл бұрын
Yes, but an up strum on the open stings IS a chord (2.50) there's a lot of ways to look at it, but I'd call it a G6 - John Lennon used it all the time, and you can't play Jean Genie without it!

Brilliant, Andy! I am quite sure that you are into Stone Gods (based on your huge love for Dan), so can you put on some tutorials from Silver Spoons & Broken Bones. Dan and Richie crafted some perfect harmonised guitar pieces at the time.
