This (but in white with red decals) was my very first bike I bought myself when I was 11yrs old, 88 DT50-LC.... I rode that thing absolutely everywhere, with a group of guys I met that had everything from a KX60 to CR500's, of course, I could barely keep up with even the KX60, but it was an absolute blast, rode it all around town, trails, dirt.... I kept that thing for 3yrs until I needed to redo the top end of my 2nd bought bike at 12, an 84 CR250R 😅 So yes, it's a fantastic bike for a beginner or even a grown man (like I am now at 41 lol) to just cruise around town or some light trails. It'll do about 60mph if I can recall, but it takes forever to get there 😂

I've seen hundreds of them, they can be ridden at 14 where I live so you can't go a day without seeing at least a dozen here, after a while you start to recognize them, my older brother and his friends had many... and wrecked many... there are still plenty of mint ones for sale though. Also that fuel tank, not from that bike, each model year had different colors/graphics, kind of like the banshee, pw80, etc

I'm a bike guy and found this red and white one in Oregon with only 1500 original miles. Thinking it would be for my 15-year-old but it is in such great shape don't want to trash it out. I thought compression was low at 98 PSI so I rebuilt top end with piston rings and needle valve and went through carb and cleaned her up and had seat reupholstered. All original Tires and Wheels. Wondering what it is worth to someone before I cut my son loose on it LOL such a good looking bike!

This, if I can recall (almost 30yrs ago) was my very first bike I bought when I was like 11, it was a white and red I'm almost certain 1988 Yamaha DT50 (year I'm not certain with by seeing this blue one is an 88, unless they came in different colors)...."little"(actually as tall as a 125 motocross bike though) 50cc 2-stroke and I rode that thing absolutely everywhere for like 3yrs, I bought my next bike at 12yrs old which was an 84 CR250R....I used the 250R for dirt, the 50 I still rode absolutely everywhere else with a fake tag 🤣 Edit: since you didn't mention it....if I can recall, weren't these oil injected as well? I'm almost certain I remember mine was....then again, I had one of those Yamaha RT100's years later as my getting around town cruiser and I know that had oil injection, so I might be getting them confused being so damn long ago 😅
