Snowpiercer is a lose adaptation of the french comicbook Le Transperceneige. Which is probably the inspiration for this easter egg.

Well Snowpiercer is originally a French comic book, so I guess that the Frostpunk references to the tv show and movie went in a full circle.

if i had to guess The Last Autumn scenario tacks place in an alternative Canada most likely the southeastern Ontario and the southwestern Quebec area i say this as the Game (The Last Autumn scenario) Reminds me of that area from the general environment. to explain the french well still being in the area well what if they managed to keep some chunk of Quebec after the 7 Years War (also known as the French and Indian war for Americans reading) i say this since that area is up north not as far as most areas but dose have alot more infrastructure then far up north and since it can get cold with for Ottawa area has had temperature of -38.9 degrees Celsius (-38.02 degrees Fahrenheit) which isn't the coldest area of Canada but the infrastructure of the area historically speaking and navigable rivers the Ottawa River for example is connected to the the St. Lawrence River. for the Balkan war mentioned maybe an rekindling of conflict from "the Great Eastern Crisis" from 19 June 1875 - 13 July 1878 i do think resources are a main cause but the idea of a excuse of recent scars of conflict are reopen and the British are dragged into or willingly join it (since you only mention the Balkan wars of 8 October 1912 - 10 August 1913 think you could know a cause)

My theory is that the French dug their own cities deep underground to benefit from the earth's natural warmth and the isolation from the ground. It is entierly possible for them to have survived the great storm simply by being too deep underground to be bothered by it. Additionnaly such cities wouldn't through ressources as fast as those on the surface, thanks again to the thermal insulation of the earth, the geothermal potential and the fact that new housing and facilities could be excavated. The trains are likely responsible for bringing up excavated rubble to the surface and act as outposts to send foraging teams for ressources into the frostlands, furthermore new tracks could be built on the surface or underground to link the generator cities to the underground cities of the French. It is my own theory that the French and British companies responsible for their safeguard programs collaborated together so that eventually these two initiative would be brought together to give mankind an even better chance at survival, when you think about it, the generators were probably originally designed to send heat and power the underground cities while being able to support medium-sized communities to act asressource gathering posts for the underground hive.

While the underground thing makes sense i mean look at on the edge and the children mine. I dont think the generators where going to be used to heat underground cities. Mainly because of where they needed to be build to be as usefull as they are. You dont want to put such a undergroundcities near a generator. Also the trains seem way to big to be used for such a task.

I had thought about getting Frostpunk actually, but that's not the reason why I decided to check out the video. I just wanted to let you know that I was here because of your astounding RoN lore vids, and I really like how you go into detail with the worldbuilding into a lot of the videos you do, like the Inside lore vids. Just wanted to make this comment to say I'm excited to see which ever videos you do next because your narration and the intros you edit are so good! Your kind of videos are what gets me really into the worldbuilding in all kinds of media.

When I played, based on lore finding I found, I never quite discovered the bits about the sun dimming. But from research notes I discovered while playing, as well as loading screen lore hints, I got the impression, and got told, that it was a culmination of a powerfull meteorstrike happening shortly after the eruption of some massive vulcanic mountains, causing the dimming of the sun through the atmosphere, rather than the sun itself dimming. This in return led to a "nuclear winter" like situation that spiraled out of controll due to the amount of debri and ashes that all of this released into the atmosphere. Which is a likely scenario in which this could happen.

The lore squads in the Frostpunk subreddit have some insane individuals. Someone calculated the distance of the most likely launch point in the UK to find the location of the New Liverpool work site and found it to indeed be in the Quebec province of Canada. Add to this that we encounter the Winterhome construction convoy during Last Autumn and we encounter Americans in A New Home, all the evidence seems to point to the majority of generator sites built by the IEC being in the northern lands of Canada and perhaps Greenland.

Finally got my first playthrough done after like 5 attempts, kept screwing myself over doing bad stuff on the engineer route and the first try on worker route I magically complete the gen and all its upgrades like 10 days before the sea freezes

The real secret is rushing double shifts and running them on select buildings (the fishing docks, dockyards and gathering posts for the stuff unloaded at the docks mostly) and going slow but steady with maximum security on the construction site itself. Double shifts is probably the single most powerful law in all Frostpunk scenarios. 50% increased workforce to take a building from 10 working hours/day to operating 24/7 is stupidly efficient.

In our timeline, the Balkan Wars were barely avoided in 1886. with the treaty of Bucharest. It took the combined diplomatic effort of all of europes great powers and all they did was delay it until 1912. In Frostpunk's timeline that probably never happened because the great powers were all collapsing and couldn't stop it.

The irony is, people who built the generators probably werent allowed to use them to survive. And the asistant engineer in intro hopes she will avoid the fate of the dead. If she knew whats comming, she would probably envy them.

I like to pretend i am playing with the girl from the intro, and she's the one leading the generator construction. Yeah, she appears in the game and can be part of your team, and i just ignore it. We are clearly playing with different characters in every scenarios. In New Home, for example, i like to pretend i am playing with Lord Craven from The Refugees scenario, pretending he survived and eventually joined the people who have found the New London's generator. Roleplaying is just too fun 😊

@@Enclave_Engineer having played more and gotten more lore, as I understand it the Americans tried a ton of different survival strategies. We’ve seen several fail but it’s not outside the realm of possibility that they may have succeeded in other ways much like many of the other countries

The balkan war its referring is probably Serbo-Bulgar war of 1885. The Serbs attacked the Bulgars and got destroyed(bulgars were outnumbered and under supplied).

I don't think the sun is dimming I think it is because from another video I have watched on this topic that a volcano erupted in Indonesia and that caused the sun to get blocked out and it's even talked about in the new home scenario that some of the ash that got kicked up by the volcano managed to get into space it's somehow it's blocking out even more Sun

this is very poorly researched overall. the massive steam engines that make up cities are not steam cores, steam cores are a smaller, steam driven actuator used ingame to build smaller buildings. Also the film Snowpiercer is itself based off a French comic book, le Transperceniege. Creve-niege is a reference to the comic.
