David, known for his multiple wives, faced numerous family problems resulting in intrigues among wives and children seeking prestige and power.
Solomon emerges in biblical history during a tense period in the royal family. As a struggle for the throne of Israel unfolds due to the old age and weakness of King David, before this episode, Absalom, Solomon's half-brother, tried to usurp his father's throne but without success. Later, Adonijah, David's eldest surviving son, also attempted to proclaim himself king over Israel, echoing Absalom's move. Adonijah had the support of Joab, David's former general, and the priest Abiathar. He made numerous attempts to occupy the throne, including organizing a coronation festival.
However, upon discovering Adonijah's plan, Bathsheba, the prophet Nathan, the priest Zadok, and other allies worked to remind David of the unfulfilled promise regarding Solomon as his successor. Thus, David issued orders related to Solomon's ascent to the throne, and he was crowned king of Israel, anointed by Zadok.

Though wisdom was gifted to Solomon by God, his pride / prestige made him to refuse to seek God's help/ commands in choosing his life's decisions, though being the wisest king of the world. ( His father King David always took decisions after praying / consulting God and he was successful whenever he did as per God's advice / command). 1. 700 wives and 300 concubines ( total 1000) made him to tax his subjects heavily in order to meet all the expenditure of them . 2.To please / compromise his wives , he built many alters and worshipped their gods, and followed their traditions 3. He would not have had enough time to think and rule / administer his kingdom and spend time with his people properly. 4. Thus he became a bad example for his people to lead their lives (lazy life) against God Almighty's commands. 5. He was responsible for the division of the kingdom into two. His father David united all the 12😅 tribes into one kingdom. All his father's hard work became nothing because of him. 6. His people were unhappy at the end of his rule and revolted. 7. Opportunity/ wisdom / all resources for happy administration were given freely by God in the beginning of his royal life. wrong usage of freedom given by God to choose one's way of life and self pride made him a failure for himself and for all at the end of his life.

It did not end badly. The only reason ppl think it ended badly is because they do not study the Bible as well as they think they do. Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs heavily suggests that Solomon repented near the end of his life. God would not have inspired these books to be written if they were the work of an apostate king. Ecclesiastes is primarily about Solomon recognizing the fact that he fallen when he neglected his duty obey God's laws(Ecc. 12:13).

Despite how his life ended, Solomon was saved. People have always been saved by looking forwards to the Messiah or backwards to the Messiah. It's always been by faith alone. Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation. Jesus paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past, present, and future). That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation ❤️.
