Man. This was probably the best bike review format I’ve ever seen.

My husband convinced me to get the Expert version of this bike even tho I wanted the basic carbon (at quite a lower price). In the end, I'm super pumped about this bike. The 1x with eTap is so easy and thoughtless. The gearing on this version suits me well (easy enough on hills, but could go faster on the other end). The weight of this bike is freaky light. It is quite nimble, almost skittish. I tell everyone my bike is an Expert, I am not! I get better and faster every ride. It's quite different from my first gravel bike that was a basic model of a Salsa Fargo. I didn't like the price of the Expert, but I LOVE this bike. No regerts! ;)

Absolutely love your videos. I have road and mountain bikes. I still struggle to understand why the gravel market is hot..because I want to hit rocky sections, drops, all types of jumps and rock gardens without my back taking a beating. Decent drops are hard on my shoulders even with the rear suspension. Is a gravel for a young guy whose body can take such a beating? Need some help to understand.

Think about Gravel as “All road” and it makes perfect sense. They are unbeatable for mixed surface riding. If you’re purely doing rocky sections then MTB’s will be superior.

@@timdixo if one of those all roads is dirt, most dirt trails other than fire roads have bumps and chundery terrain and I want rear suspension even if no jumps nor rock gardens. Once I do fire roads, a rider would absolutely want to explore more than that. Appreciate the response but still don’t get it. Happy to try to understand.

@@jasonw3287 I commute with my gravel bike most days. I’m more comfortable than most other people on racier bikes, and I’m usually just as fast. I go for endurance rides on the weekend with my same bike, it does great there too. Often the pavement runs out and the route continues into an off-road wooded area, I just keep going until I come out the other side and eventually into the next paved area. I love that I’m not limited by the surface or conditions. If I want something more adventurous, maybe my bike isn’t optimal, but it will do alright for an occasional outing. For bike packing, I think its adaptability to conditions and surface types makes it the best option. The term gravel bike is admittedly a little dumb - it might as well be a road bike with a little bigger tires. For me, it’s a catch-all, best of all worlds option.

Snapped mine inside 30 miles on the downtube. I think the seat post went through the frame. It was the better coloured frame to this baby blue number. They didn’t have any uk stock left, I didn’t want the blue, so they upgraded me to the STR, which I guess is what your calling odd. I have to say the STR is a far nicer ride and is ace. Ace except for these things…. You can’t carry an under top tube bag if you want to bike pack, it weighs slightly more, it costs more, and you lose a bit of power on hill climbs.

I seriously looked at one last thanksgiving but wasn't sure if the 58 was too big for my 5'11. It's not like they also had a 56 I could try. Bought quite a different bike that day, the base stump jumper in s4. Half the price and twice the weight. Shop was having a 10% off sale so I had to buy something. Stumpy has been good.

Great video. But there’s no reason tubeless should lose that much air pressure if properly setup and with good sealant. I’ve ran 20 different sets over the years and I’d say I maybe lose 5-10 lbs of psi per week. And that’s at 70 psi

dude - this stem is installed UPSIDE DOWN :D look at accessory mount at 5:33 - this hole should be in the bottom. tip - on the stem you have some info printed (length and torque) - it should be on the non-drive side of the bike :)

With the 2023 you get to double your service costs, not only do you have to replace the Future Shock every couple of years but you also now get to worry about whether the overly complex rear suspension/post will hold up.

In paper this bike is great, but you need to ride it to realize how poor engineering it has. I've been using Specialized bikes for a while now, road and mountain, but this is a disaster that will make me go to another brand. The frame is much longer than it should be for the size. The number match, but the bike is so much bigger. Be careful, do not buy your typical size online. It is even worse with the laidback soft seatpost, that bounces way too much. The SRAM groupset is a disaster. The brakes are way too hard and do not allow for good adjustments. The gears do not change, they spank the cassete. And there is no flexibility for any gear ratio changes, as there are no options available for this model. The DT hub allows for the cassete to fall from the wheel without any locking system, and it splits into pieces, hard to put back. It is a huge disapointment.

Fortunately i bought mine at the store, so i bought the 54cm instead of the 56. They were the only brand that had stock at the time i remember. Everthing you said is correct. All the rubber plugs and protective pads in the bb area come loose or fall off. Even on mildly wet rides, i have to drain the frame. Poor design. I havent had cassette issues. That chain spanking the cassette is so annoying. i like the storage compartment in the down tube, very handy but thats about all. Overall a bit disapointing.
