For people disputing Yellow, in Japan it’s original Gameboy through and through as it just missed the GBC. In North America it’s…technically GBC Enhanced(like the black games that work on both) but it’s last minute hasty so it’s just giving each til town its namesake tint. That’s it. It’s very much an original Gameboy game.
@pass_2 ай бұрын
the line of what counts as an OG Gameboy game and a Gameboy colour game makes my brain melt, Pokémon yellow is listed as a Gameboy game but Nintendo considers it a Gameboy colour game as shown in the 3ds virtual console release and then wario land 3 got 2 separate releases and ahhhhh
@drfsupercenterАй бұрын
@@pass_ All of the black cartridge games are Game Boy games. Only the clear ones required a GBC. It's not even a backwards-compatibility thing here, they're literally DMG games that just have GBC enhancements. I might make my own video on the subject as it seems most people are unaware of how this worked (I was alive back then to actually experience it) Fun fact, you can put those clear GBC-only games in a Game Boy Pocket and they'll still boot. You'll get a screen saying you can't play it, and you need a GBC - but they do actually run an get past the Nintendo boot logo.

As someone who’s played Just Dance for over a decade, I thought it’d be interesting to mention that when Just dance 2020 came out, the Wii version of the game pulled more than 20% of the total sales during opening week, not more than switch (55%) but still more than PS4 and Xbox ONE. The only reason why they couldn’t keep bringing JD games to Wii was because Nintendo shut down Wii game production, otherwise we would most likely still be getting those every year.

Yes, Gold and Silver outside of South Korea will work on older Game Boy systems. 4:50 for clarification while Metal Slader Glory: Directors Cut is technically the final overall software release, it did not see a traditional physical release as it was exclusive to Nintendo Power flash cartridges (not to be confused with the American magazine) so regarding the final physical release that would go to Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 which released a year prior in 1999. Also I'd highly reccomend you watch the Famidaily episode on Metal Slader Glory for the Famicom if you want more context on that game as it's a historically important game.

Metal Slader Glory is very important as it's commercial failure caused HaL to become intertwined with Nintendo. You're totally wrong on 3DS as well. There were multiple very late production run games released for the 3DS in 2022 and I think one even came out in 2023. Andro Dunos 2 was one of them, the Atooi Collection from Limited Run, Go Go Kokopolo (I have a review video on those games on my channel) and 1-2 others I can't recall at the moment. They were all indie games that were made in the final batch of cartridges produced by Nintendo, which I think happened in 2022 - definitely after your 2021 game Edit: as for New3DS, the reason they had to charge 8 cents is just because of Nintendo's rules. Third-party developers were not allowed to make free apps/games, because they figured that would lead to abuse - you were required to put a price. The only free downloads came from Nintendo directly. 8 cents was likely the absolute lowest they could set it to. But again this is kind of a misleading premise as the New3DS is simply a 3DS with more RAM/CPU power - all 3DS games run in a New 3DS, so the final 3DS titles are also the final New3DS titles. Just like the black Game Boy games that worked in DMG/GBC

Pokemon Silver and Gold were both Gameboy games sold as GBC games.

Nope, it was Kirby‘s Dreamland 3 that came out in 1997 for the super Nintendo, which was that I believe to be the last game for the system.

Correction: The last game on the NES was actually Lion King

Are you going to do this for PlayStation consoles?

I would say the best experiences on Virtual Boy at least imho are Wario Land and Mario's Tennis.

weren't the mario and zelda anniversary game and watches still part of the game and watch line?
@jimmyrolls372 ай бұрын
Yes and no. It's kind of cheating. The actual game and watch games were specifically designed to fit the calculator like hardware, where as these were basically emulating nes and gb games. So kinda kinda not

I would say, for the last game on the original Game Boy, Pokémon Gold and Silver released a year after Yellow, and those games were playable on the OG GB since they were produced on OG GB cartridges, however, the games were meant to be played on GBC since the games had color. I would still argue they are newer games that were playable on the OG GB than Yellow. Pokémon Crystal would be made only for the GBC and not playable on an OG GB. The last true games made and playable on the OG GB, according to my research, are "Shikakui Atama o Maruku Suru: Kanji no Tatsujin" and "Shikakui Atama o Maruku Suru: Keisan no Tatsujin". I'm assuming these are all North American releases, not overall releases, which I would say is a bit misleading since someone in Japan might have a different lilst of 'last release' than someone in NA or EU. As feedback for this video, maybe you should specify that somewhere. You only mentioned it once, maybe twice, and it was for Madden 08 in NA and Ratatouille in EU for Game Cube. Let's keep in mind that Yellow was the last North American and PAL release in 1999 and 2000, respectively, and the 2 Japanese titles were overall the last games, releasing in 2001.
