Bought the Raptor version for a bolt action build. Honestly most of us are never gonna shoot past 300 yards, let alone 500. This magnification range is perfect for most people. 2.5 is fine for close work and 10x is adequate out to a 1000. Sure, a higher magnification range is good for punching paper, but for maximum versatility and functionality I love this magnification range. I went into their store and tried out the reticle before buying one. The reticle at 2.5 VERY visible, that reticle takes up whole scope at 10x.

I had one from the first production run. Got it on sale for $450 after they sued by Leupold for some of the turret design features and some cosmetic issues. I loved the steel on steel construction, glass quality and tracking. I had an Athlon Ares BTR 2.5-15 FFP and had to decide which to keep. The Ares was a touch clearer, but it had noticeable chromatic aberration with darker colors. It was noticebly heavier, too. I kept the GLx. I did end up selling it. I realize that this is a late comment, but I got the GLX 2.5-10x for my "field" rifle. I actually sold my 1-6x Razor. I guess I got tired of the compromises. Anyway, that little issue that you mentioned with the hash marks lining up was driving me crazy. Yeah, a touch of OCD. Instead of trying to force the cap, try this. When you set the zero stop, take note on the red collar that engages the click button on the cap. It is anchored at a single point and allows for a little play. What I did was, when tightening the (red) zero stop collar, put a bit of counter clockwise pressure on it as you hold it up. Then start tightening at the set screw opposite the anchor point. This lined up the hash marks for me. Enjoyed your review. Your and Hop's comments lead me to try it out and went with it instead of the PST. I also had a bit of trouble with the Chevron. I just zeroed using the 2 mil hash mark and dial up 2 mils when I want to use the Chevron. I'm gonna use it like that for a while and see how it works out. Great video and thanks for the honest review. I wanted to ask with the expanding introduction of LPVO with 1-10 FFP capabilities for a general scope used with 5.56 or 308 for run and gun and shooting out to 1000 yards would those be a better option than the 2 or 2.5 to 10? Their tubes are more narrow, so, maybe they are more limiting in terms of image brightness and maybe that is sufficient to justify the move up to the 2.5 to 10. I have not had the opportunity to shoot a 1-10 nor a 2.5 to 10 so your feedback is very helpful. PS I like your dog and I like that you include him in your videos, mine are always with me except when I go shooting.

The sum up of the scope and the sorry state of the market leaves this item with a "didn't hit it out of the park but no one else tried" vibe as a primary thought. The second part of the scope is the catering to price point and the performance leaves the value for dollar higher than scopes double the money. This is both because of the sorry state of the oversaturated LPVO market and the distinct forcing of a DMR rifle to move away from this precise power range. I researched for about 5 weeks watching reviews on lpvos and nearly fell down the Vortex rabbit hole and have the new primary arms PLX LPVO on order (I owned the old one and they let me warranty exchange for the new one after illumination failure) and I can say I've had bad overall experience with their illumination but their reticle design feels the most thought out. I kept waffling with trying to wait out the pre-order versus the fact it's a sin to consider running a 308 with no parallax adjustment. The LPVO has an intended home on a 5.56mm but will be my "nicest" scope and the 308 is my "nicest" rifle. So I juggled this for weeks and you basically summed up over a month of research into 20 minutes of video. Takeaways is scope is worth it, compromises are reasonable compared to purpose and reticle holds and turret tracking are well on point for price and able to withstand abuse. Literally gonna dig through your channel and see what else you know and what other big ass L you can save me from. Cuz if I had settled on an LPVO I'd kick myself. You a bad man.

I ran an NXS 2.5-10x42 for a while. I found the Paralax to be annoyingly finicky. Also, the reticle choices are 15 years old and you can’t lock the windage turret. I think FFP is better in this magnification range but it being SFP was not my biggest issue with it. With some minor updating the NXS could be a real contender here.
@CutlassOutdoors6 ай бұрын
@@MrCannonls Thanks for that take. I have one now, but I haven't really had much of a chance to use it. I'm happy with it so far. Did you see that they did a limited run of the 2.5-10x24? You likely won't see this, but what would your thoughts be on running a T2 type optic on that piggyback set up where you have your RMR? I mostly ask because that would net you am enclosed emitter, long batter life, and in some cases better NV use (from what I understand). Seems like it would be a few ounces heavier, but aside from that I can't think of any downsides. I've also never used a piggyback setup like that though.
@booba89302 жыл бұрын
There's been a lot of people using T2's over RMR's on top of magnified optics, both variable and ACOG's. This is happening as companies are finally producing mounts for them. It's definitely a viable option and better than an RMR on paper
@mckennaConfig2 жыл бұрын
I dk. I appreciate your SPR concept but relying on 5.56 to have first round hits at 600 yards seems like a fools errand. IMO, even in the worst case scenario as a civilian, if you need a first round hit at that distance, use a .308 rifle or be willing to accept follow up shots. 5.56 really is ideal 0-300 yards while still capable to 600. In that regard, 1-6x is the best LPVO setup.

The NXS 2.5-10 is SFP. That's a deal breaker for most. In terms of FFP medium power variable power scope with parallax adjustment the options seem to be very limited. We have this, the Vortex PST 2-10.
@ghostlight694202 жыл бұрын
@@mohawk3371 Yeah it is limited, and there's good reason. At any distance where you can't use 10x, you also don't need to holdover. And if you do, just dial to 5x and recall that each mil dot in the reticle is actually .5 mil. Or just dial. This isn't some big 5-25x scope. Optic companies generally don't make 2-10x FFP because it just makes the scope heavy, expensive, less optically correct, in addition to problems that can be had when your reticle changes size constantly. As the distance (at the target) between hash marks grows, so does the thickness of the crosshairs. Be glad for once that they aren't selling you something you don't need. God bless and good luck.
@mohawk33712 жыл бұрын
@@ghostlight69420 For competition, or recreational applications, where you're only concerned with shooting known targets at known distances, and not running in a team, then sure I agree. But in real world applications where you are scanning for threats/targets, and may have a narrow time window to engage targets, while maintaining situational awareness, and a common tactical picture with your team mates, it is very helpful to have a FFP. There is a reason why not only most popular LPVOs, but most scopes in use by the military (the old school Army NXS 2.5-10 F1, the Marine's VCOG SCO, SOCOM's NF ATACR, the Army's Sig tango6t sdmr/dvo ect.) are mostly FFP.
@ghostlight694202 жыл бұрын
@@mohawk3371 Ah...do much runnin in a team do ya? Thanks pal I needed a chuckle. Again, its just a 10x scope, it's going to be hard to get lost in it, and if so just dial to 5 and remember the rule of thumb for callouts. Frankly I don't care what the military is wasting my money on these days and neither should you. Understand the drawbacks of the lighter, simpler, less expensive, and better proven SFP and pick that one.
