this was a good ending and a good game. the ending left me satisfied rather than sad as i thought it would. the ending was almost perfect because realistically as this game is, trico and the boy can't live with each other so they must be separated as the nature of it won't allow wild animals to live within the rules of society. although separated i am much happy that trico and the boy didn't die. this game was very well made and i dont care what others say because they don't understand this masterpiece or appreciate the art that this game is.

Pretty sure the other Trico's survived their falls, our Trico was struck by lightning and fell from what looked like an even greater height and survived, and also fell from many other places during the course of the game. Plus Tricos seem to have regenerative abilities; Trico lost their tail when they were struck by the lightning but it grows back. You can see at the beginning of the game that Trico's tail barely touches the ground when much later in the game a good bit of it drags on the ground behind them, showing that it is in fact growing back. Same with their horns and wings. So I think it's safe to say that Tricos as a species are pretty robust.

19:15 this scene gets me choked up everytime, if there is something that we have in common with animals, its the need for freedom. And this scene beautifully encapsulates that feeling, the distance of the camera, Trico's hesitation and then running through the trees where you can no longer see him, and then that flight into the sun....just beautifully done.

Mayeur000Donz Well, every team ico game ends sad but with some hope, this one is exactely the same. ICO. Ico finds Yorda stranded on the beach alive. But they never state if this is a dream sequence or not. The creator wants to leave this open for interpretation. SOTC. Wander turns into a baby with horns, girl lives, horse lives. Everybody lives. Their future however is open for interpretation. Last guardian. Main character shines light of the shield in the sky. Trico is alive, and has a kid. But if they will ever meet again is open for interpretation.

The ending was bittersweet, and it was honestly perfect. I love that even though they're far apart, they're still connected by their unbreakable bond after everything they'd been through together. It's also a comfort to those of us who've lost pets. The music and camera panning were just perfect, and you'd need to be made of stone not to cry. I just completed it tonight and it was so worth the wait, definitely one of the greatest games I've ever played. Team Ico games are honestly some of the best, I hope they make another

Okay. I think I understand. This being in the tower needs to run off of human essence to live. So it brainwashes Tricos to kidnap and feed humans to it. My guess is the barrels it rewards them are it's byproducts or waste. Our boy was originally kidnapped by his Trico but before the creature could get away, he was attacked by the villagers suffering spear wounds to the shoulder and flank. Trico flies back to the lair but collapses before he could get to the tower with the boy. The automatons find Trico, carry him back and chain him up not realizing the boy is still inside him. Trico coughs the boy up and that is why he wakes up where he is in the beginning. Just guessing but it makes sense to me.

AnnoyingSquib I also think that trico developed in a way that helps him not to get controled by the tower master because of the boy and the other tricos died with the tower master because they were under its control. As for the other trico whom attacked the boy earlier in the game he got his horns broken so he wasn't under the control of the tower which is why he lived.

I'm gonna sound like a real nerd here but it's all about lift and drag. When you take flight with feathered wings you can afford to drop a few feathers but important thing is that you have momentum and drag to allow that wing structure to function properly then you can create some sort of flight. However in Trico's case he still crashed into a cliff and into a village so I wouldn't say it didn't affect him entirely.

For me, this left more questions then answers. Why are the Tricos wearing armor, who made them? Oh, the magically controlled soldiers? Well who made them? Who created the tower, and why did they create the tower? What do the symbols expressed throughout the game mean? Magic spells? Why though? I wish there could have been more background to this. We only got 2 decent cutscenes before the ending scene. I know it was all left up to imagination for SotC as well, but I felt more satisfied with that game then I did with The Last Guardian. I am however happy that both Trico and the boy lived. But it would have been nice to see all of Trico (not just eyes) in the end with a hidden nest of baby Tricos. Or maybe when the mirror was shown in the sky, Trico could have come flying full speed into the village, majestic and healthy as ever. I'm pretty dissatisfied with the plot progression and the lack of info that would have made this game so much more fulfilling. BUT AT LEAST THEY FINALLY FUCKING RELEASED IT! Gotta give them props for the AI engine that powers Trico. That shit must've been a decade long headache for the computer engineers. Still a great game, and collectible for me.

I think the story goes like this: A man found the nest of the guardians and started to build wonderful marvels inside with their help (the beautiful temples and towers) perhaps became old and realized that he would not be around much longer. His goal to live forever no matter what the cost leading him to develop the light energy that gives life to the stone guards and tunes-into the guardian's horns. The reason I think this is because the tomb where you pick up the light sheild has a coffin linked to tubing in the walls. The same light that makes trico attack can hurt the mind of the master in the top of the tower. So my best guess is this all came about by one man's quest for immortality, enslaving his once beloved pets to gather more soul energy to keep his body alive in it's tomb.

Mike Hawk Damn, I think that's a really sad ending. Trico gets heavily injured by both the other Tricos as well as the humans, all to save the boy. And in the end they get separated, and Trico is in a terrible condition. The man even said that doesn't have long to live. What a great game, but every Team Ico's game has had a sad ending.

Hm, I think the game should've had a happy ending. This one isn't as bad as I thought it would be before I saw the "after-credits scene", but still. If I had to write it, Trico would've returned to the village when the boy with the tattoos was an adult man and would become the guardian of the village. Beasts and humans would support and protect each other. Trico and the boy have been through so much crap and joy together, became close friends.. they shouldn't live so far apart from each other.

The after-credits scene will make me teary no matter how many times I watched it. It shows that Trico's alive and well, and that they're still connected through the mirror. Trico FELT the connection and reacted to the boy (now a man) holding the mirror to the sky towards Trico. A truly bittersweet ending from a game that will stick with me forever. "Breathtaking" doesn't to it justice.

StarryAqua I believe that the beasts horns also have something to do with the Master of the Valley's mind control, which is why you see Trico lose control a couple times. But Trico later learns to control it. Remember that after Trico was struck by lighting at the beginning of the game, it had a nasty fall. Which basically destroyed it's helmet, causing it to lose any mind control capabilities it may have had.

it was probably covered in dirt and over time rain and wind eventually wiped some dirt off of it, allowing it to glow from the sunlight. After all Trico kicked up a lot of dirt when he ran to take off.

the barrels are not human remnants neither butterflies. is a substance that was mined in the valley. I don't know if you noticed throughout the game there were some places where mining seems to have ocurred and they (the creepy armors) harvested and prepared it. they were given to the tricos for them to keep living and heal in case they had been injured. (just like organisms need food, they needed something too) this substance attracted butterflies that seemed to eat it too.

Ya know. I don't know if it was purposely brilliant, or an accident. All the struggle to control him, when he wouldn't listen.. seemed at times like a game glitch, and was so frustrating. But in the end, THAT VERY THING. Built character relationship. And at the end, I cried like a baby. We had been thru so much. so much struggle. Brilliant

theres a few complications with that. I think the beasts (trico included) survive off humans. they need to turn humans into those blueish liquid and consume it to prolong. unfortunately now with the tower destroyed, all the beasts will starve to death.

WAIT... Trico had really short wings throughout the whole game but near the end you fight another guardian with long wings, but you take off all its armour, and at the end, that guardian flies away.. It ends with a guardian, and the real trico was the one on the breaking pillar! So.. ...Trico died?!

My theory about the castle/temple thing - the Tricos were originally living there and when the alien blob thing landed, it mind controlled humans to build the temple there so it could use the Tricos. Eventually it made the suits of armor and killed off the humans or let them die since they weren't needed anymore (maybe they were hard to control or the alien was afraid of them destroying it). Which is why you see switches and things around. The mirror and tomb where you find it could've been left over from the last human who was running the place.

I doubt it, especially given the development hell this game alone has gone through. This is more in the reigns of The Iron Giant, which just ends on a note of "they'll be alright, kids. Don't worry".

I would love a sequel that explains more about the world they've built up. There are hundreds of important, yet unanswered questions and I would like to see more of this world than just some nonsensical temples that were only build for riddle-stuff. But if I were one of the developers, I'd say "No. It was a tough fight to finally finish the game, we won't go through that again".

I would have totally stayed in the ruins with Trico. Fuck those villagers, I'm never leaving my catbird! I have to admit, it was a good, bittersweet ending but that part where his tale got ripped off... and having to watch him be attacked by the other humans, it was just too brutal for me. At least it seems like we might reunite again.
