Agree with your takes Chris! On stage 20 last year, Pog wanted the win to make up for his terrible day on La Loze, and Jonas didn't take a single pull, he had over 7 minute lead but still marked Pog as if he was 10 sec behind. They got caught by a bunch of other people and Pog had to win the sprint with an amazing leadout from Adam Yates. Nobody gifted Pog last year stage 20 as a consolation because he cracked spectacularly on La Loze and lost the tour by over 7 minutes. And that's fine. Then, Visma didn't hesitate to win the 3 grand tours last year. In La Vuelta they won 5 stages and went 1,2,3 in the GC, no apologies, no gifts, and that's all good. The thing that was not cool was Jonas and Roglic attacking Sepp, their own teammate!!, that's actually bad. Sepp Kuss saved his Vuelta thanks to Mikel Landa who was not even his teammate but pulled him on Angliru. Pog not gifting the stage today was not mean and not even revenge. It is a competition and if he is in the position to win he should try, as long as he is not attacking his teammate!

I’m happy the day ended with another battle between the top riders. Pogacar came into the tour with otherworldly form backed by an incredible team, and he should reap all the rewards of his efforts. To those thinking that Pogacar should have gifted the stage to Jonas, let’s not forget that Jonas and Primoz had no problem putting their own teammate Sepp Kuss to the sword while he was leading the Vuelta. There are no expectations of gifts in professional sport, especially between opposing teams. Besides, I think the fact Pogacar and UAE gave no gifts this tour makes Carapaz’s KOM jersey feel much more satisfying.

Put salt on the wound by taking the podium of the vuelta with Pog, Yates, and Ayuso. 😂

I was worried for Victor for a moment at the beginning until I realised he was on 'sprinter towing' duty.

How about a sweep? Vuelta, Olympics, and world champ? Seems he's on a roll. Quite greedy but doable!👊🦋

Jonas wouldn't pull with Remco a few days ago to attempt to reel in Pogacar. Give him no quarter.

Been waiting to hear the 🦋 take on Jorgensen taking the first KOM, the breakaway tactics, and of course the final attack by Pogi. Let's go!

Or Jorgensen taking the last point on the first KOM, at least.

I swear Jorgensen did that just because UAE indicated he should back off and let Carapaz take it,

I think Jorg could have a waited a sec but it was most likely to get away in the break. Bad timing though. 🤔🦋😱

During the Stage 20 post race interview, when he was asked about ‘the little shenanigans for the mountain points earlier on’, Matteo made the below comments. “Yesterday I felt like I just gave them for free. He didn’t even have to sprint for them. I donno why I did that, he wasn’t really contributing so much. So I just thought today I’m at least gonna make him sprint for it. But I guess he didn’t expect it, because yesterday he had a free ride. It’s just a bit of fun.”

I know it would be great for Tadje to go for la Vuelta but he has other riders in his team who work hard for him would like a shot. As Chris says though, if the money is right

If they do that they will lose. Rog and Remco can both beat anyone else on UAE
@zerog42615 ай бұрын
@@TerryRodrigue-l3b whether Tadje goes or not, they will be sending a team, like they do to every Tour. To satisfy their riders is important, there are other riders who would like to be leader. They have done it ever year previous to this and every team does the same. Also, are the afore mentioned both doing La Vuelta? For sure.

I appreciate Soudal showing some class at the front today. I liked the "wolf pack" days. Are they trying to show Remco something amidst his Red Bull-Bora side girl situation?

It's ridiculous that some people are criticizing Pog for not offering the stage to Vingegaard. Offering? This is not the kindergarden! I don't remember Vingegaard offering any stage to Pog the last 2 seasons. And he did try to win many days. And for Jonas to even mentioning it shows lack of class, in my opinion. Same for Visma staff mentioning it.
