A YEAR AT SILLYWREA, BRITAIN'S ONLY HORSE-POWERED FARM.
A year in the life of the remarkable John Dodd who farms in the stunning landscape of the Allen Valley in Northumberland. John is unique: instead of using tractors, he still relies on five giant Clydesdale horses to work the land. He has passed on his skills to his son-in-law David and is now teaching his grandson Richard. Together they battle the elements to make a living for themselves and preserve a rare and wonderful way of life. This beautifully photographed film is based on the acclaimed Tyne Tees Television series The Last Horsemen.
DVD includes NEW chapter/episode "A Good Day Off", consisting of previously unseen footage of John and David enjoying a trip to the closing down sale of a Shire horse museum. As buyers compete for lots coming under the hammer high prices are paid for gleaming harness and majestic horses. But John and David still manage to come home with a bargain or two!
