I had a girlfriend who lived just a few houses down the street from Buster's. He was a big supporter of our Little League team in the early 1960's and I have wonderful home movies of his participation in our opening day parade down Fallbrook Ave.

So sad, over in the UK we would have slapped a blue plaque on it and it would have remained. Such an icon should have had just one house to be remembered by.

For Buster, that would have to be the "Italian Villa," as it's called. That's the mansion he built for Natalie. It's still there, owned by some billionaire TV producer or somesuch, the last I read of it.

I recently began watching various urban explorers as they explore abandoned homes and mansions in numerous areas. I've seen multi-million dollar mansions - only a few years old - about to he demolished. I saw one in immaculate condition that was due to be razed. It's incomprehensible to me.

It is a shame😞... Buster was a Hollywood legend. Sounds like he made the best of his life despite obstacles and overcame them and went on to enjoy his retirement. It's a testament to his character how he interacted with folks instead of becoming a bitter recluse... Loved that he gave his walnuts as Christmas gifts, raised chickens and fruit trees.Good to see Jah. Thanks Jordan☺💝🎆🐶

Well told, Jordan. It is sad about the house’s demolition. Similarly, I was surprised to see changes occurring at Cary Grant’s former Beverly Grove house. Could be more severe than that, though. I hope it, too, hasn’t been demolished.

My mom loved Buster Keaton. I honestly didn’t know that much about him until I watched this vlog. You’re very well versed with all your knowledge of these Hollywood greats. That really sucks about his house. They should leave such places alone and mark them with markers like they do in the UK. Keep up the great work....we all enjoy listening and watching your videos. 🥰

Hi Jordan. A short film he made here in Canada is free on KZbin from the official National Film Board of Canada called “The Railrodder” It’s about a man who crosses the entirety of the country on a little rail car. He’s the only one in the movie, there’s no dialogue and it is such a sentimental favourite for many of us Canadians. Used to see it on holidays, spring break etc. You would enjoy it. Filmed in the late 60’s I believe.

Jordan 🇯🇴 as in all of your vlogs you tell the truth about what is in your vlogs, we could never get upset with you for doing so! You definitely have chosen one of the greatest talents that graced the screen and made us laugh with his dead pan antics. The General was and is to this day a legendary work, his early films show how his skills were above what other actors would or could do. He was one of a kind guy. Also one of my favorites.

A great shame to have knocked down a house with historical Hollywood interest, particularly from a person who was one of the early pioneers of film. Although this sort of thing happens here in the UK, it is to a lesser degree. We have had many old cinemas demolished over the years, but some have been saved and turned into something else like antique markets etc. I watch your vlogs all the time and it’s interesting to see how areas change over the years, not always for the better. Bygone eras need to be preserved as much as they can be, as buildings and items are all part of our history. Thanks for another interesting video David in the UK

You did a great job with this video, Jordan. As always, you do your research beforehand and offer such wonderful info as you go along. Buster Keaton is my all time favorite, his movies are the best. He was extremely effective in telling a story just by sharing his emotions with his eyes and his facial expressions. Who can possibly do that today? I could tell that something really awful had happened to him in his life because he aged so badly. I wondered what happened. Be blessed and love to Jah!

I lived on the opposite end of the street, I raked up walnut leaves in his front yard, Eleanor let my friend and I play pool in his game room. He came to my door once with a clip board and gave me a job, a show about movie star homes was going to film his house, inside and out. My job was to watch his St Bernard while they filmed. If you ever find that series I would love to see it, I'm in the back ground holding the dog. If you look hard you can see his Emmy on the floor under a parrot cage! Jordan, you need not apologize. I'm with you - it's so sad to see people have a disregard for the history of an area. One would think that the owners of that property would want to live in such an historic home as Buster Keaton's. Obviously not everyone appreciates the history of Old Hollywood.

Thank you Jordan. I really appreciate how you bring your subject matter 'alive ' with your passionate enthusiasm and great research. And I, too, am so sad about the destruction of Hollywood's history. However, I enjoyed your presentation of Buster Keaton's last home today, I feel, just as much as I would if the house had still been there. Why? Because you showed us photos of him at his house along with your wonderful stories of him playing in the yard with children and gathering walnuts from his trees and giving them as gifts to his friends. You gave a beautiful picture of Buster, happy at last in his last home, loving his life and friends and surrounded by those he loved. What a beautiful tribute, Jordan. Thank you for bringing your gift to us and honoring Buster Keaton.

I agree Jordan it is sad that so many historical homes and buildings are being torn down. The owner of the Liberace house you vlogged was from England and even he said in England they preserve historical places unlike here they are not valued. Seattle has gotten that way too. its almost unrecognizable with all the new ugly glass highrises that no on can afford going up.

I am a big Buster Keaton fan too! I love his movies. It is a shame what Hollywood did/does to people. I also noticed during your travels, LA didn’t seem to preserve their great history like other places do. Its everybody’s history, really. It’s sad because we none of us has it now! I never liked the LA. I had a friend who lived there when I lived in the Bay Area. I felt overwhelmed by the traffic and except for a handful of spots, it was endless strip malls with palm trees and really good weather. I grew up surrounded by history, and I appreciated it!

That is very sad to hear about how they tear down things to rebuild something new on the same site. If I moved in somewhere and found out that it was owned by a famous actor who I enjoyed their work I would definitely keep it and try to maintain the place. Even put out like a plaque so people like yourself Jordan doing vlogs would know who owned the house and all at one time. Some of the older buildings just have something more to them I hate to say it than the newer buildings that replace it. Enjoy watching your vlogs and hope that you are enjoying your new home.

It makes me so sad that the house on Sylvan is gone. It's where he spent his happiest years, with his beloved Eleanor. But it never got historic preservation status. It was special to Buster's fans, but it was just a normal ranch house that the authorities didn't deem to be worthy of protection. Maybe you can do a vlog on the house at 1043 Victoria Ave. where he lived before this one. The home on Victoria is where he and Eleanor lived with his mother, sister, brother and brother's family. He had bought the house for his family back in the 1920s, and he and Eleanor moved in during World War II. His mother Myra died in 1955. Then, when he got the money from Paramount for The Buster Keaton Story, they sold the Victoria Ave. home (and finally kicked his 50 year old brother out on his own for the first time!). He stayed close to his sister. The Sylvan St. house had two bedrooms. I read that one was for his sister when she visited; she kept her porcelain dolls on the bed. EDIT: Oh wait, you're moving?!! So there's one vlog that won't happen...

Same is happening here in Florida. Losing lots of historic buildings/homes to developers. I'm in the process of purchasing an old, historic home myself to restore. Sadly, most of these end up gutted or demolished. I'm also creating a TV show on saving history through architecture.

I dont understand why people always want to knock down or destroy historical locations. It is so sad that some people dont care about wiping away history. But when you visit other countries they preserve and restore historical sites for future generations to appreciate and cherish. I guess it is all about making money , which is sad..

Another great vlog! Even though the house was no longer there you did an amazing job telling the story of Buster Keaton, and showing pictures of what the house did look like when he lived there. So somehow my Bell accidentally got turned off and your posts were not showing up in my “ favorites” I begin to wonder why I wasn’t seeing posts from you. So I went to your page didn’t realize I was like 10 vlogs behind! I quickly turned the bell back on, to what it was before. Somehow it had accidentally got turned off. I spent this last week catching up on all of your wonderful vlogs. Your new house looks absolutely amazing! You’re doing an incredible job of decorating! I can tell that you’re going to be so happy in your new house!
