I mean, there's a reason for that. Firearms replaced bows. No reason to continue innovating for an obsolete ranged weapon. There is also a lot of challenge manufacturing this at scale for soldiers back in the day when bows were used too. I'm sure they could do it back then, but I doubt at scale for an army. Its still cool what he's doing don't get me wrong, just saying I can see why nobody thought of this until now.

Hey Joerg, I love the channel but especially the instant legolas. I’ve been designing my own version because I’m too impatient to wait for the commercial version! I have two ideas for integrating the draw assist with a compound bow and you don’t need to add extra limbs or anything. You need a much longer string, instead of the string terminating on the opposite limb, it is carried through pulleys and terminates on the carriage mechanism. I have drawings that demonstrate two possible ways to achieve the necessary reduction for the draw assist effect. I’m not sure how to share my drawings with you but i’m sure we figure it out. Keep pumping out the instant legolas videos! The only thing worse than no more slingshots is an incomplete instant legolas.

As a long time subscriber to your channel, I have to say that the more you tinker with your ideas the more fascinating your videos become. The instant legolas videos being just simply amazing. I will never grow tired of them and would love to see more of it, especially moving towards more practical applications. I would love to see a double compound bow, where the second one is tuned in such a way as to compensate the firsts power curve, if at all feasible. But if you wanna go back to some more traditional videos, like the leg powered superslingshot from the old days, I will continue to watch as well. Love it all. But wow, what an evolution. Really love your instant legolas videos. At this stage, with the rubber compensation you could probably also make a small super powerful pump action crossbow. That would just be amazing! Anywho, great content, continue like that!

@MrTejlgaard4 жыл бұрын
Hey Jorg. I've been developing a similar design for this thing you've come up with for the past 3 years. You're so close to the final part of what I consider to be the natural endpoint: You need a system that lets you use both arms to 'load' the bow in both directions. This requires something similar to a hook on your right shoulder. The exact mechanics are difficult, but the idea is, you want to use as much of your upper body strength as possible. Consider a person who can benchpress 50 kgs. Such a person should be able to shoot a 100kg draweight bow, using the full range of motion necessary to press the barbell, which is a hell of a lot of energy for a person who isn't all that strong. Obviously, the exact body mechanics are very hard to work out. I was so happy when I saw you figure out how to do the investment-pullback, but as far as I can tell, you're still only at (at most) 40% power. The best engineering solution to do what I'm suggesting is reversing the bowlimb direction, using low-movement bowlimbs, mounting them horizontally, and putting most of the gearing into the central arrow guide. You also don't want the magazine sliding back and forth, and you want copper arrows with a steel tip, probably aluminium fins. I think you want to use spring steel for the limbs, you want a wire for the string, ball bearings for the pulleys. The trigger needs to be positioned on the slide, which needs two grips. Best way to optimize the load is to have the bow cocked half way on forward, halfway on back, so you waste no energy (this makes the arrow travel quite long). You can use a stripper clip for loading. Only thing I haven't worked out is an assymmetric harness at the right shoulder for righties, and reverse for lefties.

Cool vid! I only have one question, how do you think the Instant Legolas impacts the Archers paradox, and therefore maybe even accuracy(on medieval bows/ bow with no window). Since the arrow is not able (or not fully able) to bend back around the bow to retain a staight course.
@Slingshotchannel4 жыл бұрын
The archers paradox is much reduced, first of all because the arrows are much shorter = stiffer, and also because they are guided through the rails. This certainly adds accuracy.
@patropro4 жыл бұрын
@@Slingshotchannel Thx, but doesn't that mean that the arrows are flying af a little bit to the side? You can of course compensate for this with the sight. Just wondering.
@Slingshotchannel4 жыл бұрын
@@patropro They fly totally straight from the mag box. If you aim along the slot for the string, this is 100% where the arrow will go. The bow stave is a bit offset of course, much like on a crossbow. But that is irrelevant. The mag box works like the barrel of the gun, so that is your reference.

I'm gonna be real, even if you only posted videos of you eating apples, I'd watch every one and cry with joy. Your a symbol of purity and human potential, never stop what your doing. I may like your other projects, but I'm absolutely in love with how you continuously advance your instant legolas. Never stop, man. Ever.

When are you coming out with a "belt-fed" version? 🙂

Yeah an instant legolas gatling like contraption would be epic. Imagine the nest of two guys on a castle wall. One aiming and cranking and the other holding the belt...

Jörg, you are awesome! The designs you come up with are Truly marvelous by their simplicity and effectiveness, when nobody, for century's long, ever though about it... And I believe everybody still absolutely adores seing new Instant Legolas video's being put out on your channel😊 That being said, if i wanna be 100% honest, I start missing the crazy stuff you use to invent video after video...like your 1000 joule airgun...the Airzooka....I mis it❣️

CAN YOU MAKE A CROSSBOW FROM THE E.K. COMPOUND WHIT YOUR ADDER? YOU SOUD TURN THE BOW HORIZONTAL, THE ARROWS SOUD GET IN THE MAGAZIN FROM UNDERSIDE. UPON SIDE YOU SOUD MOUNT A SCOPE ON IT! IT WILL BE A BRAVUR WHEN YOU MAKE A CROSSBOW WHIT THAT ADDER AND DRAWHELP!!! PLSPLSPLSPLSPLS;-)

Do it! I mean your novel "madness" contraptions are great, but the Instant Legolas is such a great concept that I think you should continue tinkering and refining it.

Thank you Joerg! Love your channel, and it's made my dnd and shadowrun groups so much more interesting. Wish my back still worked and I could use one of these, but as soon as I can I am going to buy one for a friend that does archery.

I vote that you do whatever makes you want to keep inventing. If it's a tie, keep going with Instant Legolas. This has been amazing so far.
