Churchill went bankrupt twice in his political career - after the stock crash in 1929 and again in 1937. He was bailed out by Bernard Baruch the 1st time and by South African gold-mining tycoon Henry Straikosch in 1937.

Every human on this planet has skeletons in their closet. All I can say is that I'm glad Churchill was in power, and I am thankful for all he did for the UK
@theosmith39174 жыл бұрын
@@StaxRail There's skeletons in the closet and then there's thousands upon thousands of deaths (using unspeakably torturous methods the kind history books would have you believe only Nazi Germany could create) because you believe your race to be superior to others. Churchill falls within the latter. If he had had his way, the war would have been extended and would have harnessed nuclear weapons. Research Operation Unthinkable to learn more about this. Moreover, Churchill's main fear of Nazi Germany was that it would become the new Global super power. Not the atrocious crimes committed against Jews or the brutality of what a countries occupation entails (e.g. Poland). In fact, both Hitler and Churchill practised similarly awful tactics in order to gain territory for Nazi Germany and the British Empire respectively. All because he was in power. There could have been hundreds of different politicians that could have won us the war, don't feel patriotic towards that scumbag of a man.
@StaxRail4 жыл бұрын
@@theosmith3917 so you would rather have a dictator in charge of all of Europe, who would have completely eradicated BAME races? I get that Churchill was responsible for several atrocities, but at the same time the good he did for the world far outweighs the negatives. Oh, and by the way, I never said the white race was superior, so please don't put words into my mouth
@theosmith39174 жыл бұрын
@@StaxRail I didn't say you thought that the white race was superior, i was using 'you' as a general 'you' rather than being specific to Churchill. Also I think I made it clear that obviously Hitler was a terrible terrible person, the point I was making was that Churchill and Hitler held many similarities in the way of thinking as well as running concentration camps and taking over countries. He may have won us a war but he was never held accountable for his atrocities in his lifetime, and I think its important for people to acknowledge his awful actions so that we don't raise our children worshipping a man whose job was circumstantial and replaceable. The second World War was an ugly time for humanity. German and British, instead of making our victory such a big part of British patriotism I think its something we should move forward from. People love to forget what Churchill did and brush it under the rug - and while Hitler did kill more and as you said a dictator, it doesn't cheapen the countless lives lost due to Churchill.
@StaxRail4 жыл бұрын
@@theosmith3917 of course he wasn't Heald accountable- everyone at the time had very similar views. If we judge history with modern values, history ceases to exist
