I play casual on console and I agree. Enjoyed the challenge of tag1. Tag2 needed more variety and more challenge. Id was probably under a lot of pressure to get it done, hence the cut corners. Covid didn't help.

So, I actually quite like that final wave of nothing but imps. It's a funny setpiece and I like the change from from having to think about your approach to just Full Autoing and Flame Belching them all. It's a change of pace, and it kinda feels like OG Doom. As a one-time set piece, I think it works. The problem is that the next arena around the fountain is, again, nothing but fucking imps with like 2 whiplashes at the end. That is NOT enough. Why not add a Pain Elemental or two? Why not a Tyrant? That next arena definitely needed more heavies. It just feels unfinished.

Even for a casual player like me the TAG 2 arenas are a step down. I liked the encounters in TAG1 especially the holt slayer gate. Some encounters in TAG2 are a bit meh like you mentioned the imps in world spear.

DLC1 and DLC2 are almost the last two Avengers films to a tee. Infinity War was heartfelt and brutal and nobody would be upset if that was the last Marvel movie ever made. Endgame's purpose was to tie up the loose ends and defeat the big bad for good, whilst ignoring all the set up for him that came before. Do I hate it? No. Would I have wanted better? I think we all would.

Maybe it would been fun if the Dark Lord has been something between a possessed Marauder and an Arch Vile. He should be able to spawn all kinds of demons, buff them. Using the hammer to be the only way to open him for some damage, but the stun should have been much shorter than other enemies and no easy way to get hammer charges - no hammer pickups and no enemies that drop hammer charges.

Not only that but the lore aspect makes zero sense. By TAG1 the implication was that this was Hell's version of Doomguy, which is sick. Then TAG2 implies Doomguy was just a "clone" created to signify Davoth's rage...which kinda ruined the whole character of Doomguy. Then Hugo says Davoth's influence only ran as far back as the Divinity Machine...so we still have no damn clue why Doomguy and Davoth look alike and the 2 reasons we got were cannonically "retconned"

I hope to see boatloads of Stone imps and Riot soldiers. i don't know if they'll do anything to the Dark Lord's fight though. The first time you get the hammer, and you are gone through the elevator to fight in the area, it is the moment to have all those hammer pickups not in mission2, something went really wrong and with bad thinking. Albo the mission 3 feels like it was really badly done, especially the last arena fight with stone imps and all those shotgun ammo pickups. And the Dark Lord fight was annoying and boring. I though it will be the final test of all our skills but sadly it was like advanced Maruder tutorial, where one mistake leads to fighting longer. Also all new enemies have really bad aim, shield gunners don't shoot at you in correct way like other demons, and also the armored baron almost never hit you with his ball if you are just moving around, not even dashing. All those encounters should be at the end of each level, not in a middle of it, because the second phase is the hardest fight you will enocunter in each level, so if you gone through second phase, then you gonna get through the rest of the mission without a sweat. The hammer is overall badly balanced, 8 seconds of stun is too long, 4 seconds is enough if you know how to plan what next to do. Also it's too easy to charge it, instead of 2 weak points it should need 4 weak points destroyed. I already have installed mod for that on PC and it works perfectly fine, the only problem is that it gives too mutch armor and health. So yeah anyway not upgraded hammer is balanced, except for only needed 2 weak points destroyed. Hugo Martin said that he learned from changing TAG1 that once you done something don't change it, so they gonna left TAG2 with those bad design choices :/ ? Dark Lord shoudl have only 3 phases with armor, then he loses armor due to hammer crushing it into pieces. Then Dark Lord uses his powers to fly around attack you with some laser beams from the sky that are moving decently slow but you need to be carefull where you step. Spawn 3 combos of enemies, only melee demons, fast demons and tough demons. You can shoot Dark Lord at any time you want but he have shield that is protecting him so you are doing like 1/10 the damage to him. And also in the middle of arena map there are spawning all 3 powerups every 30 seconds so you should pick up not all at once but one for each demon spawn, for example berserk for melee demons to have easier fight. Quad damage should be for super heavy demons but also for Dark Lord because only then you deal a bit of damage to him. Also would be really cool after all 5 health bars, the slayer throw away his super shotgun as meaning to all weapons, and take out Demonic Crucible, and you have infinite power in that crucible so you are slicing all the demons on your way, and at the end you get to slice Dark Lord, 3 times and that's the ending, the Dark Lord himself is killed with demonic crucible. And that would be a lot better fight than just all 5 stages are just a super maruder.

I personally prefer TAG 2 over TAG 1, the arenas are much more fun and are way better both in looks and design, that being said, i prefer the difficulty of TAG 1, i wasnt a big fan of the drop in difficulty for TAG 2, but nothing a randomizer cant fix, as for the imp part, i genuinely enjoy that arena because its extremely satisfying setting them on fire and them blowing them up, so much armor that my game slows down to a halt, feels like winning on a slot machine
