12:00 This scene kills me every time. One of my favorite scenes in the game. Bella is doing amazing. As skeptical as I was about the cast, she absolutely nailed it. She plays my favorite character in computer games great. Every time she cries, it brings tears to my eyes!

Ellie was estimating the journey before they approached Kansas City as 25 hours, based on them having a truck and looking at the map. She probably wasn't counting time to sleep or time to stop and siphon fuel. (She is very new to travel cross country) lose the truck, it becomes a lot longer. My phone map app puts the journey from Kansas City to Cheyenne Wyoming at 8 days and 18 hours on foot. (It does not account for sleeping, hunting, weather, etc)

In the modern world (which the app is based on) assuming you have money, you don't have to spend time finding food, you don't have to spend time avoiding monsters, and you're not relying on a piece of paper printed 20+ years ago to find your own path. A single bridge collapse 15 years ago could add a couple hundred miles to the trip alone. Honestly, I'm impressed Joel taught her so quickly how to read a map. Do you know how hard it is to get most teens to understand how to read a map? Of course, she doesn't have the familiarity with GPS that has become a crutch to so many people anymore.

And is this assuming theyre traveling 60mph the whole way? Because surely the roads would be WRECKED after 2 decades especially in those northern Midwest states. The number of holes, cracks and obstacles I wouldnt be surprised if much of the drive would be crawling along at 5-10 mph

I watched a psychological analysis of this series. The author explained that Joel has a difficult task: besides the fact that he needs to protect Ellie physically, he must also protect her psyche and her soul (scenes where he does not call her to take a gun and apologizes that she had to shoot). And Ellie must learn, in addition to shooting and survival skills, also to love Joel as a daughter... she can't do it yet.

@Lia Fiore Saw some of your old reaction which has glitches. I think the issue was the wrong or incompatible codec while rendering. Mac is not very good with H264 and I think you must have used that, while rendering and hence the glitches. Or it could be incompatible file format of the screen-recording imported into editing software. Anyways a good rule of thumb could be to use default codecs OR Make sure your render settings match what KZbin asks for, you can find their preferences on KZbin studio. If you don’t know how to adjust your codec settings, rendering software just offers a “KZbin” setting you can use that.

On the HBO Max youtube channel they have both a behind the scenes video for each episode and a much longer podcast with the actor who voice Joel in the game, the director, and the game creator. Both a very much worth watching, they have some really great insights. Like the Bill and Frank episode, the quote 'This isn't the sad suicide at the end of the play" quote has a lot more meaning, and they discuss it in the podcast. Actually the director of the series has had a podcast from before this show where he talks about movies and filming and other stuff.
