The Last Of Us 2 contains one of the most contrived, poorly written game stories of the generation that betrays it's 2 core characters in a variety of ways - 10/10???

Joel in The Last Of Us II really reminds me of the situation of Luke in The Last Jedi. It’s not the same character we remember and love and they’re both pointlessly killed, therefore leaving many fans with no real want or need to continue the story/series. But you know... gotta subvert them expectations while gaining woke points.

This is a perfect example of politics over storytelling. Anita Sarkeesiam was one of the consultants and the product shows. It’s Game Of Thrones season 8 all over again. The only ones loving the game is the Paid Shill Media. It’s bad enough that SPOILER Joel dies, it’s even worse that they force us to play as his killer, while trying to make us care for her. I really feel bad for TLOU fans, because it definitely feels like a slap in the face to everyone who supported and liked the first one. The storytelling is so bad and the characters act nothing like they’re supposed to or used to, prime example is the way Joel gets caught.

This is going to cost Sony PlayStation 5 sales No Doubt. People are not going to willing to spend money on a console that promotes games like this. I've been of Sony fan for a long time since the beginning. I have no interest in the PlayStation 5 at this time.. games like this destroy any faith I have in Sony. This game has damaged Sony's reputation and it's really hard to fix that. I recently got back into Nintendo a year ago. Nintendo is looking better everyday.

Last of Us 2 is destined to be a 5below game or big lots (depending on your costs) When I find it there, I may get it same as I've gotten trashy movies. Sometimes you just want to watch the dumpster burn. But you don't want to pay to much for it.

I dont think Joel deserved a heroic death no one in this apocalyptic world does. The problem is they make the characters from the first game idiots in order to prop up new characters and to further the plot. Joel has shown consistently that he doesnt trust strangers. From the beginning of the first game when he makes Tommy leave that family on the side of the road to years into the apocalypse where he barely even trusts or wants to deal with a young Ellie when they first meet. He meets Abby patrolling and they not only give up their names and locations but they also offer for them to come back to town and take valuable supplies. It was like brand new characters that were completely unaware of the events of the first game. How did Joel get less paranoid if he killed Marlene cause he knew theyd be searching for him? Just lazy writing. Abby then decides to leave Tommy and Ellie alive strictly for plot purposes despite them knowing Tommy is Joel’s brother who was a very capable former firefly. Then Abby acts shocked that these people tracked them back and killed all of her friends in 3 DAYS. Ellie circles her routes and locations on a Seattle map like shes a pre schooler then she leaves the map at an enemy hideout for Abby to find and use to track her down and eventually cripple Tommy. The characters in this game act like complete idiots.

My opinion is valid because i'm a critic of stories, and TLOU2 is a STORY driven game - and in general my opinion is sought after due to my track record of being correct with whatever i'm discussing.

The story does not tell a good revenge story. Ellie cuts down Abby and loses everything including 2 fingeres and is allowed to leave with Lev leaving her with nothing. The thing is this isn't what happens when people seek revenge in real life and I'm using the words "real life" because that's what people base this game off. It is extremely rare that anyone who seeks revenge would stop on their own. Especially in the context of this story where the only justice you get is an eye for an eye which isn't the case here if this is this the first time you've experienced the "cycle of revenge" story then you need to expand your horizons. Even in video games I would say that God Of War 3 of handled the morality of what Ellie is doing in the TLOU2 pretty well. That game understood why Kratos's killing spree was a factor into the story. In TLOU2 Ellie and Abby kill hundreds of people yet we are supposed to believe that when it comes time to kill a named character they all of a sudden develop a conscience. There is a pretentious term for this "ludo narrative dissonance". It's hard to reconcile the gameplay of killing countless of people without batting an eye, and with the cut scenes having characters being bothered by killing one person. There is a cheap and immature way the game tries to get you to care about the side characters getting killed. Making women pregnant or men have love interest isn't deep writing, it's shallow at best. You should care about the characters death because you got to know them as a person not "a pregnant girl died" or "his girlfriend will never see him again"

BottledCitrus Joel died pathetically shows how harsh reality can be. It also fuels Ellie’s desire for revenge. The way she treated Joel like shit in the tail end of their relationship and how he goes out makes it more traumatising for Ellie because not only she is saddened by his death but she is tortured by guilt and regret. I think the problem is, fans are too hung up on Joel. He means so much that anything less than an honourable death for him is too much for them to bare. That’s fair enough. But looking at it objectively and not letting my attachments to Joel get the better of me, I thought it was well done. Well, good enough to move the story forward.

I’m not a PlayStation fan. In fact I’ve always been a Nintendo fan and always trashed PlayStation. But I have to give PlayStation props for their exclusives especially this gen. Last of us 2 is no exception. At least give the game a try. You may not like the direction the story took but it’s still AAA quality. ND put a lot of love and effort into this game and I respect them for that. Don’t be clouded by emotion and just let this game tell its story just like you accepted the first game. This is every bit a master piece as the first. You do yourself a disservice by denying yourself that experience.

I’m happy with the ending because Joel really does die protecting Ellie. If he didn’t save Ellie from the fireflies then there would be no Abby revenge mission and at the very end of the game Joel says if he had the chance he’d to it all again so even though he didn’t know what Abby would do he would have taken anything to give Ellie a life. Also neil drukeman said people would be mad because they didn’t understand that this was Ellie and Joel’s story and not ours. We probably all wanted Abby dead but it was Ellie’s choice not to do that when she remembered the good side of Joel and even though we all love Joel it was Ellie who lost him. Only problem with the game was playing as Abby. Nothing they showed us could have made me feel sympathy for her or her friends but overall great game.

playing end of last of us 1 will show you why joel was killed.2 sides of story really intelligent of makers if you can take all the killing from both sides.also you all need to play game and be able to stomach it then judge it.i have played alooooot of games this one is one of a kind with every element thrown in.
