After buying this game 3 times from 3 to ps5 I think I’m good. The story won’t change. I don’t really get the point. For anyone that never played it may be the way to go however the remaster is probably good enough.

Take a look at the Indie scene for that...all AAA Studios are too afraid to take risks now, with game development being how expensive it is. They'd much rather pour money onto a established franchise, than loose profits for an imaginative new IP that might not perform as well with sales. They also wait to see good indie games that take off and buy the studio or franchise right off which is a safer play for them. Indie devs are the only ones keeping much of the creative spark alive. Sad state of affairs.

The thing is, I was happy to buy TLOU Remastered because it was cheaper than a full new release and i was happy to pay full price for RE2 Remake because it brought a whole new game to the table.. This at minimum needed the updated gameplay mechanics from part 2 and maybe some slight changes to the areas to utilise the mechanics and bring more to the experience. Otherwise it falls somewhere in the middle, but you are basically talking about the same game with a new coat of paint. It just feels like now i have seen the footage of the game on here, i cant fully justify buying it because i can have the exact same core gameplay experience with the ps4 remastered version.

I’ll always be bothered by the lack of dodge and prone. I understand the map wasn’t built for those mechanics, but with the added foliage prone coulda definitely made stealth more interesting. Hiding in short grass was immersive in part 2 so why not include that. Also since the game is remade why not slightly alter maps so that you could prone under objects, like slightly raising cars. The dodge mechanic would’ve been the easiest mechanic to introduce, it could’ve been a quick step while Joel leans away from the hit and not as in depth like part 2. The game looks beautiful, but it’s better to just watch clips on KZbin to see the difference instead of playing it at this point.

Al lot of people bitching about the price, I'm in Canada, here it cost $94.49. I know because I just got it... Yeah, it's expensive but I haven't played the game in years and I loved the demons souls remake. So, fuck it. Wish it was cheaper but I don't really mind supporting for a studio I like. Im a fan of LOU since its debut on the ps3. I have the remaster as well digital versions for ps3 & ps4. This ‘remake’ has been very controversial since it was announced and now that it’s here, it seems opinion hasn’t really changed. The overriding question has always been - who is this game really aimed at? Virtually everyone who has owned a PS3 onwards will have already played the original or PS4 remaster, or both. The PS4 remaster is still pretty impressive and by no means needed an update. The fact that you can download it for free if you have PS Plus to be totally nullifies this release. If you don’t have PS Plus, you can pick up the PS4 remaster for £10-£15 preowned. Sony charging $70 is completely laughable. For a game that is essentially graphical updates. Naughty Dog, Sony and some official PlayStation media outlets are really trying to push this game, but it makes me happy to see the majority of people not buying in to this rip off. Sure, the game looks beautiful and if you’ve never played it before, this will undoubtedly be the best way to experience it, but you’ll find an extremely small percentage of PS owners who have yet to play this game. For the rest of us, paying $70 for the exact same game for a third time is nonsense. There is just not enough here to justify a purchase at a AAA price point.

Pretty sure GTA online was a free upgrade and as far as I remember, both only had a small up charge to upgrade if you owned a previous version. They certainly didn’t charge $70 for it, as if it was a brand new AAA title.

I've never played the game until today and here's my honest review: Pros: - Gorgeous game - In depth character development Cons: - Moves on very, very tight rails - AI might have been "updated" but it's still absolutely stupid. - Game doesn't like it when you kill soldiers with M4s so makes the M4s disappear - As immersive as it may feel on one end due to amazing writing, that immersion is completely shattered by the rails the game moves on; the guns disappearing; doors remaining open behind you while you try to evade Fedra etc... Those details really fuck the experience up. Despite what most people may think, I honestly find the show better than the game. Sorry folks, this game could've been so much better if the devs had paid attention to details.

Sony is charging more for this remake than they did when the game came out as an original game back in 2013 and this remake is more than the price Last of Us part 2 was sold for! Both of those being original with way more work being done to them. I’d rather pay full price for a brand new game/story like God of War Ragnarok. I won’t argue the masterpiece that last of us is but the asking price for this remake makes it only a recommendation for first time players or those that will come after the HBO series which is great for them but this could’ve been an EASY recommendation to EVERYONE if the asking price from Sony/Naughty Dog was $40, maybe $50. This remake looks awesome but improved graphics and mainly quality of life improvements don’t justify a full new game price of $70.

Naughty Dog was having some big ass talk about Ai but what I am considered with is will the enemy actually apprehend/kill Ellie or will they just treat her like she doesn't exist and just come after you instead? It seems this games is trying to be taken seriously and if they can't get this one thing right then this Remake is a joke! Not a Remake or a Remaster if they dont pull this off. I’ve played the original, remastered and now I’ve played the Remake. I love the Remake! It look great and plays great on performance mode on my LG C1 📺. The best part I really love is that once you have beat the game. You can unlock unlimited ammo, melee weapons and more! I’m trying to hurry up and beat it now. Great review, Gaming Bolt.

It could've been better if they created a new engine specifically for the ps5. This doesn't look like a game built from the ground primarily for the ps5, it looks like a ps4 game remastered for the ps5. There's a huge difference

Going prone would have broken the game because the level design wasn't built with it in mind. Saying it wouldn't is a facetious. Have you played The Twin Snake for the GameCube. If not, then go play the original on PS1 and then play the GC version and tell me if it's not broken.

Yeah that's where I'm seeing why Naughty Dog didn't include that new gameplay mechanic from Part 2. Even then the levels weren't designed for that which is why in TLOU2, the levels were bigger which allowed space for you to dive prone and let alone dodge.. but the AI and gameplay gun fights feel like Part 2 which is what they were doing and I expected it for this remake

Should have been a discounted upgrade for existing users and the fact the 2nd game in the sequel sucked so bad you'll never see them 'remaster' it the best they could do is do a spin off from the first one and call it canon

If upgrading ucharted 4 and lost legacy to ps5 version by paying money wasn't bad enough for bare minimal visual upgrades. Last of us remake is a day light robbery. just wait till ps6. They will once again remake this game by adding ray tracing and variable 8k resolution. Sure we are not forced to buy it. But even an attempt at robbery is a bad sign for what may follow in future.

I'm okay with remakes. there are some games I would love to play again on a modern console (sly Cooper). But this ain't it, at least not for $70. $30 would've been a good price

Your right the price point is way to high for a copy and paste remake at least resi 4 seems to have the right idea, something familiar with enough changes to call it a remake.
