The Last of Us Part 1 Remake vs Original - 10 Biggest Differences You Need To Know About

A lot's been said about The Last of Us Part 1 and whether or not it's different enough from the original The Last of Us to justify its existence, much less its price. Of course, we can't really answer that question until we've actually played the game, but though there's disappointment out there over some of the heavily requested features the game isn't going to have, the developer has confirmed that it will have plenty of changes and improvements beyond that.
As we count the days down to the launch of The Last of Us Part 1, here, we're going to talk about some of those changes.

No. 1: The price.

For a remake of a ps3 game which uses an engine of an already existing game, $70 is a little steep. However, playing through the ps3 version 3 times and the remastered version 3 times, I would gladly pay $70 to play through this upgrade 3 times again. This game for me achieved the rank of one of my all time favorites and for that reason I’m already on board.

I think it is mainly because they are removing the multiplayer, mainly just doing graphical tweaks, there was already a remaster, and it is $10 more than the original game launched short of a decade ago all combined. If Sony did more with this remake and didn't axe Factions, I think less people would be pissed about the asking price.

As a disabled one-handed gamer I'm most excited about the accessibility features. If I could auto aim or aim assist or whatever you call it it would make it easier for me to play. While I can still play The last of Us there are sections like Bill's trap where I cannot get past that without help because my left arm doesn't work. So for that reason alone the $70 price tag is worth it for me. To be able to play something completely on my own independent and beat it I won't feel like I accomplished something. How things affect the disabled people is something most people don't consider it's simply I don't need to use this so it doesn't matter to me. But have somebody who does need the accessibility controls I am happy about that

The AI will barely be noticeable. I doubt anyone would really notice anything if they didn't say anything. they'll flank you a bit more. OK? And the buddy AI is a nice tweak but since the game already operated with NPCs not noticing them for the most part it's not such a big deal that now they act less stupid when the enemy didn't do anything when they ran in front of them before. Let's be real. The main draw for this game is the graphical upgrade. Accessibility is nice but how many players do you think are really going to buy this game who couldn't play it before? Permadeath and workbench animations? Who cares? Model viewer? I guess that's nice but it's not a selling point.

It all comes down to price. If it was $50 people wouldn't be complaining. They didn't show anything that justifies the $70 tag, specially when you consider the original is playable on current-gen consoles, and the visual upgrade makes it look like the PS4 Part II, a last gen game. Yes and no.. I've played both games alot and watched all the gameplay out there and all I can say is this: Joel's movement is the exact same from Part 1 with the exception of smoother transition into crouch. In the remastered when you crouch while jogging, Joel goes down really fast and it felt annoying at times. Same with transitioning into sprint mode looks much smoother. But the animations themselves are the same from remastered. Ellie on the other hand, from what I've seen has similar movement animations to Part ll Ellie. You can see in the "remake" gameplay reveal that she can throw a bottle/brick while running. Which is something you can't do in part l with either Ellie or Joel will stop, throw and then you can move again.. so I'm guessing it would be a mix of both.. Also there is no Dodge and Prone so Melee combat will be the same

I loved the original so goddamn much! Probably one of my top 5 of all time. That being said, after playing part 2, the fighting mechanics of the original seem outdated, although I prefer the story of the original. I assumed the ‘remake’ would have been exactly that, but it’s not; the game has had a facelift, without any enhancements regarding fighting mechanics, etc., so essentially it’s a remastered. Definitely won’t be paying £70.00 when I already have the remastered version for the PS4.

I love the accessibility options added, but it seems really dirty of the company to add all of those to an old game and then charge people 70$ that need those accessibility options to actually play it. Sure, it looks a little crisper on the new console, but the remaster still looks amazing and most of the time I can't tell the difference between the PS4 or PS5 footage, and occasionally find the PS4 footage to actually look a little better.

Honestly, they had my money with audio described cutscenes and gameplay. Pretty sure that is the absolute first of its kind, and the only accessibility area in the 2nd which was lacking ... and that's saying a lot, because there were some amazing accessibility features in the second one. I had little interest in getting this, but now knowing it's receiveing the same accessibility treatment as the 2nd - and then some, I'm seriously reconsidering. As a visually impaired gamer who's been playing since the 80s, this is an extremely big deal. Now I just need a PS5 to play it on.

In the gameplay department the new ps5 game will have less options/features than their older ps4 game. There is no reason they couldnt bring in the AI, Prone/Dodge and accessibility if its a 70$ PS5 exclusive (not ps4) title. since no one is pointing this out, I'll say it, the changes in the work bench aren't better, it's just how it looks, the original had a better work bench than part 2, part 2. was simpler, treating us players like idiots that don't know what upgrades are for, the original game had more deep levels of weapon upgrades, part 2 only had a single layer, simple weapon upgrade, so when you tell me that the original weapon upgrades are gone and that part 2s are in, that deters me more, it looks better, works simpler, it's worse.

Yeah I completely agree. When they showed off the workbench I was actually disappointed because it seemed a lot more like part 2’s shallow upgrade system rather than part 1’s better path. Plus it added to its replay ability because you couldn’t upgrade everything in one go.

I think ND should make a third TLOU ..to show that they really are still a top games company and not just a money grabbing one who has to do re- runs to make money As a TLOU and TLOU2 fanatic this makes me sad to say what i have just said ..

They need money from us because of Part 2.... More then half of theyre fans wont buy new game from them so they are trying to get some money from something that they know that was good. And its so sad that they trying to act like we are not able to see it.... They just pretend that they want to help us with this accessibility option but if they wanted to really help us they should just give it to us and not sell it (last of us is completly finished game and almost 10 years old and they want for few months work 70€? :D :D) Theyre think that we are idiots and its offends me

@@dip43ck57 this game was what made me get a ps3 as im an avid pc gamer ..the first console i got was indeed the ps3 for the exact purpose for playing TLOU 😉 even thou you can get this version for pc ..i dont think buying a more graphicly made clone of my original ps3 game cuts tje mustard really ..like i said in my initial post they chose a lazy way of fleecing fans .. Ive yet to play TLOU2 so i cant wait for that .😉

I hate how some of the fanboys try to jusitfy the remake not adding elements from the 2nd game by saying "they would have to change the entire design" despite the damn thing being worked on for 2 years and my personal favorite "there's no dodge and prone cause joel is too old" that annoys me because they're acting like Joel is a senior citizen and not a mid 40 year old that can take down an army of guys half his junior and outrun a hoard of infected effortlessly. But abby's out of place physique? We should accept that blindly cause it's a game despite their hard on for realism. Speaking of part 2, it's interesting there's people looking back at the 2nd game and started appreciating the combat after the leaks broke out showing ND lied about having new gameplay features.

I'm not a pervert. I have a hunger for detail, call it an idiomatic thought process . My first game, Resident Evil, I died often.I kept stopping to examine a painting or a book and got gobbled up by zombies. In The Last of Us 1 and 2, I would study the the things inside the apartments and know they came from Wayfair or a similar store. They were exactly the things that someone in an economic level to live in that apartment would buy. I have great respect for these artist. One time I was using the scope on my rifle to examine the fungle growth on a naked clicker and discovered a crotch full of pubic hair. Ewww but also brilliant.
