I know I'm kinda late in commenting, but yeah the song at the end of the episode was "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode.... definitely one of my faves!! And yes if you guys haven't seen "Chernobyl" it's absolutely a MUST SEE!!! A long with Band of Brothers 😎🤓👍👍

The green explosions at the beginning are from transformers exploding. They have copper in them, thus the green colour.

It was going to be two episodes but they originally had the first episode ending after the kid in Boston dies. HBO said they don't want episode one to end with two kids dying and they combined the episodes. That's at least what I've heard from a few places.

It is two episodes joined together, the first episode originally ended with the kid being dropped into the flames but it was felt that it didn’t introduce what the show was really about.

Fun fact, Joe's daughter from this episode is British, she's Thandie Newton's Daughter, also as I'm sure you know, Ellie is a British actress as well. This series was fantastic from start to finish. 👏🏻

Originally the season was to be 10 episodes and the first episode was to end with Joel throwing the little boys' body into the fire but someone at HBO sent a note to Mazin and Druckman that they should combine the first two episodes into one. The reasoning was that the death of the boy coming right after Sarah's death was too dark to leave an audience who had no connection to the game to want to keep watching next week. Also they thought that Ellie had to be introduced to the audience jn the first episode in order to keep the audience interest for the next episode. Both Mazin and Druckman thought these were good points and agreed to combine the ewo into one episode. Gabriel Luna who plays Tommy in the show is an Austin native born and bred and actually as a teenager spent a few hours in the Travis County Jail on 10th that his character Tommy is in and has to be bailed out by Joel. Both he and Pedro Pascal come by their Texas accents naturally, Gabriel because he was born and raised there and Pedro because when his family fled Argentina, they first came to Orange County, California and then settled in San Antonio, Texas.

Pedro is chilean though. He fled from Chile to Venezuela and then Denmark before arriving to the US permanently

The DVD was Curtis and Viper 2 which is an easter egg from TLOU Part 2. And yes, that's Nico Parker, Thandiwe Newton's daughter. And without giving spoilers, Jeffrey Pierce (Tommy from the game), Troy Baker (Joel) and Ashley Johnson (Ellie) all have cameo roles in the series.

Your timing in starting to release these reactions is so perfect for me! I got lucky here. I just caught up on the series the day before yesterday, and I wasn't watching any reactions to it until I saw it myself. So almost right when I can start to watch TLoU reactions, you release this. Awesome! NO SPOILERS: I played the game a long time ago, so I only remember the major plot points, but it was funny for me to watch the first episode(s) of this show that you covered here. I didn't expect to see part of Sarah's day before the outbreak started (making breakfast, fixing the watch, visiting the neighbors, etc.) so getting more of her than in the game was a nice surprise. But then I expected a lot more material in the hunt for Robert, so that part seemed really rushed to me at first watch. It wasn't until a bit later that I thought about it and realized that the reason I expected so much more was because the hunt for Robert was the "tutorial" section of the game, where you learned the controls got into some fights, learned how to deal with obstacles and all of that. Once I remembered that, I sort of mentally deleted all the tutorial stuff and thought about what would be left. It went from feeling like the second half of the episode (or the second episode? I think you're right about it being two episodes squished into one) was rushed to feeling just right instead. Looking forward to sharing your journey through the rest of the show. I personally am of the mindset that even comments like "Oh you'll love episode 14" or "Have tissues ready for episode 12" are minor spoilers and can influence reactors by giving them hints of what's coming, so I won't even predict whether you'll love what's coming or hate it, but either way, I'm here for it!

Thank you! And we are SO excited. Editing episodes 2 and 3 now for a weekend release. We are through the first 7 episodes and I'm going to try my best to get the rest out as quickly as I can. Des and I are going to watch episodes 8 and 9 next week.

I think part 2 will be separated into two seasons which is a good choice imo. I hope they fill in the gaps of the 4 year jump from 1 and 2. I wanted to see more of Jackson! Imagine if they end s2 on that one big moment.. Worst cliffhanger ever lol
