Ellie is 14 in the show. This show has really taken a lot of care with all the characters. The actor playing the little boy is actually deaf and most of the cast very quickly learned ASL to be able to communicate with him and his family on the set

Absolutely devastating episode. The conclusion had me speechless and sobbing while staring at the wall for a while. Ellie's beautifully compassionate and naive attempt to make him feel better and hope against all hope... and then BAM. I couldn't even get through you watching the episode without bawling.

Great reaction dude. We can see how shocked and emotional you were. Even as attached to the game characters as I am, I now love the show versions too. The writing and overall standard is superb and I think they’re doing one of the best video games ever made proud. I just want the episodes to be longer and not miss stuff out because we’re progressing too fast and I don’t want it to be over! Enjoy the ice cream 😊

this episode was reeeally heavy, it showed a lot of situations where innocence and hope is lost. the survivors underground, the resistance lost their leader and morals, henry and sam... and ellie, she finally got to be a kid and somewhat happy and then right away was forced to get back to the cold reality. also from what ive seen, apparently the host is still conscious inside after they get infected, they just dont have control over their bodies anymore. it takes a while for the fungi to take over their minds great reaction as always, i cried a lot in the ending scene as well... ellie's 'im sorry' was really heartbreaking, she really thought she couldve saved sam

In the game, Those big guys are called "Bloaters", they are about as old as the outbreak and covered with so much mold plates they are nigh bulletproof. They spread the infection by lobbing spores at people... but they got rid of spores in the show because they didn't want the stars to have to wear gas masks all the time, so they just made the Bloaters like insane things that run at the nearest things to kill it, aged to the point where they aren't like regular infected, but an extremally rare variant.

The big f--er, is called a "Bloater" in the game. It's basically a later stage of being infected, in which the person survived long enough for the infection to spread across the entire body, and even form an extra layer of "armor" around the body, making them hard as hell to kill (reason why the guys shooting at it in the show, couldn't kill him). Bloaters tend to be around 15-20 years. All the Infected we've seen so far have only been infected for a relatively short amount of time (maximum a few years).

@JL So far (keeping this vague so if you play LOU1 and 2 on a Sony system you can see new things, but the scene where she says my blood is medicine and tries to heal Sam so lovingly was different then the game. The ending of Bill and Frank in episode 3 was done differently too. What that monster was @JL we who played it most call it a Bloater it spews spores all the time infecting all around it, they are the first infected the oldest, they take a zillion bullets and are a fuc&ing headache in the game that makes you check your ammo and inventory immediately. I am so glad JL your falling in love with this amazing cast

Here's some spoiler free series v game differences, Sam has the most differences form his in game version, along with the game version not being deaf he is older, 13 rather than 8 and he is not sick with leukemia either. Both Sam and Henry are not from Kansas/Pittsburgh (where this all takes place in the game) and Henry is not a collaborator. In the game the uprising against the military took place a long time before the player gets there, and like Joel and Ellie, Henry and Sam are just passing through and are being hunted down by the people that liver there "the hunters" as they are referred to in the game. As for the big guy, they are called Bloaters an extreme mutation, you first see and fight one of these in Bill's town in the game, in the game they infect people by throwing exploding spore sacks that they pull off of their body at their targets, but they will generally tear your head off at the jaw if they catch you. So in the game they spread the infection by spreading spores but in the series, you bring up an excellent point because they require contact to infect and Bloaters kill you if they get their hands on you. I guess they either never thought about it when adapting it or thought nobody would ask that question. It's a good question, I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it. It's worth mentioning that normal infected tend to rip people apart too if they can't get away. Ellie does briefly ask in there second episode if there are super infected they explode fungus spores on you and Tess laughs it off before she asks about clickers or rather asks about their description, so maybe they are still holding onto the exploding spore sack thing although I don't think that this one threw on spore bombs in this episode. In the game the basic level of infection goes like this Runners (called biters in the series): Normal infected humans, Stalkers: kind of halfway between a runner and a clicker they still have eyes and then the Clickers are next and normally during the stalker or clicker phase they die and grow into the surroundings and (in the game at least release spores) there was one of these dead ones on the stairs in the Museum in episode 2. In some cases a Clicker will continue to live and become a Bloater. Bloaters are much slower in the game also. Finally the sniper in the game is not an old guy with bad aim he as general scumbag with good aim and he talks shite at you the whole time, it also takes place in the daytime. Wow that was a long one sorry, I just love this game and series it's hard to stop once I start. There's more but I should stop lol. Great reaction videos man I love them, and I'm definitely with you, this is a rough one!

Fungus: "So I want you to go out and bite people, _but let them live_ so that they can spread the infection to other people when they turn." Infected: "Instructions unclear. What do I do after I rip off their head?" They're still people, hard to get em to do anything properly

In the game the fungus spreads through spores that grow out of the deceased corpses of the infected. But because it grows in humans brains it has the side-effect that the infected humans go into a rabid panic with only the most basic animalistic mental capacity left untouched, and at the same time a hunger sets in, so they lash out biting anything that moves. The fungus doesn't care what the host does, the fungus doesn't think or have any opinions; all the fungus cares about is that the host eventually finds a damp place to die so that the fungus can grow into a nice spore-producing plant. The zombie aggression that happens in the meantime are just the human response to being the vessel for that. There's a diary entry in the 2nd game at a ruined hospital written by a guy who got infected. It starts with him writing about how it's bullshit that the people locked him in the hospital room without telling him what's happening or why he isn't allowed to leave, and how he just wants to get back to his wife. Next page the handwriting is more erratic, he writes that he's so incredibly angry and fed up and incredibly hungry and how the next person he sees he'll beat the shit outta them, take their keys and gorge himself in the kitchen, cops be damned. Finally, the diary is just big barely readable scribbles "HEAD HURTS"

These last two episodes made me ugly cry. For real. Does anyone else wonder how there is even still canned foods. Twenty years, even expired. People would go for this food stuff first. Its not like there was industries still making canned food. Plus would it not be contaminated. The chef boy r d raviolis for sure would be there is flour in that. Is that why it was left over? How DO they still have batteries? They touched on fuel degrading but would they have refineries making more?!? Its the same questions with most apocalypse shows. I would imagine there was alot of trading and stealing for supplies. Twenty years though, there would be little to nothing left.
@msfeistybabe
@msfeistybabe Жыл бұрын
In every movie/show I've ever seen or survival or apocalypse game I've played, they can never get everything right or go into enough completely accurate detail on how things would be. Some act like food/water, health items & tools/supplies would be abundant year round, even if they act like ammo/weapons would be the only issue. They often indicate weather would be fine for the most part & people would be knowledgeable about how to survive, even though most would be lucky to last even a week, not to mention... years. (long comment below) I think that some things would be gone after a few years from usage or expiration, but some things would last a lot longer... if the apocalypse happened in a way that billions die quickly. There are factories & warehouses/storage that hold tens/hundreds of thousands of items, like canned foods & batteries but of course, it does eventually go bad. People that are left in the first years can get what was mostly taken by the military & groups like Red Cross in the beginning & spread out to their depots or camps. They would go through generators & the fuel, oil & parts needed for them, and other mechanical devices to try to keep things running They would continue to scavenge as they try to keep society going. But some places would still be missed if it was hard to travel far & so huge caches could be found later by groups or raiders, and then hoarded by them... then stolen and hoarded by others if they have the numbers to grab it. If there are "large" groups, maybe less than 100 together in a city, then they would have lots of batteries & canned goods in some places if they were able to get them to begin with... depending on zombies/viruses or whatever was killing or changing mass numbers of people to start with & if it was still doing so. Eventually stuff runs out in your area so you have to go further to search for it... but usually, the group also keeps getting smaller from health issues, attacks, and a lack of knowledge in how to survive. So, people die faster than they are replaced, so you need less all the time. It's the people that are in small groups or solo that would have more issues finding & keeping things, especially if they keep moving because they can't protect a big camp. They have chances to find more hoards of items spread over the states/countries, but can't take much to carry. Even those in a secluded area like hunters/farmers that have animals or hunt & grow food might last awhile that way as long as the creatures/virus or whatever caused the apocalypse isn't nearby. Eventually, they will run out of things as they did in the old days (like 1900s & before) where it might take you weeks or months to get a replacement for something, especially after cars stop working. For those who aren't near cities, it might be safer/better in some ways but harder in others like having to replace items that people in cities have thousands of areas to search for, like canned food in homes/apartments. Bullets & arrows would be a huge issue if you are 2 hours from your nearest city. Those in the cities have to deal with the thousands/millions of zombies/viruses or just the disease from dead bodies etc. Everyone would have different needs & different issues to overcome to even survive every day. Either way, I hope to never see anything like this, as covid causing supply issues was hard enough for most of us, humans who are used to shopping for what we need & lots of technology to cook etc. How many would die because they couldn't google how to boil water??! I hope for all our sakes that we never see anything like covid (or something worse) again... but the reality is eventually something very, very bad will affect us or our descendants... and possibly end mankind.

I've only seen the 1st episode, I'm too poor to afford all those streaming services. But at least these reactions will be "in the can" by the time the shows reach me someday. If you are still taking reaction ideas I'd like to mention "The Day of the Triffids" (1962), "Night of the Living Dead" (1968), and "The Road" (2009) as possibilities. The old "Charlie Brown" cartoon specials of the 1960s and 1970s are all pretty good too for less scary fare. There are so many good things to react to though, many hardly touched yet by other reactors. "Soldier" (1998) is a great Kurt Russell flick and a prequel to the classic "Blade Runner."

Def not on our end. I’ve never removed any of your (or anyone else’s) comments unless they were banned outright. So maybe it’s YT, but I don’t know for sure. Others have said the same at times, but it’s def nothing on our end.

This is The First Episode of The Show where I didn't agree with some of The Changes that they made, to The Original Source.. ESPECIALLY how it ended. And NOT for it being "Similar" to The Source Material.. but BECAUSE (I Personally Felt like) they tried to Keep The Similarities TO The Source Material. I wanted them to Change the Outcome --> FURTHER. But I'll explain what I mean by that later. First - Kathleen. Something is seriously damaged with Kathleen. When on Episode 4, the way she fanatically pursued Henry.. I thought it was some kind of vicious Revenge for a Dead Child; which in my honest opinion should really have been about.. by the way she talked about it on this one. But knowing that it was her Brother, I'm like, "Dafuq?" I swear, The First Time I watched this Episode; where she was talking about how she was different from her Brother (as a Leader). I instantly reacted with a, "Yeah, it's kinda obvious, you're shitting all over his Memory." But I never caught that 'Beautiful' line in there until now, which makes it all just so fucking creepy. Second (thing to Point out), being tied to The Changes from the Original Source.. was Sam. Sam being Mute, kinda takes away the seriousness of Their (Sam and Ellie's) Argument/Conversation in The Show. I didn't much mind that he was mute, but it was hard for him to Express to Ellie the seriousness of what he was going through.. BECAUSE he was Mute. Which brings me to my Last Point. The MAJOR Change from The Source Material, in my honest opinion.. is Sam revealing his Bite Mark to Ellie. He didn't do that in The Game, which is what Surprises every Player. HENCE The MASSIVE Emotional Impact That Happens when Henry Does what he does.. and THERE in Laid The Problem. Mute Sam couldn't express what he was going through to Ellie in a Serious Way, so he reveals The Bite Mark. But in Revealing The Bite Mark, he Reveals to The Audience that he IS indeed infected. Sucking out The Surprise Element in The Morning when He DOES Turn... because everyone expected him too. In my humble opinion.. they should've changed that ENTIRELY. Not by Sticking to The Source Material.. but by going Further. Instead of Ellie, trying to "Fix it" with her Blood (and later blaming herself). They should've gone further and have Ellie tell Joel, so he can try to Break it to Henry. Therefor giving Henry an opportunity to Say Goodbye peacefully.. even to Ellie and Joel; if they wanted to stick to that Ending. But that's just me.. you should definitely see The Original one too. So you can see the difference. ^_^ Great Reaction as always fam.
