The reason the chocolate melted "weird" is because they were chocolate chips, which have an added ingredient to keep them from melting completely. So they're good for cookies or other baked goods, but not so much for melting. Next time, get the semi-sweet chocolate bars and those will melt so much easier and smoother for peppermint bark. Also, an offset spatula is great for spreading stuff evenly. Have a great holiday! 🎅🌲

More importantly - use a double boiler! All chocolate turns weird with uneven heat, so using a double boiler means the heat is evenly distributed.

Do a double boil when trying to melt chocolate like this! A steel or glass bowl ontop of the pot with about an inch of water to bowl under. with 2 1/2 cups chocolate chips or chunks, 1/2 cup of whipping cream and 3 tbsp of corn syrup will make ganache :)

Melt in a double broiler situation or crock pot for better results in melting your chocolates. Also use almond bark rather than the chips. Also boil water and let cool a little bit to water your tree … it lets water get through the sap.

Probably little late but I just learned if u boil water and let it cool a little. To water your tree it gets it to not dry out as fast basically stops the protective say from sealing up the pores of the tree.

Think your mom is probably around my age since I have a son who was also born April 94.
