The Last Patrol is history of German Submarine U175 Lost During the WW2

German submarine U-175 was a Type IXC U-boat of Germany's Kriegsmarine built for service during World War II. Throughout her career, the boat undertook three war patrols during which she sank ten merchant ships amounting to a total of 40,619 gross register tons before being sunk by the US Coast Guard cutter Spencer on 17 April 1943.

Those German sailors were very lucky to have been saved by the American Coast Guard crew. Most German U-boats were lost at sea with all hands while only a handful were able to surface and abandon their subs before sinking. I can only imagine where, in the Atlantic ocean, the North Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, are all those lost U-boats still on patrol.
