Victorinox didn't phase out the 91mm Ranger. It will stop engraving the word "Camping" on its scale, but the Ranger model with the traditional red scales is still in production.

Yep, this is the way I took it as well. Just more stamping the word "Camping" on the Ranger and the Camper.

The camping logo is on the latest versions cheap and nasty and like the emblem is painted under the finish,giving the scale on the front an odd greasy feel to it ,when Victorinox inlay the stainless steel emblems things looked cool. I guess all is a cost cutting measure? Who knows the next thing to go maybe the Victorinox emblem itself!

Bought a Ranger a few months ago on sale for $37 I think. To me, the best tool options in one place. Having scissors, file and saw is a winner.

Are you also a lefty? i love how Victorinox are no problem whatsoever for us southpaws, the blades are even very friendly positioned on the left, also thew linerlocks on the newer soldier models are left handed. Was my first big gripe on leatherman, one handed but not for me.

You seem well informed for dating SAKs. I have 2 Swisschamps, 1 I got second hand and the other I was lucky enough to get brand new in a SOS kit. Both are the version made between -92 and -04 but there is 1 tiny detail tha separates them. The second hand 1 has a smooth rivet in the pliers but the new one from the kit has a centered "dimple" in the rivet. All the later ones I have also have that "dimple" so I figure the 1 from the kit is made after the second hand 1. Do you which year the "dimple" in the rivet appeared? Would be nice to be able to narrow down when they were made.

what happened to the funky bass on the intro ? Quit rationalizing and just get a Yeoman in black. They funkier than yo bass line.
