It may be just a plane or a flying piece or metal to some people but it is more than just a memory to me, It is a part of my life and the reason why I have fallen in love with aviation, I used to work on the ramp with all of these British airways 747s that have recently been scrapped in DFW, and it was the first plane I have ever got to push back too, nevertheless this plane has a place in my heart and will always been there. Miss this big O’l bird allot. Always reminds me of the way aviation used to be before covid and so much more good memories and friendships I’ve made because of it. RIP

@AH Benjamin. Yes - it seems crazy doesn’t it that such different decisions were made between the 2 airlines - and with such different outcomes from those decisions!
@petercdowney Жыл бұрын
The 747-400 is actually quite old - most date from the 1990s. Although it has winglets and a glass cockpit, it is actually louder than newer aircraft. Many airports don't allow it to be used for night flights.

I would say I’ve only been on three complete journeys or 6 individual journeys in an aircraft so it doesn’t mean as much to me as others. I don’t think I started flying when that plane made its last flight. So I look at it from the perspective of the people dismantling it. You have to admire how it takes as much effort to dismantle it as it did to build it.
@HeathrowAircraft Жыл бұрын
@paulanderson1962 Hi Paul - yes you are right - although the slightly cynical side of me would say that they take so much care cutting out the window frames and skin panels because they sell them to enthusiasts afterwards (me included 🤣) Thanks for watching. Cheers Steve
