This was the best succession video for you, my brother! You’ve been fighting the fight and showing the journey while disclosing everything. Let's hope the sps stick around this run. I think if you can let the tank do its thing and run. Without much intervention, you will see good results. Cruise control, so to speak. Just my .02 cents. Keep up the hard work cj. Never a dull moment in this hobby.

CJ, my reef tank is roughly the same age as your tank. I've also struggled with some SPS in my reef as well. After I've gotten my nutrients under control, i have added a few more test pieces of SPS. Currently, i do not have any aquarium controllers on my aquarium. I have made the move to put a water station together in my basement that will be automated. For the past few months, I have upped my water change regiment. I still do my weekly water change on my day off. However, every day, i will manually change 4 liters with fresh mixed & heated saltwater. I have really noticed a positive response from this change. Everything just looks puffy and healthy. This is why I've decided to move forward with the water station and auto mating it. Ireallyvthink it's going to be worth the investment. I am also trying to build up my microbiome in my tank. I have been running my UV and protein skimmer 24/7. I feel this has been a portion of my issues as well. I have been treating the tank with Dr. Tim's refresh, waste away & eco balance. I have turned off my UV sterilizer for the time being. I have purchased a couple of programable smart outlets to manage the skimmer and UV. I want to limit the amount of time they run during the day. To answer your Answer to your end of video question the answer is westcoast reefer. I am a new subscriber by the way. I really dig the Be easy reef.

The reef is looking awsome. I've followed West Coast for a while. I have a little suggestion CJ at the end of your suspended arch theres some blank real estate,all the way at the end how about a green or any color monti. It will be at the end ,so wont shade anyone 🤔. You deserve all the success .

Beautiful SPS pieces you picked up there. I also was unsuccessful in the past with SPS. Super stoked that my frags have turned into mini colonies at this point. One thing that i defiantly overlooked was the amount of space needed in-between pieces. Might be worth spacing them out a bit more, as ive come to findout its much more difficult to move them once they've happily encrusted and started to grow. Not trying to throw shade just trying to maybe save you from a headache im dealing with currently. Love the vids, love the system, keep up the good work. Happy Reefing!

No shade taken.. I’m already plotting a couple relocations. Mounting them when neighboring corals where closed up have a false sense of space. Small adjustment coming. Thanks for tapping in 🫡💯

It would be cool for you to do a live Q&A some day. Do you think having chaeto is just as good as an algae scrubber?

Tank is looking fire bro. I wonder if you have a slight bacterial issue going on which might be causing the tissue issues on your LPS. Your tank still looks better than mine. I feel like I might finally be coming out of the dino issue I’ve been struggling with since February.
@CJSAQUARIUMS6 ай бұрын
The thought crossed my mind about bacterial issue in the tank. I still have Dino’s and they flair up randomly… something that’s never gonna be cured permanently

Get a 3D printed hat for your urchin. Mine has been wearing a mini Viking helmet for months, and I definitely believe it stops him from picking up frags/coral.

I think the automatic water change helps SPS so much more than we really know about… I really think it’s looking like physical irritation on those LPS, in particular that torch. You were scrubbing so hard in the Timelapse I could see the whole structure moving 😅
@CJSAQUARIUMS6 ай бұрын
Man I was afraid I caused it but if that’s case at least won’t have to worry about the others I’ll just be more careful removing algae. Water changes are happening every day no effort I definitely feel it’s gonna be a major win 🫡

great tank man. advice on sps placement, once they like the spot… they take off in growth. and they will fight for that real estate. so those pieces might be too close to each other in placement

threw in the towel on SPS about 4 years ago. LPS fits my lifestyle better, though I can't keep frogspawn or hammers if you paid me. Tried 3 times and every single one has died. As a baseball coach, I need something that won't just get pissed and die if I ignore the tank for a day. After a long day at a tournament, the last thing I want to do is spend 2-3 hours working on a tank. I just want to pop open a cold beer, kick my feet up, and rest. I couldn't do that with sticks. very high maintenance
@CJSAQUARIUMS5 ай бұрын
Imma football coach so I fully understand what you mean… that’s main reason I have my system full of so much automation. So when I get home I can enjoy that drink and just look at it. I’m not throwing in the towel yet.. if that day comes I’ll fill the tank full of all softies and LPs 🫡💯
