Is the position of his shoulder rest right? I have never seen something like that.

Do you mean in how "low down" it is set? I set up my viola like this so I don't have to make as much of an effort keeping the instrument as close to my neck as possible, which gives me better posture naturally. I'm sure Maxim is doing this for the same reason - I do know that he injured his shoulder and readjusted his technique soon after his time off from performing. He also changed from a chin rest that was more on the left side of his violin to a central over-the-tailpiece one. That's probably factor no.2 in why he's had to adjust his shoulder rest to a further down position. I hope this helped :)

He had a shoulder surgery, so he had to place it there for his shoulder to continue to recover and not have anymore problems.
