Everybody wants to talk about Alex's hair but I'm here like how did they film this video? How did they coordinate the music with the dancer's moves that are in slow motion? Did they calculate the distance from the sea so that they won't be too near but still get hit by the waves? This is all in one take. How many hours were they buried? In the end of the video a wave hits their heads which is the perfect ending. Is this just pure luck?

Oddly enough, I like the video version of this song, with all the sound effects of the ocean and the wind and that missing part of the middle with the emphasis on the lone strings, way more than the album version. Miracle Aligner: they escape and run away to complete Alex's plan successfully.

There's people carrying stuff around and they are dressed in suits for the ceremony? Maybe Alex was supposed to be Miles' best man, turned lover. Since everyone in the comments is curious about the technical challenges behind the filming of this video, I am going to try my best and explain it within my knowledge. 1-The Slo-Mo: First of all the footage is slowed down to %50. If you speed up the video you will clearly see and hear the waves at the end. It might look a little weird on youtube because when you speed it up from the youtube player it doubles the FPS. So, if you download to video, speed it up to %200, and set the frame rate to 24 it will look normal. So we can be certain that they shot the video in about 2 minutes. Also, they are just singing the song exactly two times faster, which I think has a pretty good beat. 2-The Timing of the Sun: Now we know that the actual filming takes 2 minutes, let's talk about the sun. The sun is at the horizon and is about to go down, this typically takes about 2 to 3 minutes, which is just enough. Depending on the location and time of the year this may change a little. I'm guessing that since they wanted to end the video when the sun is crossing the horizon or when it is just down, this gives them a time window of about 8-10 minutes in total. Which is enough to film 3 or 4 takes. 3-The Sand: First of all no, I don't think at all they spent hours buried in the sand. The hole was probably dug earlier and they must have gotten in it about 30 mins prior to the sunset. This will give the crew roughly 10 minutes to adjust the sand around them, another 10 to rehearse the camera movements and the choreography one last time, and another 10 minutes to film a few takes. 4-The Wave: Since they probably calculated the sunset and everything else, they probably knew roughly where the maximum reach of the tide is during the sunset. But still, it's a bit of a wild element and I'm guessing that cinematographer improvised the timing of the movements on the spot to capture it. Look at 3:11 which shows the woman running away until 3:21. At that point the song is over, which is not a coincidence but a rather smart choreography decision. The woman's cue is to run away at the end of the song, so that cinematographer can stay on her as long as they need. Until a wave reaches Alex and Miles. It is a coincidence that the wave comes at that point, but if it didn't the cinematographer would have focused on the woman for a few more seconds, and then eventually a wave would come because of the tide hours and he would turn the camera back to them. Maybe it did come early in one of the takes, or too late. It requires a little bit of luck, calculation, and thorough pre-planning. I don't know if these are correct or not, but they are my best guess and at least what I would do if I were to film this short video.

Okay, after rewatching this video I think I've figured out how they did it. There is probably some sort of structure holding up the sand across Alex and Miles' shoulders, but this is invisible to us because it's under the sand. This means that they are not actually buried in the sand, there is only a very thin layer of it to cover the structure. In the event that they begin to drown, Alex and Miles can then very easily lift the structure up and get out of the hole.

The only reason at all people are loving this and hating Bad Habits is because Alex is singing in it. They are both incredibly unique songs. I seriously wonder how this band would be received if no one knew Alex Turner was in the band.
